Alpine UTX-A09 PRO Review: A Split Hi-Res Receiver, as Head Unit or Add-On
Updated: Oct 6
The Alpine UTX-A09 PRO is a Hi-Res Audio digital media receiver split into two parts: a main unit that can hide away and a 2.4-inch TFT controller for the dashboard, connected by a cable of up to 2.5 m. It plays FLAC, WAV and APE files up to 24-bit / 192 kHz from two USB ports, adds an AM and FM tuner, Bluetooth, a 22 W x 4 amplifier and a DSP with active three-way crossovers, and Alpine says it works as a stand-alone head unit or as an add-on to a factory system. Our store lists it under the SKU UTX-A09PRO, at an Indian MRP of ₹75,999. It suits owners who want a dedicated high-resolution player with proper outputs for a larger system. See today's offer on our Alpine UTX-A09 PRO product page.

Key takeaways
Two roles: a stand-alone head unit, or an add-on that leaves the factory head unit in place, according to Alpine Australia.
High-resolution playback of FLAC, WAV and APE files up to 24-bit / 192 kHz from USB; Alpine doesn't list DSD or a high-resolution Bluetooth codec.
Strong system outputs: three 4 V pre-outs, plus optical and coaxial digital outputs for an external DSP, alongside the built-in 22 W x 4 amplifier.
We found no owner reviews of the UTX-A09 PRO, so judge it on Alpine's published figures.

What the UTX-A09 PRO connects to
How it connects depends on the role you choose.
As a head unit: its 178 x 50 mm main unit matches single-DIN dimensions, and the controller can sit wherever it's easiest to see and reach. USB, Bluetooth and the tuner become your sources, and the built-in amplifier drives four speakers.
As an add-on: the factory head unit stays. Alpine doesn't list a high-level input for the PRO; the UTX-A09 manual describes bringing the factory audio in through a rear AUX input with an adaptor cable sold separately, and an AUX Mix mode that blends navigation prompts with the player's music. A factory unit with only speaker outputs would need a line-output converter first, so ask us to plan it.
To a bigger system: three 4 V pre-outs feed external amplifiers, and the optical and coaxial outputs can feed a DSP with digital inputs, such as the PXE-R100-8. The UTX-A09 manual names the PXE-0850 amplifier (coaxial output) and the PXA-H800 audio processor (optical output) as examples, neither of which we sell, and doesn't state the sample rates of the digital outputs, so check with us before pairing it with a processor.
To your steering wheel: Alpine lists steering-wheel remote compatibility, through an optional interface.
CarPlay and Android Auto aren't listed. If you want those, Alpine's iLX-F509E, which our listing describes as a 9-inch Hi-Res receiver with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, is a different kind of product. Our guide to single-DIN, double-DIN and Android head units explains the trade-offs.
Playback, tuning and the DSP
For high-resolution music, the files come from USB: FLAC, WAV and APE up to 24-bit / 192 kHz, with up to 10,000 songs across the two ports. Bluetooth 4.0 handles calls and streaming, but Alpine doesn't list a high-resolution codec, so keep your best recordings on a drive.
The DSP is aimed at active systems. You get a 9-band parametric EQ for front and rear, six channels of digital time correction up to 9.9 ms, crossovers for a three-way active front stage, and level and phase control for a subwoofer. With three pre-outs and an external amplifier, that is enough to run tweeters, midranges and woofers separately. Our guide to why a car needs a DSP explains what those controls fix.
What owners and reviewers say about the Alpine UTX-A09 PRO
When we checked in October 2026, we found no owner reviews, forum threads or independent tests of the UTX-A09 PRO, or of the earlier UTX-A09. We looked at Alpine's Australian and Asian websites, retailer listings in Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia and the US, and the main car audio forums.
Alpine's own description of a Hi-Res digital media receiver is promotional, though its specifications are detailed and consistent with our listing. If you've fitted a UTX-A09 PRO, tell us how it performs, and we'll add genuine owner feedback here.
UTX-A09 PRO vs UTX-M08S and UTS-A100
The UTX-M08S (₹69,999 MRP) shares the hidden-box-and-controller idea. Alpine lists DSD playback and a high-level input for the M08S; the high-level input suits a factory-system add-on. The A09 PRO adds AM alongside FM, and Alpine lists both optical and coaxial outputs and a stand-alone head-unit role for it. Their amplifier ratings use different test conditions (22 W at 5% distortion against 25 W at 10%), so don't read much into the numbers. The A09 PRO costs ₹6,000 more.
The UTS-A100 (₹48,999 MRP) is a compact phone-to-DSP bridge without a dashboard controller, speaker amplifier or tuner listed. Alpine describes it as connecting a phone to a DSP amplifier or headphones.
Who should buy it, and who shouldn't
Buy the UTX-A09 PRO if you want a dedicated high-resolution player with a tuner, plan an active system with external amplifiers or a DSP, or have a car with a single-DIN slot where a slim controller suits the dashboard better than a big screen.
Look elsewhere if you want CarPlay or Android Auto, play DSD files, or want to keep the factory head unit with the simplest possible wiring, where the UTX-M08S's listed high-level input is the easier fit.
Installation notes for Indian cars
Decide on the controller position first: it should be easy to reach and readable without leaning, and its cable can run up to 2.5 m to the main unit. Keep the main unit out of direct sun and away from heater ducts; a dashboard top in a Delhi summer is no place for electronics. The UTX-A09 manual lists an operating voltage of 11 to 16 V for that model.
For a factory add-on, budget for the AUX adaptor cable and any line-output converter, plus Alpine's steering interface if you want wheel controls. VA3 Car Studio offers professional installation in Ghaziabad and can map the connections for your car before you order.
Price and where to buy
The Alpine UTX-A09 PRO has an India MRP of ₹75,999. VA3 Car Studio often sells below MRP, so check the current offer on the UTX-A09 PRO product page, and tell us whether you plan to use it as a head unit or an add-on.

The bottom line
The UTX-A09 PRO is a flexible Hi-Res source: a high-resolution USB player, tuner and DSP in a slim, hideable package, with the pre-outs and digital outputs a serious system needs. Alpine doesn't list DSD, CarPlay or Android Auto for it, its add-on wiring is less direct than the UTX-M08S's, and we found no owner track record. For a planned active system built around a dedicated player, it makes sense.
Alpine UTX-A09 PRO FAQ
Can the Alpine UTX-A09 PRO work with my factory head unit?
Alpine says it can be an add-on to a factory system. The UTX-A09 manual describes bringing factory audio in through the AUX input with an adaptor cable, so a factory unit with only speaker outputs needs a converter. Ask us to plan the wiring.
Does the UTX-A09 PRO play DSD files?
Alpine Australia lists FLAC, WAV and APE playback up to 24-bit / 192 kHz, but not DSD. If DSD matters to you, the UTX-M08S lists DSD playback up to DSD256.
What outputs does the UTX-A09 PRO have?
A built-in 22 W x 4 amplifier for four speakers, three 4 V pre-outs for external amplifiers, and optical and coaxial digital outputs for a DSP with digital inputs.
