DS18 FRP-1.2K4/TI Review: Four Channels Rated 120 W at 4 Ω and 300 W at 1 Ω
The DS18 FRP-1.2K4/TI is a compact four-channel full-range Class D amplifier in a titanium finish, rated at 4 x 120 W RMS at 4 Ω, 4 x 200 W at 2 Ω and 4 x 300 W at 1 Ω. The 1,200 W in its name matches the total of the four channels at 1 Ω, not what it delivers at 4 Ω, where the same four channels total 480 W. DS18 states no peak figure. Its India MRP is ₹49,990, ₹6,000 below the FRP-2.4K4/TI, and its ratings suit speakers rated for 120 W RMS or more per channel at 4 Ω. You can see it on our DS18 FRP-1.2K4/TI product page.

Quick summary
RMS per channel is 120 W at 4 Ω, 200 W at 2 Ω and 300 W at 1 Ω; the 1,200 W headline is the 1 Ω total. DS18 states no peak figure or supply voltage.
DS18 lists a 2CH / 4CH input selector and a 10 Hz to 2 kHz crossover, with no high-level input.
Efficiency is listed at 97% at 4 Ω, with one smart-cooling fan, a 4 GA terminal and a 140 A recommended fuse.
DS18's shop shows no reviews on the titanium page; the blue and red pages carry one review each, for other finishes.

Figures come from DS18's FRP-1.2K4/TI page and its FRP multi-channel manual. They match our listing, except that our listing does not mention the 2CH / 4CH selector that DS18's page and manual list. DS18's page gives 400 mV – 6 V for the low-level input while the manual's controls section gives a 3.6 V maximum.
Where the 1,200 W comes from
DS18's page title and our listing both say 1,200 W RMS, and neither attaches a load to that headline. The number equals four 300 W channels at 1 Ω. Going down in load, the totals rise: 4 x 120 W is 480 W at 4 Ω, 4 x 200 W is 800 W at 2 Ω and 4 x 300 W is 1,200 W at 1 Ω. Bridged, two channels make 2 x 350 W at 4 Ω (700 W in total) or 2 x 500 W at 2 Ω (1,000 W in total).
Read the line that matches your load, not the name. DS18 gives no supply voltage for any rating, and no peak, max or burst figure appears on its page or in its manual. The manual's bridging diagrams were not legible to us, so confirm the bridging terminals on the unit.
Input selector, crossover and bass boost
DS18's manual describes the selector this way: in the 2-channel position, one input on channels 1 and 2 drives outputs 1-2 and 3-4, and in the 4-channel position each input pair feeds only its own outputs. DS18 lists no high-level input, so a factory radio without RCA outputs needs a line-output converter or a DSP in between; our guide to why a car may need a DSP explains the second route. The crossover is a selectable HPF / full / LPF from 10 Hz to 2 kHz with no slope stated, and bass boost is 0 – 12 dB at 50 Hz.
Heat, the fan and fusing
DS18 lists 97% efficiency at 4 Ω and one smart-cooling fan, which its manual describes as an air-recirculation system. Thermal protection engages when the heatsink passes 90 °C, and the manual asks for proper ventilation without giving a mounting position. For wiring, it calls for a fuse within 18 inches (about 46 cm) of the battery, fitted last, with 140 A recommended for this model, and a ground to bare metal near the amplifier. The terminal is 4 GA. For signal leads we list DS18's R6 Level 2 RCA cable (6 feet) and the R1F2M Y-connector.
What owners and reviewers say about the DS18 FRP-1.2K4/TI
When we checked in October 2026, DS18's own titanium FRP-1.2K4/TI page showed no customer reviews, and we have not read independent reviews or forum threads. The same amplifier in other finishes has one review each on DS18's shop, so these cover the blue and red versions, not the titanium one. On the blue FRP-1.2K4/BL page, the reviewer is happy with it for driving tweeters and says they run another FRP amplifier on 8-inch speakers, adding that DS18 is for people who like it loud. On the red FRP-1.2K4/RD page, the reviewer calls it a great amplifier, uses it for their tweeters and praises the very clear sound. Two short comments are all the owner feedback we can point to.
FRP-1.2K4/TI against the FRP-2.4K4/TI, G1000.4D and SXE-1200.4/RD
Its sibling, the DS18 FRP-2.4K4/TI (₹55,990 MRP, ₹6,000 more), is rated 4 x 250 W at 4 Ω and 4 x 600 W at 1 Ω, which is 2,400 W in total at 1 Ω. Its recommended fuse is 240 A against 140 A here, and it is 262 mm long and 2.3 kg gross against 183 mm and 1.6 kg. Keep the two sets of figures apart: 1,200 W and 2,400 W are 1 Ω totals for different amplifiers.
The DS18 G1000.4D (₹22,990 MRP, ₹27,000 less) is rated 4 x 90 W at 4 Ω and lists a high-level input and no cooling fan. The DS18 SXE-1200.4/RD (₹14,990 MRP, ₹35,000 less) is a Class AB amplifier rated 4 x 60 W at 4 Ω with 64% listed efficiency.
Who should buy it, and who shouldn't
Buy the FRP-1.2K4/TI if your speakers can take about 120 W RMS per channel at 4 Ω, your source has RCA outputs, and you want a 1 Ω stereo minimum with a bridged option. If you are still weighing whether to add an amplifier, our guide to the need for an amplifier covers the basics.
Look elsewhere if your radio has no RCA outputs and you want a built-in high-level input (the G1000.4D lists one), or you expect 1,200 W at 4 Ω, where this amplifier is rated 480 W in total.
Installation notes for Indian cars
Measure the 63.5 mm height and leave room for the fan to move air before you pick a spot. VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation and can make door baffles or speaker pods for the speakers it drives. DS18's manual points to ds18.com for the warranty; the warranty is per DS18's published terms, so confirm India terms with us.
Price and where to buy
The DS18 FRP-1.2K4/TI has an India MRP of ₹49,990. VA3 Car Studio often sells below MRP, so check the current offer on the FRP-1.2K4/TI listing, which describes it as a genuine DS18 product.

The bottom line
The FRP-1.2K4/TI is a four-channel Class D amplifier whose 1,200 W name is a 1 Ω total; at 4 Ω it is rated 4 x 120 W. With no reviews on its own page and no high-level input, treat it as a specification-led choice and read the ratings line for your load.
DS18 FRP-1.2K4/TI FAQ
Is the DS18 FRP-1.2K4/TI a 1,200 W amplifier?
Only at 1 Ω. The 1,200 W RMS headline matches four 300 W channels at 1 Ω; at 4 Ω the rating is 4 x 120 W, or 480 W in total.
What is the difference between the FRP-1.2K4/TI and the FRP-2.4K4/TI?
They are sibling four-channel amplifiers. The 1.2K4 is rated 4 x 120 W at 4 Ω with a 140 A fuse and is 183 mm long; the 2.4K4 is rated 4 x 250 W at 4 Ω with a 240 A fuse and is 262 mm long.
Does the FRP-1.2K4/TI have a high-level input?
DS18 lists it as No. The inputs are low-level RCA, so a factory radio without RCA outputs would need a line-output converter or a DSP in between.
