Hertz DS 25.3 Review: The 10-Inch Dieci Sub for Small Boots and Small Amps
Updated: Oct 7
The Hertz DS 25.3 is a 10-inch (250 mm) subwoofer driver from Hertz's Dieci range, with a single 4 Ω voice coil, 150 W continuous and 600 W peak power handling, and 89 dB sensitivity. Its Indian MRP is ₹9,990, exactly the same as the 12-inch DS 30.3, so choosing between the two comes down to boot space and amplifier budget rather than price. Hertz's recommended sealed box for the DS 25.3 is just 15.3 litres. It suits a first subwoofer in a hatchback or compact sedan, driven by a small amplifier. Check today's price on our Hertz DS 25.3 product page.

Quick summary
A 10-inch Dieci driver rated at 150 W continuous on a single 4 Ω coil, with 89 dB sensitivity.
Hertz's boxes are small: 15.3 litres sealed (about 300 x 300 x 170 mm) or 18 litres reflex tuned to 43 Hz.
An amplifier giving 150 to 200 W into 4 Ω is enough, so a small amplifier will do.
We found no readable owner reviews of this driver, only sibling feedback for the 12-inch DBX 30.3 box.

Figures are from Hertz's official DS 25.3 page and the Dieci tech sheet, and they agree with our store listing. Hertz's drawing gives lettered dimensions without labels, so we haven't quoted a cutout or outer diameter; ask us to confirm them for your box.
Built for small boxes and modest power
Hertz's tech sheet describes the DS 25.3 as designed for small sealed or reflex enclosures, and the published designs are genuinely compact. The sealed box is 15.3 litres; the reflex box adds less than 3 litres and tunes to 43 Hz for a little more depth and output. Hertz doesn't list port dimensions on the page we read, so a ported build needs the port calculated properly.
The construction is straightforward. The polypropylene cone is stiffened with mineral powder and deep ribbing, and it rides on a high-excursion butyl rubber surround. A 38 mm copper voice coil on an aluminium former and a venting system for heat dissipation round it out. Excursion is 9 mm linear and 16 mm mechanical, the same figures Hertz gives for the 12-inch DS 30.3, so the smaller cone simply moves less air at the same stroke.
Amplifier pairing on an Indian budget
The DS 25.3 is a passive driver, so it needs an amplifier; a head unit's built-in amplifier can't drive it properly. With 150 W continuous handling on one 4 Ω coil, an amplifier giving 150 to 200 W into 4 Ω is the right size, and that's a smaller amplifier than the 12-inch DS 30.3 wants. The Zapco ST-2B (₹10,990 MRP) is rated at 180 W into 4 Ω when bridged, and Zapco lists an OEM speaker-level input, so it can take its signal straight from a factory touchscreen.
The mono Zapco ST-1B (₹15,990 MRP) is rated at 200 W into 4 Ω, though it lists RCA inputs only. It also suits a pair: two DS 25.3s wired in parallel present about 2 Ω, where the ST-1B is rated at 300 W, or about 150 W per sub. Hertz's own DP 1.500, at 280 W into 4 Ω, is better matched to the 12-inch DS 30.3. Whatever you choose, set the gain with a test tone rather than by ear, and start the low-pass filter around 80 Hz. Our guide on why a car system needs an amplifier explains the basics.
What owners and reviewers say about the Hertz DS 25.3
When we checked in October 2026, we couldn't find a readable owner review of the DS 25.3. UK retailer Four Car Audio sells the DBX 25.3, Hertz's sealed box built around its 10-inch DS sub, but that page had no customer reviews either.
The only related feedback we found is for a sibling: Four Car Audio's DBX 30.3 page, which covers Hertz's 12-inch DS sub in a sealed box, not this driver. It shows two ratings at the top of the site's seven-point scale, one from a June 2024 buyer whose one-line comment called it superb and mentioned the sound quality. That's a different size and far too small a sample to stand in for owner experience of the DS 25.3.
Hertz's own description, which promises very high efficiency with superior power handling, is promotional. If you run a DS 25.3, we'd welcome your feedback.
DS 25.3 or DS 30.3, and other alternatives
At the same ₹9,990 MRP, the 12-inch Hertz DS 30.3 handles 250 W continuous and is 2 dB more sensitive at 91 dB. The catch is that it wants a 21-litre sealed box and a bigger amplifier. If your boot is small or your amplifier budget is tight, the DS 25.3 is the better fit; if you have the room and plan a 250 W-class amplifier, the 12-inch can play louder for the same driver price.
If you'd rather not build a box, the DBX 25.3 puts Hertz's 10-inch DS sub in a ready-made sealed MDF enclosure (443 x 227 x 298 mm) for ₹19,990 MRP. The Cento CS 250, also ₹19,990, handles 300 W continuous in a similar 16-litre sealed box, but at 84 dB it is 5 dB less sensitive, so it needs much more amplifier power to play as loud. For a build with no separate amplifier, the DBA 201 active box has its own 220 W amplifier.
Who should buy it, and who shouldn't
Buy the DS 25.3 if you want your first subwoofer, you have a small boot, and you'd like to keep the amplifier small and inexpensive. It fills in the bass that factory and entry-level door speakers can't reach.
Look elsewhere if you want very loud, deep bass at high volume, or you already own a 250 W-class mono amplifier; in that case the DS 30.3 makes better use of it at the same price.
Installation notes for Indian cars
Build the box from MDF, seal every joint, and keep close to Hertz's 15.3-litre sealed volume, with internal depth comfortably more than the 104 mm mounting depth. A box of about 300 x 300 x 170 mm can sit in a boot corner, but measure your car first. Secure it with brackets or straps so it stays put over speed breakers and broken roads.
If you keep a factory touchscreen, a speaker-level connection at the head unit harness is the neatest way to feed the amplifier. Mount the amplifier where it gets air, not under the carpet, and fuse its power cable near the battery, to the rating in the amplifier's instructions. Boot-lid and number-plate rattles show up quickly with any sub, so see our sound damping guide. VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation.
Price and where to buy
The Hertz DS 25.3 carries an MRP of ₹9,990. VA3 Car Studio often sells below MRP, so check the current offer on our DS 25.3 product page. The box contains the subwoofer only; Hertz's DSG 250.3 grille is sold separately.

The bottom line
The DS 25.3 is the easy way into proper bass: a 15.3-litre box, a 150 to 200 W amplifier and a ₹9,990 MRP for the driver. It won't match the 12-inch DS 30.3 for output, and owner feedback is missing, so you're buying on Hertz's published figures. For a small boot and a modest budget, though, it's a sensible, well-specified choice.
Hertz DS 25.3 FAQ
What box does the Hertz DS 25.3 need?
Hertz recommends a 15.3-litre sealed box, about 300 x 300 x 170 mm, or an 18-litre reflex box tuned to 43 Hz, about 300 x 300 x 200 mm. Sealed is simpler to build; reflex adds a little depth and output.
What amplifier suits the DS 25.3?
One that delivers 150 to 200 W into 4 Ω. The Zapco ST-2B, rated at 180 W into 4 Ω bridged, fits that range and lists an OEM speaker-level input for factory head units.
Should I buy the DS 25.3 or the DS 30.3?
They share the same MRP. The 12-inch DS 30.3 handles 250 W and is 2 dB more sensitive but needs a 21-litre box and a bigger amplifier. The DS 25.3 fits a 15.3-litre box and runs on 150 to 200 W.
