Deaf Bonce 4518R Review: An 18-Inch Apocalypse Sub and the Space It Takes
Updated: Oct 6
The Deaf Bonce 4518R is the flagship of the Apocalypse subwoofers we sell: an 18-inch (457 mm) driver rated at 4,500 W RMS (9,000 W max), with a 4.5-inch dual 2-ohm voice coil, a carbon cone and a listed SPL of 89.0 dB. Its India MRP is ₹2,99,990, the highest in the range and ₹10,990 above the 15-inch 4515R. It's realistically for SPL builds in vans, pickups and large SUVs where the load area can be given over to a very large enclosure and the electrical system rebuilt to feed it. The listing is on our Deaf Bonce 4518R product page.

The essentials
The highest listed SPL (89.0 dB) and lowest Fs (29.4 Hz) of the Apocalypse subs we sell, with a BL (28.0 T·m) almost level with the 4515R's.
A 462.3 mm cut-out, 327.0 mm of depth and a Vas of 153 litres: space is the first question.
Deaf Bonce publishes no Xmax or mechanical excursion figure for it, unlike the 4515R.
Like the 4515R, it asks for more than 300 A at full output.

Why an 18-inch, and what the figures say
An 18-inch cone has far more surface area than a 15-inch, so it moves more air for every millimetre of travel. The 4518R's published figures line up with that: its listed SPL is 1.2 dB higher than the 4515R's, and its Fs is 3 Hz lower. Both drivers share the 4,500 W rating, the 4.5-inch coil and the carbon cone, and their BL figures are almost the same (28.0 against 27.9 T·m).
A Qts of 0.34 is the sort of figure rule-of-thumb guides link with ported boxes, and the low Fs points towards deep extension. Treat these as pointers for modelling rather than promises; there are no independent measurements we could find.
Space first: cut-out, depth and a 153-litre Vas
The 462.3 mm cut-out is almost half a metre across, the driver needs more than 327.0 mm behind the baffle, and the Vas of 153 litres is more than twice the 4515R's 68.4 litres. Deaf Bonce's product page gives no recommended enclosure, so the box has to be designed from scratch, and with figures like these it will take up much of a load area. Many builds at this scale use a wall-style enclosure across the vehicle rather than a free-standing box.
The structure must also carry a driver that ships at 64.90 kg, so multi-layer panels, heavy bracing and a reinforced baffle are a necessity, and the whole assembly has to be fixed to the vehicle's body.
The missing Xmax figure
Deaf Bonce publishes Xmax for the 4515R (22.5 mm) but not for the 4518R, and our listing doesn't give it either. Without it, you can't model how close the cone gets to its excursion limit at full power, which matters when choosing the box tuning and the subsonic filter setting. If your design depends on it, ask us or Deaf Bonce for the figure before you order.
Powering it: amplifier and electrics
The D2 gives 1 ohm with its coils in parallel or 4 ohms in series. For one sub on Atom power, 1 ohm is the load to use: Deaf Bonce rates the Atom 5.5K PRO at 5,500 W into 1 ohm at 14.4 V but only 1,710 W into 4 ohms. The headroom at 1 ohm means the gain must be set carefully. Note too that Deaf Bonce lists the 5.5K PRO's operating range as 9 to 15 V, so check your vehicle's charging voltage against that range.
The current is the same story as the 4515R: 4,500 W at 14.4 V is about 312 A before amplifier losses. That calls for alternator capacity, a battery bank, the Big 3 upgrade and heavy, fused cabling, with the 5.5K PRO's 0 AWG power terminal showing the scale of cable involved. Our Tchernov 0 AWG cable review covers what that involves.
What owners and reviewers say about the Deaf Bonce 4518R
We found no owner reviews, competition reports or independent tests of the 4518R that we could read when we checked in October 2026. Deaf Bonce's page lists specifications only, and the large retailer and forum sites we tried were closed to automated access or had nothing on this model. We won't fill that silence with invented praise.
If you've built a vehicle around a 4518R, we'd like to hear about the enclosure, amplifiers and electrical system. Verified owner feedback will be added here.
4518R or 4515R?
For ₹10,990 more than the 4515R, the 4518R gives you an 18-inch cone, a higher listed SPL and a lower Fs. In exchange it needs more than twice the Vas, a much larger cut-out (462.3 mm against 355.0 mm), 23.5 mm more depth and a heavier driver, and it lacks a published Xmax. If the vehicle can't spare that space, the 15-inch is the realistic choice; the 2,800 W 3015R is a further step down in power, depth and cost.
Who should buy it, and who shouldn't
Buy the 4518R if you're building a dedicated SPL or demo vehicle with a large load area, you've budgeted for a very large amplifier, a battery bank and charging upgrades, and a qualified installer will design the enclosure and electrics.
Don't buy it if the vehicle has to carry people and luggage normally, if the electrics will stay stock, or if you simply want strong bass; a lower-powered Apocalypse model such as the SA255 or 3015R is far easier to live with.
Installation notes for Indian vehicles
Measure the tailgate or rear door opening before anything is built, because an enclosure for this driver may need to be assembled inside the vehicle. Anchor it to structural points so it cannot move under braking or on broken roads, route cables away from fuel lines and sharp edges, and fuse every positive feed close to its battery.
At these levels, glass, trim and panels will rattle and hearing is at risk, so plan damping, as our sound damping guide describes, and keep listening levels sensible. VA3 Car Studio offers professional installation in Ghaziabad and can build a custom box to the volume you settle on; we can also look at your vehicle before you commit.
Price and where to buy
The Deaf Bonce 4518R D2 carries an MRP of ₹2,99,990. We often sell below MRP; check the current offer on our 4518R D2 store listing.

Final verdict
On paper the 4518R tops the Apocalypse subs we sell for listed SPL and low Fs, and matches the 4515R's 4,500 W rating with almost the same BL. It also asks the most of the vehicle: a near half-metre cut-out, a box built around 153 litres of Vas, more than 300 A of supply, and a missing Xmax figure to resolve before you design. For a dedicated SPL vehicle it's the top of the range; for anything else, a smaller model makes more sense.
Deaf Bonce 4518R FAQ
What vehicles can take a Deaf Bonce 4518R?
We can't promise fitment for any model without measuring. The driver needs a 462.3 mm cut-out, more than 327.0 mm of depth and a box designed around a Vas of 153 litres, which usually means a van, pickup or large SUV with its load area given over to the enclosure.
Why doesn't the 4518R list an Xmax figure?
Deaf Bonce's product page and our listing don't give Xmax or mechanical excursion for this model, although the 4515R lists 22.5 mm. Ask us or Deaf Bonce for the figure before you design a box that depends on it.
Which Atom amplifier suits the 4518R?
Wire its coils in parallel for 1 ohm. Deaf Bonce rates the Atom 5.5K PRO at 5,500 W into 1 ohm at 14.4 V, which gives headroom over the sub's 4,500 W rating, so set the gain carefully.
