Recoil REM525 Review: 5.25-Inch Component Set, 100 W RMS Pair

5 min read

The Recoil REM525 is a 5.25-inch two-way component speaker system from Recoil's Echo series, rated at 100 W RMS and 200 W peak for the pair, with polypropylene woofer cones, nitrile rubber (NBR) surrounds and 1 in silk soft-dome tweeters that mount flush or on the surface. Its Indian MRP is ₹10,000, which is ₹4,000 above the coaxial RCX525 and ₹1,000 below the 6.5-inch REM65. You can see the set on our Recoil REM525 product page.

Recoil REM525 Echo 5.25 inch two-way component speakers

Quick summary

  • The continuous rating is 100 W RMS for the pair, about 50 W per speaker if shared equally. The 200 W figure is peak and is not RMS.

  • The tweeters are 1 in silk soft domes that mount flush or on the surface, with a triple-level volume adjustment that Recoil says helps compensate for less-than-perfect placement.

  • Recoil publishes no impedance, sensitivity, frequency response, crossover details, mounting depth or box contents.

  • We found no reviews of the REM525. The 6.5-inch REM65 has five on Recoil's own store, summarised below and labelled as a different model.

These figures come from our listing and Recoil's REM525 page, which agree. The page's size and weight entries are unlabelled, so we leave them out.

Where the tweeters can go

The main reason to choose a component set over a coaxial is that the tweeters can sit somewhere other than the woofer. Recoil says the REM525's tweeter mount allows flush or surface mounting, and that a triple-level volume adjustment helps compensate for less-than-perfect placement. It gives no tweeter depth, cut-out size or mounting hardware list, so measure the spot you have in mind before you cut anything.

A tweeter closer to the listener than the woofer arrives earlier, which is what time alignment corrects; our guide to why a car needs a DSP explains time alignment, EQ and crossovers. Recoil does not describe the REM525's crossover or list what is in the box, so confirm with Recoil or the distributor what comes with the set before you plan the wiring.

Reading 100 W RMS and 200 W peak

Both figures are for the pair and only the first is RMS. The 100W RMS in our listing title is the pair rating, and split evenly that works out at 50 W RMS per speaker, which Recoil does not state itself. Recoil gives no separate tweeter rating in the figures we found; it says only that the oversized tweeter voice coils help heat dissipation and power handling. Size an amplifier by RMS; Recoil's own buying guide says the same, though it is promotional and names no model.

The Recoil P610-PRO DSP amplifier is rated at 4 x 40 W RMS at 4 ohm, 10 W below each speaker's 50 W share, and its time alignment, EQ and crossover functions suit a set with separately placed tweeters. Recoil publishes no impedance for the REM525, so the 4 ohm match is unconfirmed.

What owners and reviewers say about the Recoil REM525

When we checked in October 2026, Recoil's page for the REM525 showed no reviews, and we found no independent owner reviews or tests. Some forum and retailer search pages were blocked or returned errors, so write-ups may exist that we could not see.

The nearest feedback is for a different model, the 6.5-inch REM65 component set, whose Recoil page carries five five-star reviews dated March 2022 to March 2024. They are hosted and moderated by Recoil, so they are not independent, and none covers the REM525. They praise value, soundstage and imaging. One reviewer found the tweeters somewhat bright and linked that partly to their own hearing, and another set the tweeter level to its lowest because of where it sat in the windscreen pillar. The earliest was tested on a home receiver, not in a car. If you own the REM525, leave a comment with your car and tweeter positions.

Recoil REM525 vs RCX525, REM65 and RMM65

The Recoil RCX525 (₹6,000 MRP) is the coaxial. It has the same 100 W RMS and 200 W peak per pair and the same polypropylene cone and NBR surround, but its Tetoron tweeter is built into the woofer, so there is nothing to place separately. The REM525 costs ₹4,000 more.

The Recoil REM65 (₹11,000 MRP) is the 6.5-inch version with the same ratings and tweeter features and a butyl surround; Recoil gives no tweeter size for it, while the REM525's is stated as 1 in. The Echo Plus Recoil RMM65 (₹14,000 MRP) is a 6.5-inch component set rated 160 W RMS per pair that publishes 4 ohm and 89 dB. Choose by the opening you have.

Installation notes for Indian cars

Dash-top and pillar positions take direct sun through the windscreen, so check that the adhesive or foam under a surface-mounted tweeter tolerates the heat, and keep the tweeter wiring clear of airbag trim and moving panels. Where a pillar or dash has no clean place for a tweeter, VA3 Car Studio builds speaker pods and door baffles.

For the woofers, a firm baffle, a foam seal and damping on the door skin all help, and our sound damping guide shows where the material goes. Disconnect the battery before you touch the wiring and test each speaker before the trim goes back on; our installation etiquette guide covers that routine. VA3 Car Studio offers professional installation in Ghaziabad and DSP tuning.

Price and where to buy

The Recoil REM525 has an India MRP of ₹10,000. VA3 Car Studio often sells below MRP, so check today's price on the REM525 product page. Our listing calls it a genuine Recoil product. Recoil's warranty page is written for the US and covers the original purchaser with a receipt from an authorised dealer, so confirm with Recoil or its distributor what applies to stock sold in India.

The bottom line

The REM525 is a 5.25-inch component set with a 100 W RMS pair rating, tweeters that mount flush or on the surface and a triple-level adjustment, but it has a short list of published figures and no reviews of its own. Buy it if you have 5.25-inch openings and want to place the tweeters yourself. Look elsewhere if you want a one-piece swap, which is the RCX525, or if you need published impedance and sensitivity before you buy.

Recoil REM525 FAQ

What is the Recoil REM525's RMS power?

It is rated 100 W RMS for the pair, about 50 W per speaker if shared equally. The 200 W figure is peak, not RMS, and should not be used to size an amplifier.

Does the Recoil REM525 come with crossovers?

Recoil's page does not list the box contents or describe the crossover, so we cannot confirm it. Confirm with Recoil or the distributor before you buy.

Can the REM525 tweeters be flush mounted?

Recoil says the tweeter mount allows flush or surface mounting. It gives no tweeter depth or cut-out size, so measure the spot before you cut.

What is the difference between the REM525 and RCX525?

Both are rated 100 W RMS per pair. The REM525 has separate 1 in silk soft-dome tweeters with a triple-level volume adjustment, while the RCX525 has its tweeter built into the woofer, and the REM525 costs ₹4,000 more at MRP.
