JL Audio VXi-HUB Review: Networking Several VXi DSP Amplifiers as One System
Updated: Oct 6
The JL Audio VXi-HUB is a network hub that joins several JL VXi DSP amplifiers so they can be set up, tuned and controlled as one system. JL's 2026 Indian catalogue says a single hub networks up to six VXi amplifiers, with full-system DRC remote control and preset selection, and that two daisy-chained hubs can command up to ten. Its Indian MRP is ₹23,990, and it is only for buyers running two or more VXi amplifiers, typically in a large sound-quality build where one amplifier's channels aren't enough. See it on our VXi-HUB product page.

Quick facts
Links VXi amplifiers over JL's JLid protocol, so every amplifier is tuned from a single TüN project file.
Distributes optical digital audio from one S/PDIF input to five outputs, at up to 24-bit/192 kHz.
Powered by the connected amplifiers, with an accessory port for the VXi-BTC Bluetooth module.
The six-amplifier figure comes from JL's Indian catalogue; a US dealer lists five, so confirm before planning a six-amplifier system.

The amplifier count comes from the 2026 Indian catalogue; the port, audio, power and size details come from our store listing. JL's VXi-HUB page on Garmin's site confirms the product name and part number, but the specification table wasn't readable to us, so we couldn't check the amplifier count against an official figure.
Why network VXi amplifiers at all
A single VXi amplifier offers five, six or eight channels. That covers most systems, but an ambitious build can outgrow it: an active three-way front stage takes six channels before rear speakers or subwoofers are counted. Two or more amplifiers then become necessary.
Without a hub, each VXi is a separate processor with its own tuning file, presets and remote. The VXi-HUB turns them into one network. According to our listing, every amplifier is set up and tuned from a single TüN project file, DSP presets and DRC remote commands are synchronised across the network, and optical digital audio can be shared between amplifiers. One press on a DRC-205 remote then changes the whole system, not just one amplifier.
One sensible pairing puts an active three-way front and rear fill on a VX800/8i, with a VX1000/5i adding more channels and a 600 W subwoofer channel for a dual 4 Ω sub such as the 12W6v3-D4 wired to 2 Ω. Our explainer on the need for DSP in car audio covers why central tuning matters so much in a car.
Six amplifiers or five?
Follow the catalogue, but plan with care. JL's 2026 Indian catalogue says up to six VXi amplifiers per hub and up to ten with two hubs daisy-chained, and our listing describes the six as one master and five more. We couldn't find an official JL specification to confirm the figure, and one US dealer listing we found says the hub connects up to five.
For a two- or three-amplifier system, which covers most networked builds, the difference doesn't matter. If your design genuinely depends on a sixth amplifier on one hub, ask us to confirm with the Indian distributor before you buy.
Ports, optical audio and power
The hub carries one JLid-COMM master port and five further JLid-COMM ports, all using CAT5e network cables, and JL's catalogue photo shows six RJ-45 sockets along its front edge. There is also an accessory port for the VXi-BTC, so one Bluetooth module gives a compatible phone access to the whole network.
The optical section takes one S/PDIF input and offers five optical outputs at up to 24-bit/192 kHz. Sharing a digital signal this way avoids long analogue runs between amplifiers, where noise can creep in. The hub draws its power from the connected amplifiers, so it needs no separate supply or fuse.
Our listing shows only the hub and a connection guide in the box, so budget for the CAT5e leads and ask us to include them when you order. At about 165 x 98 x 27 mm, it is small enough to sit beside the amplifiers.
What owners and reviewers say about the JL Audio VXi-HUB
When we checked in October 2026, we found no owner or press reviews of the hub that we could verify. What we can report are product claims: the catalogue's networking figures and our listing's description of single-file tuning, synchronised presets and optical distribution. Treat those as descriptions of intended function rather than tested performance.
Feedback on the VXi amplifiers themselves is limited too. On OnlineCarStereo, a VX800/8i owner calls the built-in DSP very handy, but that review concerns the amplifier, not the hub. If you run a networked VXi system, we'd value hearing how it has worked.
Who needs a VXi-HUB
You need one if you're running two or more VXi amplifiers and want them tuned, switched and controlled as a single system. In that case the ₹23,990 MRP is modest against the amplifiers it joins, which start at ₹1,89,990 each.
You don't if one VXi has enough channels; the eight-channel VX800/8i covers an active three-way front plus two more. Nor do you need one to add a conventional amplifier for bass: a VXi with a configurable output, such as the VX600/6i, can feed a separate subwoofer amplifier directly. The hub only networks VXi models, so a non-VXi amplifier wouldn't share presets or remote control anyway.
Installation notes for Indian cars
JL's catalogue photo shows flanged mounting feet, so the hub can be screwed down beside the amplifiers, whether under a seat or behind a boot panel. Keep the CAT5e and optical cables away from sharp metal edges and seat runners, and don't bend optical leads tightly; they can be damaged by kinks.
Multi-amplifier systems also need a planned power supply, because each VXi has its own fuse requirement, 50 A for the VX600/6i and 80 A for the other two. A measured tune across several amplifiers is installer's work; JL's MAX measurement system works with VXi amplifiers' DSP, and our guide to setting up a DSP shows what's involved. VA3 Car Studio designs and installs networked VXi systems in Ghaziabad.
Price and where to buy
The JL Audio VXi-HUB carries an MRP of ₹23,990 in the 2026 Indian price list. We often sell it below MRP; check the current offer on our VXi-HUB store listing. It's a genuine JL Audio product from the Indian distributor, Supreme Audiotek, and we're happy to quote it with the amplifiers and cables.

The bottom line
The VXi-HUB is a small, inexpensive part that makes a multi-amplifier VXi system behave as one, with a single tuning file, synchronised presets, network-wide remote control and shared optical audio. It is irrelevant for a single-amplifier car. If your plan stretches to six amplifiers, get the count confirmed first, since only the Indian catalogue gives that figure.
JL Audio VXi-HUB FAQ
How many amplifiers can the JL Audio VXi-HUB connect?
JL's 2026 Indian catalogue says up to six VXi amplifiers per hub, and up to ten with two hubs daisy-chained. One US dealer lists five and we found no official figure, so ask us to confirm if you need the sixth.
Does the VXi-HUB need its own power supply?
No. According to our listing it is powered by the connected VXi amplifiers. It needs only CAT5e network cables, and optical leads if you use its audio distribution.
Do I need a VXi-HUB with a single VXi amplifier?
No. The hub exists to join two or more VXi amplifiers into one network. A single amplifier is tuned directly in TüN and controlled with a DRC-205 remote or the VXi-BTC module.
