Audison APS 10 Review: Shallow 10-Inch Sealed Sub, D or S4S

6 min read

The Audison APS 10 is a shallow 10-inch (250 mm) subwoofer driver from Audison's Prima range, rated at 400 W continuous and 800 W peak and specified for sealed enclosures from 10 litres. It comes in two versions on one listing: the APS 10 D with dual 4 ohm voice coils and the APS 10 S4S with a single 4 ohm coil, both with a 120 mm profile. The Indian MRP is ₹34,990, and it suits boots or under-seat spaces where a deep sub will not fit. Both versions are on our Audison APS 10 D / S4S product page.

Audison APS 10 shallow 10-inch Prima subwoofer driver

Key takeaways

  • One listing covers two versions: the D (dual 4 ohm coils) and the S4S (single 4 ohm coil), with the same power rating and MRP.

  • Audison specifies a sealed box of 10 litres or more and publishes no ported volume.

  • Choose the amplifier by the 400 W continuous rating and the final impedance; 800 W is a peak figure.

  • Owner evidence is thin: two short buyer reviews, both for the S4S, and none for the D.

Figures come from Audison's APS 10 D page, its APS 10 S4S page, the 2022 datasheets for the D and the S4S, and our listing. Audison's feature text quotes 11 mm of one-way linear excursion against 12.6 mm Xmax in its tables; we show the tabulated figure. Its drawings leave the dimension letters undefined, so ask us to check the space before you cut.

Which Audison APS 10 version: D or S4S?

Both versions share the 250 mm size, 60 mm voice coil, ferrite magnet and 5.24 kg weight. The electrical side differs (the Re and Qts rows above), so work from the figures for the version you buy. A single coil is the simpler wiring job; a dual coil can be wired in series or in parallel, which shows the amplifier a different load each way, so confirm the final load against its rating first. Our guide on figuring out the need for an amplifier covers the basics.

Audison's D page names the AF C4.10 bit (two bridged pairs), the AF M5.11 bit (its sub channel), and the AF C4D and AF M4D (one bridged pair). The S4S page quotes 260 W RMS from the bridged channels it names, and says two S4S drivers wired in parallel (2 ohm) can run from an AF M1D rated at 540 W RMS in custom enclosures. These are amplifier ratings: 260 W RMS is below the driver's 400 W continuous figure, which is a ceiling, not a target.

The sealed box, the 10 litres and the 120 mm profile

Audison's datasheets specify a sealed enclosure from 10 litres, and its D page describes roughly 10 to 12 litres. Audison lists a driver displacement of 1.12 litres, which a box builder adds to the net volume. Audison also offers the APS 10 D ready-boxed as the APBX 10 DS, a sealed 12-litre enclosure. With the bare driver you supply the box, the damping and the labour; VA3 Car Studio builds custom subwoofer boxes to a published volume.

What owners and reviewers say about the Audison APS 10

Owner feedback on this driver was sparse when we checked in October 2026. The OnlineCarStereo page for the APS 10 S4S shows two short customer reviews, dated 2022 and 2023. One buyer fitted it in an 11-litre under-seat box, called it a good choice where space is limited and reported very low bass and strong sound. That buyer also says it handled 500 W, above Audison's 400 W continuous rating, so read it as one person's experience and not a target. The other calls the bass nice and powerful. Both reviews are about the single-coil S4S, not the D.

The D pages we checked at OnlineCarStereo and Sound of Tristate had no customer reviews, and neither did the Frankie's Auto Electrics page for the S4S. Audison's own pages are promotional, so we use them for specifications only. None of the sources we recorded is from an Indian owner. If you have fitted an APS 10, tell us how it behaves in your car.

Audison APS 10 vs JL Audio 10TW3-D4, 10TW1-4 and Hertz MPBX 250 S2

We list two shallow 10-inch drivers from JL Audio: the JL Audio 10TW3-D4 (dual 4 ohm, 400 W RMS, ₹55,990 MRP) and the JL Audio 10TW1-4 (single 4 ohm, 300 W RMS, ₹45,990 MRP). On the listed MRPs, the APS 10 D is ₹21,000 below the 10TW3-D4 and the S4S is ₹11,000 below the 10TW1-4. The makers state power in their own terms, so this is not a like-for-like contest, and JL publishes a mounting depth of 83 mm for the 10TW3 against Audison's 120 mm profile and an Xmax of 15.2 mm against 12.6 mm; compare the drawings, since depth may be measured differently.

For a ready-made box, Audison's sister brand Hertz (both belong to Elettromedia) lists the Hertz MPBX 250 S2, a loaded ultra-shallow sealed 10-inch box rated 500 W continuous and 1000 W peak at 2 ohm, MRP ₹59,990. The APS 10 is the driver alone.

Who should buy the Audison APS 10, and who shouldn't

Buy it if your space is limited in depth but you still want a 10-inch cone, and you accept a sealed enclosure. The S4S fits a plain 4 ohm load; the D suits a build where you want to choose the final impedance.

Look elsewhere if you want a ported alignment (Audison publishes only sealed guidance), you want the box included, or your space is deeper than 120 mm and you choose on excursion; JL lists an Xmax of 15.2 mm for its 10TW3.

Installation notes for Indian cars

A shallow 10-inch driver usually goes into a slim enclosure under a seat or flat in the boot, so measure the free space with the grille and box walls included. Build the box airtight, because a sealed design depends on it: use the supplied gasket under the frame, brace the panels and fix the box so it cannot shift. Boots get hot in an Indian summer, so keep the amplifier out of a closed, unventilated space.

VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation and DSP tuning. Damping the boot floor and rear panel cuts rattles; our guide to applying sound damping in a car shows how.

Audison APS 10 price and where to buy

The Audison APS 10 carries an MRP of ₹34,990, and that one MRP applies to both the D and the S4S on our listing. VA3 Car Studio often sells below MRP, so check the current offer on the Audison APS 10 D / S4S product page, and tell us which version you need when you order.

Audison APS 10 - another view

The bottom line

The Audison APS 10 is a 10-inch driver that suits places where depth is the problem: a 120 mm profile, sealed-only, 400 W continuous and 800 W peak, with a choice of one coil or two. Its case rests on your space and your amplifier, not on owner reports, of which we found very few.

Audison APS 10 FAQ

What is the difference between the Audison APS 10 D and the APS 10 S4S?

The D has two 4 ohm voice coils and the S4S has one 4 ohm coil. Both are rated 400 W continuous and 800 W peak and share one listing and one MRP of ₹34,990.

Can the Audison APS 10 go in a ported box?

Audison specifies a sealed enclosure from 10 litres and publishes no ported volume or tuning, so a sealed box is the documented route. Talk to us before the box is cut if you want another alignment.

How much power does the Audison APS 10 need?

Audison rates it at 400 W continuous and 800 W peak. Choose the amplifier by the continuous figure and the final impedance of your wiring, not by the peak.

Does the Audison APS 10 come with a box?

No. The listing is for the driver, supplied with a steel mesh grille and a plastic gasket. Audison offers the APS 10 D ready-boxed as the APBX 10 DS, and VA3 Car Studio builds custom subwoofer boxes.
