Hertz MPK 165P.3 Review: What the 3-Ohm Mille Pro Set Changes vs the MPK 165.3
Updated: Oct 6
The Hertz MPK 165P.3 is the 3-ohm version of Hertz's Mille Pro 6.5-inch two-way component set: MP 165P.3 woofers, MP 25.3 tweeters with 29 mm Tetolon domes and MPCX 2P.3 crossovers, rated at 115 W continuous and 230 W peak. Hertz built it around a lower impedance so it can draw more power from an amplifier. Its Indian MRP is ₹49,990, exactly the same as the 4-ohm MPK 165.3, and in our Mille Pro range it sits between the MPX 165.3 coaxial and the three-way MPK 163.3. It makes most sense for owners with an amplifier that is happy driving low impedances. See today's price on our MPK 165P.3 product page.

Quick summary
The P version has a 3-ohm load, a different woofer with a bigger magnet and a different crossover at 4 kHz; the tweeter is the same as the MPK 165.3's.
Hertz's figures give it 1 dB more woofer sensitivity and slightly higher power ratings, but a 45 Hz lower limit against the MPK 165.3's 40 Hz.
Pair it with an amplifier rated for 2-ohm loads, and don't bridge into it unless the amplifier allows.
Owner feedback on this exact set is thin; the 4-ohm sibling has more, and we label it as related.

The core difference is the load. Hertz says the 3-ohm impedance is there to draw all of the amplifier's power: in theory, an amplifier that can supply the current delivers up to about a third more power into 3 ohms than into 4. Hertz also lists 1 dB more woofer sensitivity, so the P version should play somewhat louder from the same amplifier. Its woofer also gets a larger magnet and half a millimetre more excursion, and Hertz highlights its 14 mm-tall pure copper coil for power handling (it doesn't list the MP 165.3's coil height).
The 4-ohm MPK 165.3 answers with a load almost any amplifier or head unit accepts and a lower 40 Hz rating, which suits Hertz's description of it as a set for cars with no room for a subwoofer. Both crossovers use the same type of film capacitors and 1 mm copper-wire inductors, and the tweeter is identical. One oddity: the table on Hertz's MP 165P.3 page prints 4 ohms, but its description, the system page and the woofer's 2.6-ohm Re all point to 3 ohms.
Matching an amplifier to a 3-ohm set
Pick an amplifier rated for 2-ohm stereo loads; into 3 ohms it will deliver somewhere between its 4-ohm and 2-ohm figures. Around 100 W per channel suits the 115 W continuous rating. Don't bridge a channel pair into one MPK 165P.3 unless the amplifier's manual allows bridged loads that low, because bridging halves the impedance each channel sees. The P version's case rests on amplifier power, and most head units are designed around 4-ohm speakers, so check yours before connecting it to one. Our guide to why a car system needs an amplifier covers the basics.
What owners and reviewers say about the Hertz MPK 165P.3
Owner feedback on this exact set is thin, and we found no professional review. This is what we found when we checked in October 2026.
UK retailer Four Car Audio shows six customer ratings dated 2016 to 2023, five at the top of its scale and one a step below. Only one has any text: a 2019 buyer calling the set fantastic and detailed. The page doesn't say how the ratings were collected or verified.
The 4-ohm MPK 165.3 shares this set's tweeter but not its woofer or crossover, so its feedback covers a related model, not this one. Four Car Audio's MPK 165.3 page has 16 reviews from 2017 to 2025, nearly all top-rated, praising clarity, natural vocals without harshness, bass and build quality; one 2017 reviewer found it less warm than a rival brand's set at a similar price. The product ratings on an eBay listing for the MPK 165.3 average 4.9 out of 5 from 7, with buyers noting crisper, clearer sound than the speakers they replaced. If you own the 165P.3, we would like to hear how it has done.
Other Mille Pro options
If you'd rather not mount separate tweeters, the coaxial MPX 165.3 (₹24,990) costs about half as much and installs in one hole. For a dedicated midrange, the three-way MPK 163.3 (₹69,990) adds a 70 mm driver and a 150 W continuous rating, at 4 ohms. Moving up a range, the Mille Legend MLK 165.3 (₹89,990) is a 4-ohm two-way with a 35 mm tweeter.
Who should buy it, and who shouldn't
Buy the MPK 165P.3 if you own or plan an amplifier rated for 2-ohm loads and want the most output from it, or you like the idea of a 4 kHz handover and a +2.5 dB tweeter step for a cabin that sounds dull.
Choose the MPK 165.3 instead if you will run the speakers from a head unit or a 4-ohm-only amplifier, plan to bridge channels, or value the deeper 40 Hz rating. At the same MRP, the choice comes down to your amplifier.
Installation notes for Indian cars
Hertz lists a 64 mm mounting depth for the woofer. Check the window glass and factory opening, since many installs need an adapter ring, and damp the door while the panel is off; our sound damping guide explains how. Mount the tweeters high on the A-pillars or dash and keep the crossovers away from water inside the door. A 3-ohm load draws more current, so use decent speaker cable rather than thin factory wiring. VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation.
Price and where to buy
The MPK 165P.3 has an MRP of ₹49,990, the same as the MPK 165.3. VA3 Car Studio often sells below MRP, so check the current offer on our Hertz MPK 165P.3 listing. Every set we sell is a genuine Hertz product.

The bottom line
The Hertz MPK 165P.3 is not a better or worse MPK 165.3, but a version for a different amplifier. With a 2-ohm-capable amplifier it should extract more output from the same amplifier; with a head unit or a 4-ohm-only amplifier, the MPK 165.3 is the safer choice at the same price.
Hertz MPK 165P.3 FAQ
What does the P in Hertz MPK 165P.3 mean?
The Hertz pages we checked don't explain the letter, but the P set is the 3-ohm version of the Mille Pro two-way set. It uses the MP 165P.3 woofer and MPCX 2P.3 crossover at 4 kHz instead of the MP 165.3 and MPCX 2.3 at 3.5 kHz, with the same MP 25.3 tweeter.
Can I run the MPK 165P.3 from a head unit?
It will play, but most head units are designed around 4-ohm speakers, so check yours first, and the set's advantage over the MPK 165.3 comes from amplifier power. With a head unit only, the 4-ohm MPK 165.3 is the more sensible choice.
Can I bridge an amplifier into the MPK 165P.3?
Only if the amplifier's manual allows a bridged load of 3 ohms or less. Bridging halves the impedance each channel sees, so the usual approach is to run it in stereo from an amplifier rated for 2-ohm loads.
