Recoil BTR-20 Review: IPX7 Bluetooth 5.0 Receiver With RCA Out and Remote Turn-On

5 min read

The Recoil BTR-20 is a waterproof (IPX7) Bluetooth 5.0 audio receiver with RCA outputs and an amplifier remote turn-on output. Our listing describes it for marine, powersports and car audio systems, and Recoil's main-site page says marine, powersports and automotive use. Its Indian MRP is ₹9,000. Recoil's pages disagree on the RCA output voltage and on aptX Low Latency, and they leave out the size, weight and connector details. The receiver is on our Recoil BTR-20 product page.

Recoil BTR-20 waterproof Bluetooth receiver IPX7 RCA out

Quick summary

  • Our listing and Recoil's main-site page give Bluetooth 5.0 on a Qualcomm QCC3034 chip, IPX7, a 9 to 16 V DC supply, a 2 A mini ATC fuse and a 35 ft (about 11 m) range. Recoil's US page gives the chip but not the Bluetooth version, IP rating, supply voltage, fuse or range.

  • The RCA output is 3 V RMS on the main-site page and 5.3 V, with no RMS or peak label, on the US page. The web address of our listing says 4v. We do not treat the unlabelled figure as RMS.

  • Our listing and the main-site page list aptX HD, aptX, aptX Low Latency, AAC and SBC. The US page omits aptX Low Latency.

  • We found no owner or reviewer write-ups, and Recoil publishes no size, weight, RCA channel count, app or installation steps.

What the RCA output voltage tells you

The RCA output voltage sets how hard the receiver drives an amplifier's input, so it matters when you set the amplifier's gain. The only figure with a stated basis is 3 V RMS on the main-site page. The 5.3 V on the US page carries no RMS or peak label, so we do not treat it as RMS. Confirm the figure with Recoil or its distributor, and set the amplifier gain carefully once the receiver is installed. The 18 Hz to 25 kHz range comes without a tolerance, so it says little about flatness.

Bluetooth and codecs

The BTR-20 uses Qualcomm's QCC3034 chip and lists Bluetooth 5.0. A codec is used only when the phone supports it too; otherwise the link uses a codec both sides share, so check what your phone offers before you count on aptX HD. Our listing says 24-bit audio transmission. Recoil's main-site page calls it 24-bit lossless but does not tie that word to any listed codec, so we treat it as a maker claim. Neither Recoil page mentions hands-free calling, an app, an equaliser or how many phones can be paired.

What IPX7 does and does not cover

IPX7 is a water-ingress rating from the IP code, based on immersion testing. The X means no dust rating is claimed. Standard IP testing uses fresh water, so the rating does not guarantee protection from salt water, and IPX7 does not by itself imply the jet-spray ratings IPX5 and IPX6. Recoil's main-site page ties the rating to powersports and marine applications but does not say whether it covers the enclosure, the connectors or the cables, and it does not mention salt water. The US page gives no IP rating.

Fitting notes for Indian cars

Recoil's pages give no installation steps, size, weight or mounting details, so check the manual before choosing a spot. The supply is 9 to 16 V DC with a 2 A mini ATC fuse rating, as Recoil lists it, and the remote turn-on output has no published voltage or current, so confirm with the maker how many amplifiers it can switch. For several amplifiers, our Recoil S-MPG4 post covers a block with delayed remote outputs. If the receiver feeds a DSP, our guide to the need for DSP in car audio systems explains what a processor adds. VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation and DSP tuning.

What owners and reviewers say about the Recoil BTR-20

We looked for owner and reviewer feedback in October 2026 and found nothing we could read for the BTR-20. Recoil's main-site page shows Reviews (0) and its US page shows none. Our tools could not read Amazon, Walmart or Reddit, and forum and retailer search pages did not load, so feedback may exist that we could not see.

Who should buy it, and who shouldn't

Buy the BTR-20 if you want a Bluetooth source with RCA and amplifier remote turn-on outputs for a marine, powersports or car audio system, as our listing puts it, and you will confirm the output voltage first. Our guide to the need for an amplifier in car sound systems covers the amplifier side.

Look elsewhere if you need a settled output-voltage figure, a published size, an IP rating you can check in writing, or hands-free calling, an app or an equaliser, none of which Recoil lists.

Price and where to buy

The Recoil BTR-20 carries an India MRP of ₹9,000. We often sell below MRP, so check today's price on the Recoil BTR-20 product page. Our listing describes it as a genuine Recoil product.

The bottom line

The BTR-20 is an IPX7 Bluetooth 5.0 receiver with RCA and remote turn-on outputs at ₹9,000 MRP. Recoil's pages disagree on the RCA output voltage, THD and aptX Low Latency, so confirm those with the maker or distributor before you plan gains or codecs around them.

Recoil BTR-20 FAQ

Is the Recoil BTR-20 waterproof?

Our listing and Recoil's main-site page give an IPX7 rating, which relates to immersion in water. Recoil's US page gives no IP rating, and the standard fresh-water test does not guarantee protection from salt water.

What RCA output voltage does the Recoil BTR-20 have?

Recoil's main-site page says 3 V RMS. Its US page says 5.3 V with no RMS or peak label, and the web address of our listing says 4v. Confirm the figure with Recoil or its distributor.

Which codecs does the BTR-20 support?

Our listing and Recoil's main-site page list aptX HD, aptX, aptX Low Latency, AAC and SBC. Recoil's US page lists the same without aptX Low Latency. Your phone must support a codec for it to be used.

Does the BTR-20 have an amplifier remote turn-on output?

Yes. Recoil lists an amplifier remote turn-on output on both pages but gives no voltage, current or trigger details.
