Audison AF C4D Review: Compact 4-Channel Amp With No Crossover

6 min read

The Audison AF C4D is a compact four-channel Class D amplifier from Audison's Forza range, rated at 90 W x 4 into 4 Ω, 150 W x 4 into 2 Ω and 300 W x 2 bridged into 4 Ω (RMS, 14.4 V, 1% THD). It weighs 1.49 kg, measures 200 x 47 x 134 mm and has what Audison calls a straight-wire architecture, with no adjustable crossover. The India MRP is ₹69,990. This review covers what straight wire means for a system, the ratings, the absence of owner reviews, and comparisons with the AF M4D, AF C4.10 bit and JL Audio JD400/4. Stock and price are on our Audison AF C4D product page.

Audison AF C4D compact 4-channel Class D car amplifier

Quick summary

  • Audison rates it at 90 W x 4 into 4 Ω and 150 W x 4 into 2 Ω, or 300 W x 2 bridged into 4 Ω (RMS, 14.4 V, 1% THD); the minimum load is 2 Ω.

  • It has no adjustable crossover, so filtering has to come from the source, such as an Audison AF bit amplifier or a bit processor.

  • It has speaker-level and RCA inputs, USS and ART, and Audison's box list includes a speaker-in cable.

  • We found no owner reviews; the OnlineCarStereo page for this model shows none.

Figures come from Audison's AF C4D page, a promotional document, and match our listing. The page gives efficiency as 84% in one place and 81% in another, so we leave it out.

What straight wire means for your system

Audison describes its AF D amplifiers as companions designed to add amplifier channels to AF bit amplifiers, with an input harness included to make that connection straightforward. It also describes them as suited to systems managed by a standalone bit processor, such as the bit One HD Virtuoso. The straight-wire architecture has no analogue preamp functions such as crossover filtering, and Audison says the amplifiers are intended for use with external processors.

The C4D therefore has no filtering of its own. Audison's AF Link accessory cable connects the DSP OUT outputs of an AF bit amplifier, such as the AF C4.10 bit, to the PRE IN inputs of an AF D amplifier. With a processor in front, the processor handles crossovers, equalisation and time alignment. Without one, nothing on the C4D keeps deep bass away from small speakers, so the source has to do it. Our guide to DSP in car audio explains the trade-offs, and VA3 Car Studio offers DSP tuning.

Reading the 90, 150 and 300 W ratings

Most door speakers are 4 Ω, so 90 W per channel is the figure to plan around; compare it with each speaker's continuous RMS handling. The 150 W figure applies when a channel sees 2 Ω, for example two 4 Ω speakers sharing a channel, and Audison's 600 W total is that figure added up.

Each pair of outputs can be bridged, and Audison rates the bridged output at 300 W into 4 Ω. A single 4 Ω subwoofer on a bridged pair therefore receives 300 W. If the subwoofer needs much more than that, a separate mono amplifier is the usual alternative, such as the Audison SR 1.500, rated to 1000 W into 1 Ω.

Inputs, remote and turn-on

The C4D has RCA pre-ins (0.6–6 V) and speaker-level inputs (2.2–22 V), with USS on the speaker-level side for factory sources that use speaker-load detection. ART can switch the amplifier on from the speaker signal, and Audison lists a remote input (4–15 V) and a 150 mA remote output. Its box list includes a remote cable, a 4-channel speaker-out cable, a 2-channel pre-in cable, a 4-channel speaker-in cable and the Forza install kit.

What owners and reviewers say about the Audison AF C4D

When we checked in October 2026, we found no owner reviews of the Audison AF C4D. OnlineCarStereo's AF C4D page shows no reviews and no star rating, and does not say whether reviews are moderated. Audison's own pages are promotional, so we have not counted them as opinions. Without owner feedback, the specification and your system plan carry the decision.

Audison AF C4D vs AF M4D, AF C4.10 bit, SR 4.300 and JL JD400/4

The Audison AF M4D is also a four-channel amplifier without an adjustable crossover. Its MRP is ₹99,990, which is ₹30,000 more. Audison rates it at 160 W x 4 into 4 Ω and 260 W x 4 into 2 Ω, with two 30 A fuses, in a 240 x 156 x 47 mm chassis that weighs 2.04 kg against the C4D's 1.49 kg.

The AF C4.10 bit has the same ratings as the C4D plus a 10-channel DSP, with 15-pole equalisation per output, time alignment from 0 to 510 cm and an optical input, in a 1.38 kg chassis. Its MRP is ₹99,990, also ₹30,000 more. If a separate processor is already in the plan, the C4D gives the same four-channel ratings without a second DSP.

Audison's SR 4.300 adds a crossover. Audison's page lists a 50 Hz to 3.2 kHz high-pass and low-pass at 12 dB/oct, ratings of 85 W x 4 into 4 Ω and 130 W x 4 into 2 Ω, and a weight of 1.56 kg. Our SR 4.300 post carries a correction note, so rely on Audison's published ratings. The JL Audio JD400/4 costs ₹39,990 and is rated 4 x 75 W into 4 Ω and 4 x 100 W into 2 Ω, so the Audison's channels are rated higher at both loads.

Who should buy it, and who shouldn't

Buy the AF C4D if a processor or an AF bit amplifier will handle crossovers and tuning, you need four channels in a footprint of about 200 x 134 mm, and you want speaker-level inputs with USS and ART for a factory head unit.

Look elsewhere if you want crossovers on the amplifier itself, which Audison's SR 4.300 has, or you want DSP in the same chassis, which the AF C4.10 bit offers at the same ratings.

Installation notes for Indian cars

Audison lists a single 30 A fuse, 25 A at maximum musical power (14.4 V, 2 Ω) and an operating supply of 6.5–17.5 V. We did not find clearance figures for the C4D on Audison's page, so check Audison's AF D manual for spacing and fusing before cutting cable. Audison does list the AFC-CLK, a bracket with a temperature-controlled cooling fan for its Forza Compact amplifiers, and recommends it in very tight spaces with limited air circulation. Treat that as a hint about heat: a compact amplifier behind a panel in an Indian summer needs air like any other. VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation.

Audison AF C4D - another view

The bottom line

The Audison AF C4D is a small four-channel amplifier that leaves filtering to the source. The ratings and the 200 x 47 x 134 mm size are clear; owner reviews are not available. Decide first how crossovers will be handled, then choose between the C4D, the SR 4.300 and the C4.10 bit.

Audison AF C4D FAQ

Does the Audison AF C4D have a built-in crossover?

No. Audison lists a straight-wire design without crossover filtering and intends its AF D amplifiers for use with external processors, so filtering has to come from the source.

Can the Audison AF C4D be bridged?

Yes. Each pair of outputs can be bridged, and Audison rates the bridged output at 300 W x 2 into 4 Ω (RMS, 14.4 V, 1% THD).

Does the Audison AF C4D work with a factory head unit?

It has speaker-level inputs (2.2–22 V RMS) with USS and ART turn-on. With no crossover on the amplifier, plan how bass will be kept out of small speakers before you buy.
