Onkyo V-T100.4A Review: 100 W x 4 Class AB Amplifier and Its Bridged Rating

5 min read

The Onkyo V-T100.4A is a 4-channel Class AB amplifier rated at 100 W x 4 RMS at 4 Ω, 125 W x 4 at 2 Ω and 200 W x 2 bridged at 4 Ω, with a separate 2,500 W maximum-power figure. Its Indian MRP is ₹20,990, the highest of the three V-T four-channel amplifiers we list and ₹9,000 below the X-A120.4A. It suits front speakers rated near 100 W RMS, and its bridged rating also covers a single driver that wants 200 W at 4 Ω. You can see it on our Onkyo V-T100.4A product page.

Onkyo V-T100.4A 4-channel Class AB car amplifier

Quick summary

  • Three RMS ratings from Onkyo: 100 W x 4 at 4 Ω, 125 W x 4 at 2 Ω and 200 W x 2 bridged at 4 Ω. The 2,500 W figure is a maximum, not RMS.

  • 377 x 217 x 55 mm and about 3 kg. Unlike the V-T80.4A and V-T60.4A, it lists no fuse size, and like them it lists no distortion figure.

  • Same MRP as the V-T750.5A and the Hertz DP 4.300, though Hertz states its ratings at 14.4 V with a distortion limit and Onkyo gives neither.

  • Input connector types and filters go unlisted, and our October 2026 search found no owner reviews.

We checked the table against Onkyo's V-T100.4A page and our store listing, and the two give the same values. Neither source gives a distortion figure, a fuse size or a feature list.

Reading the three ratings

Most car speakers are 4 Ω, so the 100 W x 4 line is the one to set against a speaker's RMS rating. The 2 Ω line is 25 W higher per channel and applies only if a channel is loaded down to 2 Ω, for instance by two 4 Ω speakers wired in parallel, which is unusual for door speakers. The bridged line joins channels in pairs: 200 W x 2 into 4 Ω suits a single driver that wants more than 100 W.

Onkyo does not say what supply voltage or distortion level sits behind these ratings. It describes bridging only through the rating, and does not say whether one pair can be bridged while the other stays in stereo. Check the terminal markings on the unit before planning a speakers-plus-subwoofer layout on one amplifier.

Factory head units and DSPs

Input sensitivity is listed as 0.15 to 8 V, but the connector types are not. Many factory touchscreens have no pre-outs, so the usual routes are a DSP with high-level inputs or an amplifier with speaker-level inputs. The Onkyo R-MS26 lists four high-level input channels and eight low-level output channels, enough to take a factory signal and feed this amplifier, provided the inputs match. Our guide to when a car needs an amplifier covers the basics, and VA3 Car Studio offers DSP tuning for a unit like that.

What owners and reviewers say about the Onkyo V-T100.4A

Our October 2026 look for owner reviews, forum discussion and independent tests of the Onkyo V-T100.4A came back empty. What can be read is Onkyo's specification table, a manufacturer page rather than a review, and our listing, which shows no customer reviews; Onkyo's download page lists no file for this amplifier. Its sound, its running temperature and the bridged mode in a real install therefore remain unverified, and reports from owners would be useful.

V-T100.4A against the V-T80.4A, V-T750.5A and Hertz DP 4.300

The Onkyo V-T80.4A (₹14,990 MRP) lists 80 W x 4 at 4 Ω, 100 W x 4 at 2 Ω and 150 W x 2 bridged. The V-T100.4A is ₹6,000 higher at MRP and lists 20 W more per channel at 4 Ω and 50 W more bridged. The V-T80.4A lists a fuse size of 20 A x 2, and this model lists none.

The Onkyo V-T750.5A has the same MRP. It gives up 25 W per speaker channel at 4 Ω in return for a fifth, 350 W channel.

The Hertz DP 4.300 is also ₹20,990 at MRP. Hertz rates it at 14.4 V as 60 W x 4 at 4 Ω for 1% distortion (75 W x 4 at 10%), 85 W x 4 at 2 Ω and 170 W x 2 bridged at 4 Ω. Because Onkyo gives no supply voltage or distortion level, its 100 W cannot be ranked against the Hertz's 60 W or 75 W. Hertz also lists filters from 50 Hz to 4 kHz, pre-in and speaker-in inputs and a 2 x 20 A fuse, and the Hertz is smaller at 290 x 190 x 50 mm.

Who should buy it, and who shouldn't

Buy the V-T100.4A if your speakers are rated near 100 W RMS per channel, or you want a bridged output of 200 W into 4 Ω, and you will confirm the controls and input connectors before ordering.

Look elsewhere if your speakers are rated nearer 80 W (the V-T80.4A is ₹6,000 lower at MRP), you want a fifth channel for a subwoofer (the V-T750.5A), or you need distortion, fuse and filter details published (the Hertz lists them).

Installation notes for Indian cars

At 377 mm the V-T100.4A is 22 mm longer than the V-T80.4A and V-T60.4A, which are 355 mm, so measure the space under a seat or on the boot board before ordering. Class AB amplifiers run warm, and a closed boot in an Indian summer adds to that, so leave a gap around the chassis and keep it off carpet.

The V-T80.4A and V-T60.4A each list a 20 A x 2 fuse size but this model lists none, so do not assume it matches theirs. With no fuse size or supply range published, the main fuse and power cable are sized at fitting. If the speakers need a proper mounting surface, VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad also makes door baffles alongside its professional installation.

Price and where to buy

The Onkyo V-T100.4A has an MRP of ₹20,990. VA3 Car Studio often sells below MRP, so check the current price on the V-T100.4A listing. Warranty terms are set by Onkyo; confirm them with us before ordering.

Onkyo V-T100.4A - another view

The bottom line

Of the three V-T four-channel amplifiers we list, the V-T100.4A has the highest rating at 4 Ω, at 2 Ω and bridged, and its sheet is thinner than its siblings' in one respect: no fuse size. Treat the 100 W as Onkyo's number, not a measured one, and confirm the unit's controls and input connectors before building a system around it.

Onkyo V-T100.4A FAQ

What is the Onkyo V-T100.4A's power rating at 2 Ω?

Onkyo lists 125 W x 4 RMS at 2 Ω, against 100 W x 4 at 4 Ω and 200 W x 2 bridged at 4 Ω. The 2,500 W figure is a maximum, not RMS.

Can the V-T100.4A be bridged?

Onkyo lists a bridged rating of 200 W x 2 at 4 Ω, so bridging is part of the published ratings. The page does not describe the wiring or say whether one pair can be bridged while the other stays in stereo, so check the unit's terminals first.

What is the difference between the V-T100.4A and the V-T80.4A?

The V-T100.4A lists 100 W x 4, 125 W x 4 and 200 W x 2 bridged, against 80 W x 4, 100 W x 4 and 150 W x 2 for the V-T80.4A. Its MRP is ₹6,000 higher, and it lists no fuse size where the V-T80.4A lists 20 A x 2.
