Audison APK 163 Review: 6.5-Inch Three-Way With a Crossover for Each Driver
The Audison APK 163 is a 6.5-inch (165 mm) three-way component system from Audison's Prima range. Each side gets an AP 6.5 woofer, a 100 mm AP 4 midbass and an AP 1 tweeter with a 26 mm diaphragm, and each driver comes with its own crossover. Audison rates the kit at 125 W continuous and 375 W peak into 4 ohm. The Indian MRP is ₹49,990, which is ₹22,000 above the two-way Audison APK 165P. It suits buyers who want a dedicated midrange driver in a 6.5-inch set. You can see the kit on our Audison APK 163 product page.

Key takeaways
Three drivers per side: a 165 mm woofer with a 32 mm pure copper voice coil, a 100 mm midbass and a 26 mm tweeter, each with a dedicated crossover module.
Audison rates the kit at 125 W continuous and 375 W peak at 4 ohm, stated for the kit and not per driver. Choose the amplifier by the continuous figure.
Audison's own pages disagree on sensitivity: 93.5 dB in the datasheet and 89.5 dB on its web page.
Audison publishes no mounting depth or cutout, and we found no owner reviews of this model, only one short review of the two-way APK 165.

Figures come from Audison's APK 163 page, its datasheet and our listing. The datasheet gives 93.5 dB with no driver or test conditions named, while the web page shows 89.5 dB, so we cannot say which applies. Elettromedia's store page tags the 125 W continuous figure as AES; we did not see that tag on Audison's own page or datasheet.
Three drivers, three crossovers
The crossover layout is the part to understand before you buy. The kit has an APCX WF module for the woofer, an APCX MD for the midbass and an APCX TW for the tweeter. Our listing says a dedicated crossover per speaker simplifies replacing OEM speakers, with no extra cables to route through the door. That is the listing's description, and we have not tried it in a car.
The datasheet lists three filters, all at 6 dB per octave: a 600 Hz low-pass, a band from 600 Hz to 3.5 kHz and a 3.5 kHz high-pass. The text we read does not say which module takes which filter. Our listing assigns the 600 Hz low-pass to the woofer, the band to the midbass and the 3.5 kHz high-pass to the tweeter, and Elettromedia's store agrees on the woofer and tweeter. The APCX TW is the module Audison lists with a level switch, at 0 and +2 dB. Slopes of 6 dB per octave are gentle, so neighbouring drivers overlap widely around 600 Hz and 3.5 kHz.
The AP 6.5, AP 4 and AP 1 drivers
The woofer lists Xmax of ±2.5 mm, a resonance of 80 Hz and a Qts of 0.7. The midbass is a 100 mm driver with a 25 mm coil, and the AP 1 tweeter has a wide-roll surround and an acoustic lens. Audison lists water-repellent treated paper cones, TPU surrounds with the Triple Wave profile, compact baskets and a reduced mounting depth, but gives no depth number. With ±2.5 mm of stroke and an 80 Hz resonance the woofer is not a bass driver, so plan on a subwoofer.
Powering the Audison APK 163
Audison states 125 W continuous and 375 W peak for the kit and does not say how that is shared between the three drivers. Size the amplifier by the continuous figure. A channel that delivers something near 125 W continuous at 4 ohm for each side matches the rating, and a smaller amplifier will still sound cleaner than a head unit's built-in output. The 375 W peak figure describes short bursts, so do not size an amplifier by it. Audison names no recommended amplifier.
Audison's two sensitivity figures differ by 4 dB, so set the levels with a test tone instead of calculating them from a datasheet. A high-pass around 80 to 100 Hz is a common starting point above the woofer's 80 Hz resonance, with a subwoofer taking what is below.
What owners and reviewers say about the Audison APK 163
We found no owner reviews of the APK 163 itself, and we are not going to invent a consensus. This is what we checked in October 2026.
The OnlineCarStereo page shows zero reviews, the ABT page has a reviews heading with nothing under it, and the Sound of Tristate page shows none either. Audison's pages are promotional, so we use them for specifications and feature descriptions only.
The nearest evidence is about a different product. The OnlineCarStereo page for the two-way APK 165 carries one short review, dated 5/1/2024 as the page shows it, with no star rating. It is very positive about the sound of the woofers and tweeters, says the crossovers make the audio more defined and distinct, and finds the system powerful but clear. The reviewer adds that Audison is known for high prices and says they do not regret buying the set. That review covers the APK 165, not the APK 163, and it cannot speak for the midbass driver, although Audison's pages name the same AP 6.5 woofer and AP 1 tweeter in both kits. We cover that set in our separate Audison APK 165 review. We found no report from an Indian owner. If you have fitted an APK 163, tell us how the midbass blends with the woofer and tweeter.
Audison APK 163 vs APK 165P, Hertz MPK 163.3 and MPK 165.3
The two-way Audison APK 165P is ₹27,990 MRP, which is ₹22,000 less, and is rated 115 W continuous and 345 W peak against the APK 163's 125 W and 375 W. Its tweeter is larger, at 29 mm against 26 mm, and it crosses over at 4 kHz. What the APK 163 adds is the midbass driver and a second crossover point.
Hertz is Audison's sister brand, and its 6.5-inch Mille Pro component sets include a three-way and a two-way that we have covered. The three-way Hertz MPK 163.3 is ₹69,990 MRP, which is ₹20,000 above the APK 163, and is rated 150 W continuous and 300 W peak. The Audison has the higher peak rating and the Hertz the higher continuous one, so neither rates higher outright. The Hertz uses a 70 mm midrange and crosses at 450 Hz and 5.5 kHz with a 12 dB per octave tweeter slope, against Audison's 100 mm midbass and 6 dB slopes at 600 Hz and 3.5 kHz. The two-way Hertz MPK 165.3 lists at the same ₹49,990 MRP as the APK 163 and is rated 110 W continuous and 220 W peak.
Who should buy the Audison APK 163, and who shouldn't
Buy it if you want a separate midrange driver, you have a place for a 100 mm midbass and a tweeter as well as the woofer, and you can power the kit with an amplifier that delivers something near 125 W continuous.
Look elsewhere if you only want one woofer and one tweeter, since the APK 165P lists for ₹22,000 less, or if you need a published sensitivity, mounting depth, cutout or a record of owner reports before you commit.
Installation notes for Indian cars
A three-way kit needs three mounting positions per side: the woofer in the door opening, and places of your choosing for the midbass and the tweeter. Audison gives no mounting depth or cutout for any driver. ABT lists a 2.2 in top-mount depth and a 5.5 in cutout without saying which driver it means, so treat those as unconfirmed and measure the opening and the space behind it yourself.
VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation. We also build speaker pods and door baffles for midbass and tweeter positions as well as for woofer openings, and we do DSP tuning for cars that have a DSP or a DSP amplifier. Keep the three crossover modules dry, away from the hottest panels and labelled, so that each reaches the right driver. Damp the door first; our guide to applying sound damping in a car shows how.
