Hertz DP 1.500 Review: Compact 500 W Mono Amp, Plus the HRC 02 Remote
Updated: Oct 6
The Hertz DP 1.500 is a compact mono Class D subwoofer amplifier from Hertz's Dieci Power range, rated at 500 W RMS into 2 ohms and 280 W RMS into 4 ohms at 14.4 V. It has speaker-level inputs and automatic turn-on for factory head units, sits on a 190 x 190 mm footprint just 50 mm tall, and is ready for Hertz's HRC 02 remote bass control. Its Indian MRP is ₹24,990, between the DP 4.300 and DP 4.400 four-channel models, and the HRC 02 adds ₹4,990. It suits anyone adding a sub to a factory or aftermarket system. See it on our Hertz DP 1.500 product page.

Summary
500 W RMS at 2 ohms and 280 W at 4 ohms, both at 1% distortion; the 1180 W headline is a different measure.
Speaker-level and RCA inputs with balanced circuitry, and automatic turn-on from factory speaker wires.
Low-pass, subsonic, bass boost and phase controls, plus an optional HRC 02 remote level knob.
A top overall score from 18 ratings at a UK retailer, though the reviews we could see are very brief.

Figures are from Hertz's DP 1.500 page and our listing. That page's feature list also mentions 50–4000 Hz crossovers, which contradicts its own spec table; we've used the spec table.
Power ratings, and what 1180 W means
The meaningful numbers are 500 W RMS at 2 ohms and 280 W RMS at 4 ohms, measured at 14.4 V and 1% distortion. At 10% distortion, well into clipping, Hertz quotes 590 W and 350 W. The 1180 W in our listing's title is what Hertz publishes as total RMS power, exactly double its own 590 W figure at 10% distortion, so size the subwoofer to the 1% ratings instead.
In practice, the DP 1.500 is a 2-ohm amplifier. A 4-ohm sub gets barely more than half the power, so a 2-ohm single-coil sub, or a dual-coil sub wired to 2 ohms, makes the most of it. Hertz's ADC Class D design is rated at 86% efficiency, which keeps both heat and current draw down.
Inputs for factory and aftermarket head units
If your car has a factory touchscreen without RCA outputs, the DP 1.500 handles that with a speaker-level input accepting 1.6 to 40 V, and it can switch itself on and off from the factory speaker outputs, so you don't need a separate remote turn-on lead. Hertz says both inputs are balanced for noise rejection, with a built-in Universal Speaker Simulator for compatibility. Aftermarket head units connect to the RCA pre-in (0.32 to 8 V), and a full-range pre-out can feed another amplifier.
Filters, bass boost and the HRC 02 remote
The low-pass filter runs from 50 to 250 Hz at 24 dB per octave, and the subsonic filter is fixed at 25 Hz, also at 24 dB per octave; both can be switched off. There's up to 9 dB of bass boost and a 0 or 180° phase switch for blending the sub with the door speakers. Use the boost sparingly; it overdrives subs quickly.
The Hertz HRC 02 is a wired knob that adjusts subwoofer level from -20 to +6 dB. It connects with a Molex plug and can be taped, screwed or recessed into a panel, with fittings supplied. Hertz's HRC 02 page lists it for DBA, Dieci Power and Cento Power products, including the DP 1.500. The amplifier works without it, but recordings vary in bass, and a knob by the driver's seat beats opening the boot.
Which subwoofers to pair it with
The neatest matches are Hertz's 2-ohm Mille Pro shallow subs, all rated at 500 W continuous: the ready-boxed MPBX 300 S2 and MPBX 250 S2, or the bare MPS 250 and MPS 300 in their S2 versions. The dual-coil MP 300 D4.3 wired in parallel also presents 2 ohms, and its 600 W rating leaves headroom. A 4-ohm sub, such as the Dieci DS 30.3 (250 W continuous), will work too, but at 280 W, so set the gain carefully.
What owners and reviewers say about the Hertz DP 1.500
When we checked in October 2026, we found no professional review; the owner feedback comes from one UK retailer.
Four Car Audio lists 18 ratings, with an overall score at the top of its scale. Five reviews were visible, the dated ones running from December 2024 to June 2026, all at the top mark. Two have no text; the others say the owner was very pleased, praise its punch, and call it a great amplifier for a sub with plenty of power. None mentions a fault, but none describes the car or sub. If you own one, tell us how it has held up.
DP 1.500 vs the DP 4.300, DP 4.400 and CBA 250
The four-channel DP 4.300 (₹20,990 MRP) and DP 4.400 (₹30,990 MRP) can each run front speakers and a sub together, but bridged they give 170 W and 210 W into a 4-ohm sub and can't take 2 ohms in that mode. For serious bass, the DP 1.500 is the better sub amplifier, and a common layout uses one of each.
If you'd rather not add an amplifier and sub separately, the Cento CBA 250 (₹49,990 MRP) is a flat active box with its own 250 W amplifier and speaker-level input. The DP 1.500 with a 2-ohm sub offers twice the power and a choice of sub, at the cost of more wiring and a separate box.
Who should buy it, and who shouldn't
Buy the DP 1.500 if you want a small, efficient amplifier to drive one subwoofer at up to 500 W, especially a 2-ohm Hertz sub, from a factory or aftermarket head unit.
Look elsewhere if you need more than 500 W, want to drive a 1-ohm load, or want one amplifier for the whole system, where a four-channel DP model fits better.
Installation notes for Indian cars
Hertz lists an 11–15 V supply range in the spec table and says the amplifier operates from 6.5 to 17.5 V, which should help it keep playing when voltage sags at idle with the AC on. It uses a single 30 A fuse. Hertz's 21 A consumption figure at 14.4 V into 2 ohms is for maximum musical power, not a ceiling, so use a correctly sized, fused power cable and a short, solid earth.
Hertz rates it for -20 to 60 °C. A parked car's boot gets very hot in an Indian summer, so mount the amplifier where air can circulate, never under the boot carpet or luggage. Its 190 x 190 mm footprint can often go behind a seat back or on a boot side panel. Our guides on amplifiers and DSPs cover the wider system, and VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad can install it with your choice of sub.
Price and where to buy
The Hertz DP 1.500 has an MRP of ₹24,990 and the HRC 02 remote ₹4,990 in our current Indian listings. Check today's prices on the DP 1.500 product page and the HRC 02 product page. Everything we sell is genuine Hertz.

The bottom line
The DP 1.500 is a sensible, compact sub amplifier: 500 W at 2 ohms, rated at 1% distortion, the inputs a factory head unit needs, useful filters and an optional remote. Ignore the 1180 W headline and match it to a 2-ohm sub, ideally one of Hertz's shallow Mille Pro models. Owner ratings are positive, though detailed long-term reports are missing.
Hertz DP 1.500 FAQ
Is the Hertz DP 1.500 stable at 2 ohms?
Yes. Hertz rates it at 500 W RMS into 2 ohms at 14.4 V and 1% distortion, and lists 2 ohms as the minimum load. Don't connect a 1-ohm load.
Do I need the HRC 02 remote?
No, the amplifier works without it. The HRC 02 lets you change subwoofer level from -20 to +6 dB from the front of the car, which is handy because the amount of bass varies between recordings.
Will the DP 1.500 work with a factory head unit?
Yes. It has a speaker-level input that accepts 1.6 to 40 V and can turn itself on and off automatically from the factory speaker outputs, so no RCA outputs or remote wire are needed.
