Updated: Oct 6

The Resolut X8-DSP puts a 12-channel processor and an eight-channel class-D amplifier, rated at 160 W per channel into 4 Ω, in one 277 x 200 x 64 mm chassis, with USB and Bluetooth built in. It processes at 96 kHz/64-bit on an Analog Devices ADAU1452, converts through two ES9080Q Sabre DACs rated at 120 dB dynamic range, and digitises its eight analogue inputs with three ES9840 Sabre ADCs. Its India MRP is ₹5,29,990, the lowest of the three Resolut processor amplifiers we sell. It suits a high-end system where one box should replace a processor and a couple of amplifiers. See today's price on our X8-DSP product page.

Resolut X8-DSP processor amplifier with 8 x 160 W amplifier channels

Quick summary

  • Twelve processing channels: eight amplified at 160 W into 4 Ω, plus four line-level outputs for extra amplifiers.

  • Eight analogue inputs (Resolut's manual also describes HI LEVEL speaker-level inputs), coaxial and optical inputs, and built-in USB and Bluetooth.

  • It processes at 96 kHz rather than the 192 kHz of Resolut's standalone processors, with Sabre converters on both sides.

  • Its MRP is more than twice that of JL Audio's VX800/8i; the clearest on-paper difference is higher rated power per channel.

Figures come from Resolut's X8-DSP page and its X-DSP installation manual (in Russian). Resolut lists three ES9840 ADCs where our listing says two, and we've used Resolut's figure. Our listing also shows Windows-only software, where Resolut's current manual adds macOS 13 or newer. Resolut doesn't publish 2 Ω or bridged power, THD, or the codecs and audio formats of the built-in Bluetooth and USB modules.

One box instead of three

Resolut pitches the X8-DSP as a replacement for a separate processor and several amplifiers. That means one power feed, one ground and no RCA leads between processor and amplifiers, which saves space and removes a common source of noise. Eight amplified channels cover an active three-way front stage plus a rear pair, and the four line-level outputs can feed a separate amplifier for subwoofers.

The trade-off is flexibility. You can't upgrade the amplifier section later, and if the unit needs service, the whole system goes quiet. Weigh that against the tidier install.

The amplifier: 160 W per channel, rated at 4 Ω

Resolut says the X8-DSP delivers up to 160 W per channel into 4 Ω even with all eight channels driven. Its class-D power chips could potentially deliver up to 300 W per channel, but Resolut holds them back for stability, and they switch at carrier frequencies above 500 kHz. Resolut doesn't state the supply voltage or distortion level behind the rating.

No 2 Ω figure is published for the X8-DSP. The X-DSP manual allows 2 Ω speakers only on channels 11 and 12 of the larger X12-DSP and says the other channels need 4 Ω or more, so plan on 4 Ω speakers here and ask us before connecting anything lower.

Inputs, streaming and remote control

Unlike Resolut's standalone processors, which take analogue sources through the optional A-IN module, the X8-DSP has eight analogue inputs built in, and its manual describes HI LEVEL inputs for speaker-level sources such as a factory head unit. Coaxial and optical digital inputs are standard, and the built-in USB and Bluetooth modules let you play from a phone or player without extra hardware, though Resolut doesn't list the codecs. Resolut lists only the SRC wired remote as an accessory for the X8-DSP; the manual says a 10–22 kΩ potentiometer can control volume instead.

Tuning, presets and the Harmonizer

Setup is in Resolut DSP Tool, which Resolut's current manual lists for Windows 10/11 and macOS 13 or newer, with crossovers from 10 Hz to 25 kHz, 0–15 ms of delay and four presets. Check which EQ scheme your unit has: the X-DSP manual describes a five-band parametric EQ per channel, while the current DSP Tool manual describes a 20-band scheme alongside the older five-band one. The X-DSP manual also covers Resolut's Harmonizer, which adjusts second- and third-harmonic levels; Resolut's Harmonizer announcement says more second harmonic gives a warmer, tube-like sound and more third a sharper one. Our guide to setting up a DSP in your car explains the basics of tuning.

What owners and reviewers say about the Resolut X8-DSP

We found no owner reviews or independent tests of the X8-DSP when we checked in October 2026. The Resolut listings at the dealers Avtozvuk-SPB in St Petersburg and SoundDrive in Almaty show no ratings, and Drive2, where Russian installers post build logs, blocked our access. The power and design claims above are Resolut's own, promotional material. If you own one, we'd like to hear how it performs in your car.

X8-DSP vs X12-DSP and other DSP amplifiers

The Resolut X12-DSP (₹5,49,990) costs ₹20,000 more for four extra amplified channels, 16 processing channels and 12 analogue inputs, but Resolut doesn't list USB or Bluetooth on it; for those you need the X12-DSP BT (₹5,99,990).

Other DSP amplifiers in our store cost far less. JL Audio's VX800/8i (₹2,19,990) has eight channels rated at 75 W into 4 Ω or 100 W into 2 Ω at 14.4 V. Zapco's ADSP-Z12 IV-10A (₹1,99,990) pairs a 12-channel DSP with ten channels of 80 W into 4 Ω or 120 W into 2 Ω, plus speaker-level and digital inputs. Alpine's HDP-D90 (₹2,99,999) offers 12 amplified channels (8 x 50 W and 4 x 80 W at 4 Ω and 10% THD) and 12 speaker-level inputs. On paper the X8-DSP's clear advantage is more rated power per channel at 4 Ω, though the test conditions behind the ratings differ and Resolut doesn't state its own. Zapco publishes a higher DAC dynamic range for the ADSP-Z12 IV-10A (140 dB against 120 dB) and a 192 kHz sample rate against the X8-DSP's 96 kHz, and every alternative above costs much less.

Who should buy it, and who shouldn't

The X8-DSP makes sense if you want a high-power, eight-speaker active system in a single chassis, you value built-in USB and Bluetooth, and you're drawn to Resolut's engineering rather than the lowest price.

Look elsewhere if you plan to run 2 Ω loads, want to upgrade amplifiers separately later, or are working to a budget; the DSP amplifiers above cost much less. If you mainly want Resolut's 192 kHz processing, the A-DSP with separate amplifiers is the alternative.

Installation notes for Indian cars

At 3.5 kg and 277 x 200 x 64 mm, the X8-DSP needs a solid mounting surface, typically on the boot floor or behind a rear seat, with space around it for air to move. Resolut's manual rules out the engine bay and asks for good airflow, which matters in a closed boot during an Indian summer. Run power cable of at least 8.3 mm² with a fuse of no more than 50 A, or the 25 mm² Resolut recommends, and fuse it close to the battery. The Rem Out (+12 V, up to 100 mA) can switch an external subwoofer amplifier. VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation and can tune the DSP.

Price and where to buy

Resolut X8-DSP - another view

The bottom line

The X8-DSP is Resolut's most compact route to a complete active system: processing, eight channels of 160 W amplification and built-in streaming in one box. It's expensive next to other DSP amplifiers and only published for 4 Ω loads, so it suits buyers who want Resolut's design and a tidy, powerful install more than they want value.

Resolut X8-DSP FAQ

Does the Resolut X8-DSP need separate amplifiers?

Not for up to eight speakers: it has eight amplified channels rated at 160 W into 4 Ω. Its four line-level outputs can feed an extra amplifier, for example for a subwoofer.

Can the X8-DSP connect to a factory head unit?

Yes. Resolut's X-DSP manual describes HI LEVEL inputs for speaker-level sources alongside the eight analogue inputs, so no separate input module is needed. Ask us to check your car's head unit outputs first.

What Bluetooth codecs does the X8-DSP support?

Resolut says the X8-DSP has built-in Bluetooth and USB modules but doesn't list the codecs or the USB audio format. Ask us before buying if a particular codec matters to you.
