Hertz DSK 130.3 Review: A 5-Inch Component Set for Smaller Door Openings

Updated: Oct 6

The Hertz DSK 130.3 is a 5-inch (130 mm) two-way component set from the Dieci range, pairing DV 130.3 woofers with the same DT 24.3 tweeters used in the larger DSK 165.3. Hertz rates it at 60 W continuous (120 W peak) into 4 Ω, with 93 dB sensitivity and a 60 Hz to 23 kHz response. Its India MRP is ₹10,990, exactly the same as the 6.5-inch kit, so the choice between them comes down to your car's door openings rather than price. It is meant for cars whose doors take a 5-inch speaker but still have room for a tweeter higher up. Details and today's price are on our Hertz DSK 130.3 product page.

Hertz DSK 130.3 Dieci 5-inch two-way component speaker system

Quick summary

  • A component set for smaller doors: 130 mm paper V-cone woofers, 24 mm PEI-dome tweeters, and a 3.5 kHz, 12 dB per octave tweeter filter.

  • 60 W continuous and 93 dB: fine on a head unit, and a good match for a 60 W-per-channel amplifier.

  • The woofer's published Fs is 81 Hz, so bass below the 60 Hz rating is a job for a subwoofer.

  • No owner reviews of this exact kit turned up; feedback on its siblings is positive but thin.

Figures come from Hertz's official DSK 130.3 page and match our listing. The woofer's dimensions are printed only as lettered figures (130, 116, 58, 52 and 151 mm) without a legend, so no cutout or mounting depth is clearly labelled.

Same tweeter, smaller woofer

Everything above 3.5 kHz is shared with the Hertz DSK 165.3: the same 24 mm PEI dome, the same acoustic lens and the same 12 dB per octave high-pass. Our listing describes the filter as built into the supplied connection cables, the arrangement Hertz also describes for the 6.5-inch kit, so there are no crossover boxes to hide. The tweeter is also sold alone as the DT 24.3 tweeter kit, with a gentler filter.

The difference is all in the woofer. The DV 130.3 has a 112 mm cone against the larger woofer's 135 mm, a smaller 70 x 32 x 15 mm magnet, and a higher resonance (81 Hz against 67 Hz). Hertz rates it 20 W lower in continuous handling, and 10 Hz shallower in response. Both woofers have the same 2 mm Xmax. In plain terms, the 5-inch kit gives up some midbass weight in exchange for fitting where a 6.5-inch won't.

Midbass, subwoofers and realistic expectations

A 5-inch woofer with an 81 Hz resonance should handle vocals and guitars cleanly, and Hertz describes the V-cone as giving clear mid-high detail and powerful bass. Physics still applies: a small cone with 2 mm of excursion can't move much air at the bottom end. Played loudly with deep bass, it will run out of travel before it runs out of power handling.

The practical answer is to stop asking it for deep bass. With an amplifier, high-pass the woofers somewhere around 80 to 100 Hz and add a compact subwoofer. The Dieci Hertz DBA 201 is an 8-inch active box with its own amplifier, or a DS 25.3 10-inch driver can go in a small sealed box. With the bottom octave handled elsewhere, a 5-inch component set can hold its own in a small cabin.

Factory head unit or amplifier?

At 93 dB, the DSK 130.3 plays at a sensible level on head-unit power, and that is how many will run it at first. An amplifier adds headroom for highway noise and keeps the tweeters clean at volume. The Hertz DP 4.300 delivers 60 W per channel into 4 Ω, matching the kit's 60 W continuous rating, so set its gains with a test tone rather than by ear. Its speaker-level inputs mean it can work with a factory touchscreen.

What owners and reviewers say about the Hertz DSK 130.3

We found no owner or press reviews of this exact kit when we checked in October 2026. Four Car Audio, a UK Hertz dealer that shows reviews for most of the other Dieci speakers we sell, lists the DSK 130.3 with none. Its description, supplied by Hertz, calls the kit very efficient and suitable for any source; that is promotional.

The closest feedback comes from related products. Four Car Audio's DSK 165.3 page has ten reviews dated 2014 to 2026, eight at the top score, including one describing a warm sound and one owner running the kit on head-unit power; that covers the 6.5-inch kit, not this one. Its DT 24.3 page has two short, top-rated reviews of the standalone tweeter, which is the tweeter in this kit. Neither tells you how the 5-inch woofer performs. If you own a DSK 130.3, we'd like to hear how it sounds in your car.

DSK 130.3 vs DSK 165.3 and DCX 130.3

If your door can take a 6.5-inch woofer, directly or with an adapter, the DSK 165.3 is the better buy at the same ₹10,990: more cone, 80 W continuous handling and a response quoted down to 50 Hz. The DSK 130.3 is for doors where it can't.

The alternative in the same size is the Hertz DCX 130.3 coaxial (₹7,990 MRP), which mounts a 15 mm tweeter in the woofer's centre and is rated at 40 W continuous. It is ₹3,000 cheaper and simpler to fit, but the component set's 24 mm tweeter can sit higher, on the dash or A-pillar, where it can do more for the soundstage.

Who should buy it, and who shouldn't

Buy the DSK 130.3 if your front doors take 5-inch speakers and you want a proper component front stage with tweeters up high, now or with an amplifier later.

Look elsewhere if your doors can take 6.5-inch woofers, or if you want strong bass from the doors alone. In the first case the DSK 165.3 costs the same; in the second, budget for a subwoofer whichever kit you choose.

Installation notes for Indian cars

Check the opening before ordering: speaker sizes around 5 inches are often described loosely, and screw-hole patterns vary between cars. Measure the depth behind the factory speaker and the window glass travel, or ask us to check fitment for your car. Damping the door skin and sealing the large holes in the inner panel helps any door speaker, and a small woofer needs all the midbass it can keep; our sound damping guide explains the method.

Mount the tweeters high on the A-pillars or dash corners using the supplied surface or flush accessories, keep the cable filters away from water inside the door, and aim the tweeters across the car. VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation.

Hertz DSK 130.3 - another view

The bottom line

The DSK 130.3 brings the Dieci component recipe, with the DT 24.3 tweeter and cable-mounted filters, to cars with 5-inch doors. It is efficient and easy to drive, and the shared tweeter means its top end matches the bigger kit's. Pair it with a subwoofer and a high-pass filter, and only choose it over the DSK 165.3 when your doors leave you no option.

Hertz DSK 130.3 FAQ

Can the Hertz DSK 130.3 replace 5-inch factory door speakers?

Yes, if the opening, screw pattern and depth suit it. Hertz prints only lettered dimensions, so measure the factory speaker or ask us to check your car before you order.

Should I buy the DSK 130.3 or the DSK 165.3?

Choose by your door opening. Both cost ₹10,990 MRP, but the DSK 165.3 has a larger cone, 80 W continuous handling and deeper rated bass. Pick the DSK 130.3 only if a 6.5-inch woofer won't fit.

Does the DSK 130.3 need a subwoofer?

For full-range music, yes. Its woofer resonates at 81 Hz and is rated down to 60 Hz, so a compact subwoofer handles the bottom octave while the doors play cleaner with a high-pass filter.
