DS18 PRO-TWN4 Review: 3-Inch Hybrid Tweeter, 140 W RMS (Program)
The DS18 PRO-TWN4 is a 3-inch high-compression hybrid driver/tweeter with a neodymium magnet, rated at 140 W RMS (program) and 280 W peak into 4 ohm, with a listed sensitivity of 105 dB. Its Indian MRP is ₹6,990, the lowest of the three PRO-series tweeters we list, and a bass blocker is supplied with it. It suits an installer who is building a tweeter pod or pillar mount and is happy to set a proper high-pass and trim the level. This review covers the figures (and which power number to size an amplifier against), how to set it up, what the feedback on DS18's own shop says, and how it compares with its siblings. You can see it on our DS18 PRO-TWN4 product page.

Key takeaways
It is sold as a single tweeter, so a left-and-right pair means buying two.
Three power figures are listed: 140 W RMS (program), 280 W peak and 70 W AES. Size the amplifier against the RMS (program) figure, never the peak.
With 105 dB sensitivity and a 2 kHz recommended high-pass, it needs a filter and a level control rather than a full-range feed.
It flush-mounts in a 52 mm cutout and needs 28.7 mm of depth, and DS18 lists a PRO-TWN4VC replacement diaphragm.

Reading the DS18 PRO-TWN4 power ratings
This is the part of a DS18 tweeter listing that trips people up. Our listing gives 140 W RMS (program), 280 W peak and 70 W AES. DS18's product page lists the same tweeter as RMS Power 140 W with 280 W peak, and its overview calls the 280 W figure MAX. The manual labels the three numbers Program, Peak and AES and never uses the word RMS. So the 140 W is the figure DS18 and our listing treat as RMS (program), the 280 W is a peak or maximum figure, and the 70 W AES figure is the lowest of the three.
Use the RMS (program) number when you choose an amplifier, and treat the peak number as a short-burst allowance, not a target. DS18's own help page tells buyers to choose an amplifier that can output the correct RMS rating for the speakers, and it describes clipping as distortion from an overdriven amplifier. Tweeters are particularly exposed to it, because a clipped signal carries extra high-frequency energy straight into a small voice coil.
In a car this tweeter is unlikely to need anything close to 140 W. DS18 says the lightweight neodymium magnet maximises sensitivity so that less power is needed for louder sound. That is a promotional claim, but the 105 dB rating points the same way: a few watts of clean power go a long way.
Setting up the PRO-TWN4: high-pass, bass blocker and level
DS18 lists a 1.5 kHz to 20 kHz response and a recommended high-pass of 2 kHz. Treat 2 kHz as the starting point. If it sounds edgy or strained at higher volumes, raise the crossover frequency a little before blaming the tweeter.
DS18 says each PRO-TWN4 includes a bass blocker to guard the tweeter from damaging low frequencies. Since the value is not published, think of it as a safety net, not a replacement for a high-pass set on a DSP or amplifier channel.
The bigger job is level. At 105 dB the tweeter will usually play noticeably louder than the door speaker it sits with, for the same power. A DSP or a spare amplifier channel makes the trim easy; our guides on why a DSP is worth having and how to set one up cover the steps.
What owners and reviewers say about the DS18 PRO-TWN4
We did not find independent owner reviews, forum threads or magazine tests for the PRO-TWN4 that we could read when we checked in October 2026. The feedback we could read sits on DS18's own shop page, which is the maker's shop, so it is not independent.
That page showed 14 reviews but displayed only five. The rating bars put 10, 3 and 1 reviews into three bars; the text we read carried no star labels or average, so we are not quoting a score. Of the five on show, two carry nothing but the product name and one has a title praising the sound and no text. Of the other two, one owner says the tweeter made the car louder when paired with a super tweeter, and another calls it a favourite hybrid tweeter or horn and says it sounds great. Nobody in those five describes a fault, a crossover setting or an amplifier, so there is nothing here about set-up or long-term use.
If you run one, we would like to hear how you set it up. DS18's page and manual are manufacturer material, so read their claims as promotional.
DS18 PRO-TWN4 vs PRO-TW820, PRO-TWN6.4 and GTX1
The DS18 PRO-TW820 (₹7,990 MRP) is the smaller body at 2.3 inches, rated 100 W RMS (program) with the same 105 dB. DS18 recommends a 3 kHz high-pass for it against 2 kHz for the PRO-TWN4. Its cutout is smaller at 43 mm against 52 mm, but it needs at least 42 mm of depth against 28.7 mm.
The DS18 PRO-TWN6.4 (₹9,990 MRP) is the larger step: 4 inches, 150 W RMS (program), 109 dB, a 32 mm (1.25 in) voice coil and a polyimide diaphragm. It needs an 82 mm cutout, and DS18 does not list a bass blocker for it.
The cheaper DS18 GTX1 (₹5,990 MRP) is also 3 inches, with 120 W RMS (program), 98 dB and a titanium diaphragm. DS18 recommends a 3 kHz high-pass for it, and its listing mentions a grille, which the PRO-TWN4 listing does not. The PRO-TWN4 lists higher sensitivity and a response that starts at 1.5 kHz instead of 3 kHz. Neither set of figures tells you which will sound better in your car.
Who should buy it, and who shouldn't
Buy the PRO-TWN4 if you are building tweeter pods or pillar mounts, you have a DSP or spare amplifier channel for filtering and level, and you want a 3-inch flush-mount driver that only needs a 52 mm opening.
Look elsewhere if you want a drop-in front stage. A component set such as the DS18 G6.5XC is simpler, because it arrives with passive crossovers that set the filtering for you. And remember that the PRO-TWN4 is one tweeter, not a pair.
Installation notes for Indian cars
Measure before you buy: you need a 52 mm opening and 28.7 mm of clear depth behind the trim. Test the tweeter in position with the trim loose and the music playing before you finish the panel, because aim changes what you hear.
A dash-top spot gets very hot in an Indian summer, so fix the tweeter mechanically instead of relying on tape or adhesive alone. VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation, and can build speaker pods and door baffles if a pillar or door panel has no flat place for it.
DS18 PRO-TWN4 price and where to buy
The DS18 PRO-TWN4 carries an MRP of ₹6,990 in our catalogue. VA3 Car Studio often sells below MRP, so check the current offer on the PRO-TWN4 product page. The listing is for one tweeter; order two for left and right. DS18 lists the PRO-TWN4VC as the replacement diaphragm, so check availability before you count on repairing one.

The bottom line
The DS18 PRO-TWN4 is a compact, high-sensitivity tweeter for people who will filter and level-match it properly. The figures are clear once you separate them: 140 W RMS (program) is the number to design around, 280 W is peak, and 105 dB usually means the tweeter needs turning down. The feedback we could read comes only from DS18's own shop and is thin, so judge it on the specifications and on how well you can set it up.
DS18 PRO-TWN4 FAQ
Is the DS18 PRO-TWN4 sold as a pair?
No. The listing is for a single tweeter, one piece, so a left-and-right setup needs two. Check the quantity before you order, and ask us if you are unsure.
What is the RMS power of the DS18 PRO-TWN4?
Our listing and DS18's product page give 140 W RMS (program) at 4 ohm. The 280 W figure is peak, and 70 W is the AES rating. Size your amplifier against the RMS (program) figure, not the peak.
Does the PRO-TWN4 need a crossover or high-pass filter?
DS18 recommends a 2 kHz high-pass and says each tweeter includes a bass blocker to guard against damaging low frequencies. The bass blocker's value is not published, so also set a high-pass on your amplifier or DSP.
Can the PRO-TWN4 be repaired?
DS18 says it is easily repaired with the PRO-TWN4VC replacement diaphragm. Check that the part is available in India before you rely on a repair.
