Alpine iLX-F511E Review: An 11-Inch Floating Screen for Single-DIN Dashboards

Updated: Oct 6

The Alpine iLX-F511E is the bigger of the two Alpine floating-screen receivers in our store: an 11-inch capacitive touch screen at 1280 x 720, mounted in front of a single-DIN chassis. Alpine lists wireless Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto, LDAC Bluetooth, HDMI in and out, two camera inputs, a 13-band parametric EQ and three 4 V pre-outs. Its India MRP is ₹94,999, which puts it just above the 9-inch iLX-F509E with the same feature list. It suits owners of SUVs and larger cars who want a very large screen without a custom dash, and who plan to build a proper audio system around it. Today's price is on our Alpine iLX-F511E product page.

Alpine iLX-F511E 11-inch floating-screen media receiver

Quick summary

  • An 11-inch, 720p laminated screen floats in front of a 1-DIN body, so it fits cars without a large dash opening.

  • Wireless CarPlay for iPhone users; Android Auto needs a USB cable, per Alpine's spec sheet and manual.

  • Strong tuning: 13-band parametric EQ per channel, six-channel time correction, crossovers and three 4 V pre-outs.

  • Check your dash first: a panel this size can cover vents, switches or climate controls in some cars.

Features come from Alpine Asia's iLX-F511E page and Alpine India's spec sheet. Camera, steering and tuning details come from the owner's manual shared with the iLX-F509E and iLX-507E.

Is an 11-inch screen right for your dashboard?

The appeal is simple: a screen this size makes maps, reversing camera views and album art far easier to read at a glance. Because the display floats in front of the dash on a single-DIN body, it can go into cars whose opening would never take an 11-inch unit with a frame. Alpine says the floating display, with its new interface, lets you set the best viewing angle, and the manual describes adjusting the display's height on both the iLX-F509E and this model.

The trade-off is coverage. A larger panel sits over more of the centre console, and in some cabins it will shade AC vents, the hazard switch, climate controls or a wireless charging pad. Before buying, hold a cardboard template the size of the screen against your dash, or ask us to check fitment in person.

Resolution is the same 1280 x 720 as the 9-inch model, so the extra size spreads the same pixels over a bigger area and pixel density is lower. Alpine also cites a figure of 2.4 times for its lamination, without saying what was measured, so we read that as marketing. The anti-glare surface and automatic dimmer matter more under Indian sun.

Phone mirroring and media

Alpine's spec sheet is clear even where headlines blur it: CarPlay is wireless and Android Auto is wired. The manual's instruction for Android Auto is to plug the phone into the unit's USB connector, and it notes that wireless CarPlay is unavailable when the Internet Mode is selected. Plan a tidy USB cable route to wherever your Android phone rests.

Alpine highlights voice control for reaching your smartphone's features. Bluetooth streaming supports LDAC, USB playback covers FLAC and WAV along with common video formats, and there are two USB inputs and a 3.5 mm AUX input. The HDMI input takes an external video source, while the HDMI output can drive a second display.

Cameras, steering buttons and sound controls

Two camera inputs cover a reverse camera and a second camera that you can assign as front, side or other. On a long-bonnet SUV, a front camera makes steep basement ramps and tight gates less stressful. The cameras are sold separately. To keep your steering-wheel buttons, the manual says you need the optional steering wheel remote control interface, so add it to the budget.

Alpine's page lists a 13-band parametric EQ on separate channels, preset EQs, six-channel time correction and crossovers. The manual gives time correction from 0 to 20 ms per speaker, filter slopes up to 24 dB per octave, and subwoofer level and phase. Alpine's product pages don't list a power output, so plan on an external amplifier fed from the three 4 V pre-outs. A five-channel amplifier such as the Alpine S2-A55V (40 W RMS x 4 plus 200 W RMS x 1 into 4 Ω) can run four speakers and a subwoofer from one box.

What owners and reviewers say about the Alpine iLX-F511E

When we checked in October 2026, we found no owner reviews, forum discussions or independent tests of the iLX-F511E. Alpine's Asian and Indian pages describe features but carry no customer feedback, so we can't tell you how the screen, mount or software hold up over time. If you have one in your car, we'd value your experience and will add real owner feedback here when we have it.

iLX-F511E vs iLX-F509E and the HDS-990

The Alpine iLX-F509E (₹89,999 MRP) has the same published feature list on a 9-inch screen at the same resolution. Choose the 11-inch for the biggest picture in a roomy dash, and the 9-inch where space around the console is tight; the MRP gap is ₹5,000.

For listeners chasing the last word in file playback, the Status HDS-990 (₹1,64,999 MRP) is a different kind of product. Alpine designs it to work alongside an existing radio, without a tuner or hands-free calling, and to feed a DSP such as the HDP-D90. It is meant to sit alongside a head unit, not replace one.

Who should buy it, and who shouldn't

Buy the iLX-F511E if your dash has room for an 11-inch panel without blocking controls, you use an iPhone or don't mind a cable for Android Auto, and you want strong tuning and pre-outs for a future amplifier.

Choose differently if your console is cramped, in which case the iLX-F509E is the safer fit. The same goes if you need wireless Android Auto, or if your factory screen runs vehicle settings you can't lose.

Installation notes for Indian cars

Start with the dash check, then the wiring. If your car has a factory touchscreen rather than a DIN slot, ask us whether a fascia kit and adapters exist for it and which factory features would be lost. Route the GPS antenna where it has a clear view of the sky, and run reverse-camera wiring before the boot trims go back on.

A big screen in direct sun gets hot and hard to read, so use the anti-glare surface, the auto dimmer and the up-down adjustment to find a comfortable angle. Our guide to single-DIN, double-DIN and Android head units explains the dash sizes involved. VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation.

Price and where to buy

The iLX-F511E has an MRP of ₹94,999. We often sell below MRP, so see the current offer on the iLX-F511E listing. Every unit we sell is a genuine Alpine product.

The bottom line

The iLX-F511E brings an 11-inch screen to cars with a single-DIN opening, with wireless CarPlay, serious tuning tools and clean pre-outs. Go in knowing that Android Auto is wired, steering control needs an interface, and Alpine's product pages don't list power output. If your dash has the room, it gives you an 11-inch screen without rebuilding the console.

Alpine iLX-F511E FAQ

Is the Alpine iLX-F511E screen adjustable?

Yes, within limits. The manual describes adjusting the display's up-down position on the iLX-F509E and iLX-F511E, and Alpine says the floating design helps you set a good viewing angle. In the manual pages we could read, the adjustment range isn't published, so check it in your car.

Does the Alpine iLX-F511E support wireless Android Auto?

No. Alpine's spec sheet lists Android Auto as wired, and the manual says to connect the phone to the USB port. Apple CarPlay is wireless, except when the unit's Internet Mode is selected.

What is the difference between the iLX-F511E and the iLX-F509E?

On Alpine's published lists, the difference is screen size and price. Both list the same 1280 x 720 resolution, wireless CarPlay, wired Android Auto, LDAC, HDMI, cameras and pre-outs. The iLX-F511E has an 11-inch screen at ₹94,999 MRP; the iLX-F509E has a 9-inch screen at ₹89,999.
