Innova Hycross Speaker Upgrade: Morel Plug and Play DSP Kit Guide

5 min read

If you want a complete Innova Hycross speaker upgrade that keeps the factory screen, the Morel plug and play DSP kit for the Toyota Innova Hycross does it in one box. It replaces the four door speakers, puts 1-inch Morel tweeters on the dash and adds a Morel MDSP 6/4A DSP amplifier with a file tuned for the Hycross. The wiring plugs in, so nothing is cut. At the time of writing it costs ₹45,000 (MRP ₹50,000) with free shipping across India.

Morel plug and play DSP kit for Toyota Innova Hycross with MDSP 6/4A amplifier, IP-TOY62 and IP-TOY6C speakers

Key takeaways

  • Morel IP-TOY62 components up front, IP-TOY6C coaxials at the back and an MDSP 6/4A DSP with 4 × 25 W RMS.

  • The factory touchscreen stays, and a Hycross-specific harness with DirectFit brackets means no wire cutting.

  • The pre-tuned file sets EQ, crossovers and time alignment, and you can change it later in Morel's MDSP app.

  • ZX and ZX(O) owners should confirm fitment first, because the ZX launched with a 9-speaker JBL system.

What's in the box?

One box covers the four doors and the dash:

  • 1 × Morel MDSP 6/4A DSP amplifier (6 DSP channels, 4 × 25 W RMS)

  • 2 × Morel IP-TOY62 6.5-inch component woofers for the front doors

  • 2 × Morel TOY62 1-inch soft-dome tweeters with inline crossovers, plus 2 dash mounts

  • 2 × Morel IP-TOY6C 6.5-inch two-way coaxials for the rear doors

  • A plug and play harness for the DSP, DirectFit brackets and plug-in connectors

  • A pre-tuned DSP file for the Innova Hycross, made with RTA measurements

What does the Hycross have from the factory?

It depends on the variant. Autocar India's December 2022 variant guide lists a 4-speaker system on the base G, a 6-speaker system on the VX and a 9-speaker JBL system on the ZX, with the ZX(O) building on the ZX. Premium systems are wired differently, so if your car has the JBL setup, WhatsApp us your variant and model year before you order.

Why upgrade a Hycross at all? Hybrid versions run on electric power at low speeds, and a quiet cabin makes thin bass and harsh treble easier to hear. It's also a three-row family car, so the rear doors matter: the IP-TOY6C coaxials give second-row passengers their own tweeters.

How does the MDSP 6/4A improve the sound?

The MDSP 6/4A is a six-channel DSP with four amplified channels at 25 W RMS each into 4 Ω, in a box just 116 × 90 × 35 mm. It reads the factory head unit's speaker-level signal, so your screen and steering controls work as before. Three tools do most of the work:

  • Time alignment. In a right-hand-drive Hycross you sit much closer to the right-hand speakers. If the left tweeter is 40 cm farther from your ears, its sound arrives about 1.2 milliseconds later and the stereo image leans right. The DSP delays the nearer speakers so everything arrives together.

  • EQ. Input, output and global EQ of up to ±12 dB smooth the peaks and dips the cabin adds.

  • Crossovers. They keep deep bass away from the 1-inch tweeters and decide what each speaker plays.

Time alignment favours one seat, usually the driver's. Our MDSP 6/4A review covers the amplifier in full.

A quick check on power: at 92 dB (2.83 V, 1 m), each IP-TOY62 woofer would in theory reach about 103 dB at one metre on the full 25 W, well inside its 90 W rating. The amplifier sets the limit, not the speakers. Our IP-TOY62 and IP-TOY6C reviews cover each speaker.

What does the pre-tuned DSP file do?

It's made with RTA (real-time analyser) measurements in the Innova Hycross, and it loads the MDSP's EQ, crossovers and time alignment for the cabin and speaker positions. The system is meant to sound balanced from the first drive, with no tuning session. Prefer a different balance? The Morel MDSP app on iOS or Android adjusts it over the amplifier's built-in Bluetooth, and our guide on how to set up a DSP covers the basics.

Is it really plug and play?

For the wiring, yes. The speakers drop into the factory mounts with DirectFit brackets, and the harness connects the DSP between the head unit and the speakers without cutting or splicing. You'll still remove door trims and dash panels, so it's a DIY job only if you're comfortable with trim tools; otherwise any car audio installer can fit it. While the panels are off, consider treating the doors, as our guide to door installation and sound deadening explains.

Can you add a subwoofer later?

Yes. The MDSP 6/4A has two RCA outputs (channels 5 and 6) for a subwoofer, and the Morel PSL10AE is the matching option: a 10-inch active enclosure with a built-in 350 W RMS amplifier, just 165 mm tall. It's sold separately.

Is the kit worth ₹45,000?

For ₹45,000 you get Morel speakers for four doors, a DSP amplifier, the Hycross harness, brackets, tweeter mounts and a ready-made tune. It suits owners who like the factory screen and want clearer, fuller sound without rewiring the car. It isn't the right buy if you want loud, bass-heavy listening without a sub (25 W per channel is clean, not huge) or plan to replace the head unit. Morel launched the MDSP range in March 2026, so long-term owner reports don't exist yet. Unused, uninstalled kits can be returned within 7 days under our return policy.

Innova Hycross speaker upgrade FAQ

Do I need to replace the factory head unit?

No. The MDSP 6/4A takes the speaker-level signal from the factory head unit, so your screen and steering controls stay as they are. The harness plugs in between the head unit and the speakers, with no cutting or splicing.

Does the kit work with the 9-speaker JBL system?

Check with us first. Autocar India lists the 9-speaker JBL system on the ZX at launch, and the ZX(O) builds on the ZX. Premium systems are wired differently, so WhatsApp your variant and model year to +91 86999 90703 and we'll confirm fitment.

Will it fit the Innova Crysta?

No. The Innova Crysta is a different car, and this kit is made for the Innova Hycross. WhatsApp us your Crysta's variant and model year and we'll check what fits it.
