Deaf Bonce 3012R Review: A 2,800 W 12-Inch Apocalypse for Serious SPL Builds

Updated: Oct 6

The Deaf Bonce 3012R is a 12-inch Apocalypse subwoofer rated at 2,800 W RMS (5,600 W max), with a 3-inch dual 2-ohm voice coil, 19 mm of Xmax and a force factor (BL) of 26.0 T·m. At an India MRP of ₹1,19,990 it costs about twice as much as the 2,000 W SA302 and sits just below its 15-inch counterpart, the 3015R. This is a driver for committed high-output builds, often where class rules or boot space call for a 12-inch, and the car's electrical system has to be upgraded to match. Full details and the current price are on our Deaf Bonce 3012R product page.

Deaf Bonce 3012R D2 12-inch Apocalypse subwoofer

Key points

  • 2,800 W RMS through a 12-inch paper cone, with a 3-inch coil, 19 mm of Xmax and 38 mm of mechanical excursion.

  • Its BL of 26.0 T·m is the highest of the 12-inch Apocalypse subs we sell.

  • It's a big driver for a 12: 224.0 mm deep, a 284.0 mm cut-out and 27.90 kg packed.

  • At full output it needs close to 200 A, so the charging system matters as much as the amplifier.

The figures match the D2 column on Deaf Bonce's official 3012R D1/D2 page, checked in October 2026; that page doesn't state the voice coil wire. Deaf Bonce also lists a D1 version, which our listing doesn't offer.

What the extra money buys over the SA302

Next to the SA302, the 3012R adds 800 W of rating and 1 mm of Xmax on a coil of the same 3-inch diameter. The bigger change is in the motor figures: BL rises from 20.84 to 26.0 T·m (D2 against D2), and the packed weight climbs from 16.40 kg to 27.90 kg. BL describes how much force the motor produces per amp of current, so a higher figure means a stronger grip on the cone.

The cost of that motor is size. The 3012R is 44.5 mm deeper than the SA302 and needs a 284.0 mm hole rather than 279.3 mm, so it won't drop into an SA-series 12-inch baffle without changes.

Enclosure: model it, then build it heavy

Deaf Bonce's product page gives no recommended box. The inputs are an Fs of 33.8 Hz, a Qts of 0.43 and a Vas of 30.2 litres. A Qts of 0.43 sits close to the line rule-of-thumb guides draw between drivers better suited to ported boxes and those better suited to sealed ones, so model both before you decide.

Whatever the alignment, the box has to carry a heavy driver and contain 19 mm of excursion at very high power. That means thick board, a doubled baffle where possible, internal bracing and at least 224.0 mm of clear depth behind the baffle. Count the driver's displacement and any port in the internal volume.

Dual 2-ohm wiring and Atom pairing

A single 3012R D2 presents 1 ohm with its coils in parallel or 4 ohms in series. With Atom amplifiers, 1 ohm is the practical load for one sub. Deaf Bonce rates the Atom 2.5K PRO at 2,500 W into 1 ohm, a little under the sub's rating, and the Atom 3.5K PRO at 3,500 W into 1 ohm, which gives headroom but calls for careful gain setting.

Two 3012Rs can be wired to 2 ohms, each in series with the pair in parallel, or each in parallel with the pair in series. At that load the Atom 9.5K PRO is rated at 5,650 W, almost exactly the pair's combined 5,600 W. All Atom ratings quoted here are at 14.4 V.

Close to 200 A: the electrical reality

At 14.4 V, 2,800 W of output works out to roughly 194 A before amplifier losses. That's more than many factory charging systems are designed to supply, so builds at this level usually involve the Big 3 cable upgrade, a high-output alternator and additional battery capacity, all fused properly at the source. The Atom 3.5K PRO's power terminal is sized for 0 AWG cable; our Tchernov 0 AWG cable review explains what a main feed of that size involves.

Voltage drop costs real output. Deaf Bonce rates the Atom 3.5K PRO at 3,500 W into 1 ohm at 14.4 V but 2,900 W at 12 V, so a system that sags with the engine idling and the AC on will never see the headline figure.

What owners and reviewers say about the Deaf Bonce 3012R

When we checked in October 2026, we found no owner reviews or independent tests of the 3012R that we could read. Deaf Bonce's page lists specifications only, and the retailer and forum sites we tried either blocked automated access or showed nothing relevant. We're not going to guess at a verdict; everything in this review comes from published figures.

If you compete with or daily-drive a 3012R, we'd like to hear about your box, amplifier and electrical setup. Verified owner feedback will be added here.

3012R, SA302 or 3015R?

The SA302 is the sensible choice if your budget, box or electrics top out around 2,000 W. The 3015R (₹1,29,990) carries the same 2,800 W rating, 3-inch coil and 19 mm Xmax on a 15-inch cone, but it needs a much bigger box, with a Vas of 69.7 litres and 258.5 mm of depth. Pick the 3012R when a 12-inch is a requirement, for class rules or space, and you still want that power rating.

Who should buy it, and who shouldn't

Buy the 3012R if you're building a serious SPL or high-output system around a 12-inch, you have an amplifier and charging system planned for about 2,800 W, and you're comfortable designing a heavy, braced box.

Don't buy it if the car will keep its stock electrics, if you want bass for everyday listening, or if a 2,000 W SA302 already exceeds what your amplifier can deliver.

Installation notes for Indian cars

Treat the installation as structural work. The driver ships at 27.90 kg packed, and a finished box will weigh much more, so it has to be bolted to the body, not strapped to carpet. Plan the power cable route, fuse positions and earth points before anything else, keep the amplifier ventilated in a hot boot, and expect to treat the boot lid, number plate and rear panels for rattles; our sound damping guide is a good starting point. Output at this level can damage hearing, so keep listening levels sensible. VA3 Car Studio offers professional installation in Ghaziabad and can build a custom box once your volume is modelled.

Price and where to buy

The Deaf Bonce 3012R D2 has an MRP of ₹1,19,990. We often sell below MRP, and today's offer is on our 3012R D2 store listing.

Deaf Bonce 3012R - another view

The verdict

The 3012R puts 2,800 W of rated power handling and the highest BL figure of our 12-inch Apocalypse range into a single 12-inch driver. Everything else scales with it: a deeper, heavier driver, a box that must be designed and built with care, and close to 200 A at full output. Without owner feedback to lean on, judge it on those published numbers, and only buy it as part of a fully planned system.

Deaf Bonce 3012R FAQ

Which amplifier suits one Deaf Bonce 3012R?

Wire the coils in parallel for 1 ohm. Deaf Bonce rates the Atom 2.5K PRO at 2,500 W into 1 ohm, slightly under the sub's 2,800 W, and the Atom 3.5K PRO at 3,500 W into 1 ohm, which gives headroom if the gain is set carefully.

Will the 3012R fit a box built for the SA302?

Not without changes. It needs a 284.0 mm cut-out instead of 279.3 mm and 224.0 mm of depth instead of 179.5 mm, and its Thiele/Small figures differ, so the box should be re-modelled too.

Is there a D1 version of the 3012R?

Deaf Bonce's official page lists both D1 and D2 versions. Our store listing is the D2 with dual 2-ohm coils, so ask us before ordering if your wiring plan needs the D1.
