Deaf Bonce MFA-4.180 Review: 180 W x 4 for SPL Mids Plus a Bridged Subwoofer
Updated: Oct 6
The Deaf Bonce MFA-4.180 is the middle model of the Machete MFA four-channel range, a Class D amplifier rated at 180 W RMS x 4 into 4 ohm and 270 W x 4 into 2 ohm at 14.4 V, or 540 W x 2 bridged into 4 ohm. Its Indian MRP is ₹44,990. It is the first MFA four-channel with enough power for 180 W-class SPL mids, and the right size to run a pair of them plus a bridged subwoofer from one chassis. Check today's price on our MFA-4.180 product page.

In brief
180 W per channel into 4 ohm matches the 180 W rating of Deaf Bonce's AP-M61AC mids exactly.
Two channels on mids and two bridged into a 4-ohm sub at 540 W make a complete loud system.
Deaf Bonce's own product page showed placeholder data when we checked, so the figures here come from Alphard Group's Russian store and our listing, which agree.
We found no owner reviews or independent tests in October 2026.

These figures come from the MFA-4.180 page on Alphard Group's Russian store, Deaf Bonce's maker, and match our store listing. Deaf Bonce's international page confirms the Class D, four-channel, 20 Hz – 20 kHz and 12 dB/oct entries, but showed 0 V, 0 ohm and 0.00-inch dimensions when we checked in October 2026.
Where 180 W per channel fits
This is the point in the MFA range where the amplifier stops being a speaker upgrade and starts driving SPL-style midrange. The Apocalypse AP-M61AC, a 6.5-inch 4-ohm mid with a cast aluminium frame, is rated at exactly 180 W RMS, and the 150 W AP-M60SQL also sits comfortably on a channel.
At 2 ohm, each channel's 270 W splits between two 4-ohm mids at roughly 135 W each, close to the 130 W rating of the Hannibal HM-60 PRO. That supports an eight-mid layout for loud builds from one compact amplifier.
One amplifier for mids and a subwoofer
The layout that makes the MFA-4.180 most useful puts a pair of mids on channels 1 and 2 at 180 W each and bridges channels 3 and 4 into a subwoofer. The bridged pair makes 540 W into a 4-ohm minimum. A Machete MF-12S in its dual 2-ohm form, rated at 800 W, presents 4 ohm with its coils in series and runs well within its rating; the 10-inch MF-10S D2 suits smaller boots in the same way.
If the filters can be set for each pair, use the bridged pair's low-pass for the sub and the front pair's high-pass for the mids. Deaf Bonce's specifications list no subsonic filter or bass boost, and the MFA-4 manuals we tried are scanned PDFs we could not read, so confirm any extra controls with us before you buy.
Power and heat in an Indian summer
Into 2 ohm on all four channels the amplifier totals 1,080 W; in the mids-plus-sub layout above, 900 W. The 4 AWG power terminal is adequate for that with a short, full-copper run, a fuse close to the battery and a solid chassis ground. Deaf Bonce publishes no 12 V figure, so expect less output when the AC drags the voltage down at idle.
Class D keeps losses down, but the chassis still needs air. Mount it on a board with space around the heatsink rather than under a seat stuffed with carpet, and keep it out of direct sun through a rear glass.
What owners and reviewers say about the Deaf Bonce MFA-4.180
When we checked in October 2026, we found no owner reviews or independent tests. Alphard Group's Russian store page lists the full specification but carries no customer reviews, and Deaf Bonce's international page carries none either.
A search of the Steve Meade Designs forum turned up Deaf Bonce subwoofer and speaker threads, while a search for Machete MFA found nothing. Some large review sites were unreachable for us, so we can't rule out feedback elsewhere. If you have run an MFA-4.180, especially in Indian heat, we'd like to hear from you.
MFA-4.180 vs MFA-4.120, MFA-4.220 and MLA-160.4
The MFA range moves in ₹5,000 steps here. The MFA-4.120 (₹39,990) gives 120 W x 4 and 360 W bridged, enough for 130 W mids but short for the AP-M61AC. The MFA-4.220 (₹49,990) adds 40 W per channel at 4 ohm and bridges to 660 W, the better match for 200 W-class mids.
The Machete MLA-160.4 (₹32,990) is cheaper but a little less powerful at 160 W x 4, 225 W at 2 ohm and 450 W bridged, and its filters only cover 40–400 Hz and its manual quotes 85 dB signal-to-noise against the MFA's 90 dB.
Who should buy it, and who shouldn't
Buy the MFA-4.180 if you want 180 W-class mids on their own channels, or a pair of mids plus a 12-inch sub from one amplifier, with a filter range that reaches 12 kHz.
Look elsewhere if your mids are rated near 100 W, where the MFA-4.120 is enough, or you plan 300 W mids, which need the MFA-4.320.
Installation notes for Indian cars
Speaker-level inputs are not listed, so with a factory touchscreen head unit use a converter such as the Machete M6C or the M8-DSP's high-level inputs. SPL mids are hungry for a solid baffle, so plan door or kick-panel work alongside the amplifier. Check every speaker load with a multimeter before connecting. VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation and can make door baffles or pods for the mids.
Price and where to buy
The Deaf Bonce MFA-4.180 has an MRP of ₹44,990. VA3 Car Studio often sells below MRP, so check the current price on our Machete MFA-4.180 product page. Every amplifier we sell is a genuine Deaf Bonce product.
The bottom line
The MFA-4.180 is a flexible middle choice in the MFA four-channel line-up: right for 180 W mids, comfortable at 2 ohm, and able to bridge into a decent 12-inch sub. The patchy data on Deaf Bonce's own page is a nuisance rather than a problem, since the maker's Russian store and our listing agree. With no owner reviews yet, buy it on those figures.
Deaf Bonce MFA-4.180 FAQ
Can the Deaf Bonce MFA-4.180 run mids and a subwoofer together?
Yes. Run a pair of 4-ohm mids on channels 1 and 2 at 180 W each, and bridge channels 3 and 4 into a 4-ohm subwoofer for 540 W, such as an MF-12S D2 with its coils in series.
Why does Deaf Bonce's own page show no power figures for the MFA-4.180?
When we checked in October 2026 the page showed placeholder values. Alphard Group's Russian store lists the full specification, which matches our listing: 180 W x 4 at 4 ohm, 270 W x 4 at 2 ohm and 540 W x 2 bridged.
What is the minimum impedance for the MFA-4.180?
Two ohms per channel, or 4 ohm when two channels are bridged. Wiring below those loads risks tripping protection or damaging the amplifier.
