Deaf Bonce MFA-4.220 Review: 220 W x 4 for Neodymium and 8-Inch Midrange Builds

Updated: Oct 6

The Deaf Bonce MFA-4.220 is the second-largest Machete MFA four-channel, a Class D amplifier rated at 220 W RMS x 4 into 4 ohm and 330 W x 4 into 2 ohm at 14.4 V, with 660 W x 2 available bridged into 4 ohm. Its Indian MRP is ₹49,990. It is a natural partner for 200 W-class neodymium mids on single channels, or for banks of 8-inch mids wired to 2 ohm, and it can still bridge into a 15-inch sub. See the current offer on our MFA-4.220 product page.

Deaf Bonce MFA-4.220 Machete four-channel Class D car amplifier

The short version

  • 220 W into 4 ohm suits Deaf Bonce's 200 W AP-M65AN neodymium mids, one per channel.

  • At 2 ohm, two 8-inch AP-M81SE mids per channel get about 165 W each, close to their 170 W rating.

  • Its 50 Hz – 12 kHz filters can run together, so they can apply both of the filter settings Deaf Bonce recommends for the AP-M81SE.

  • No owner reviews or independent tests surfaced when we checked in October 2026.

Neodymium mids on 4-ohm channels

The Apocalypse AP-M65AN is a 6.5-inch 4-ohm midrange with a neodymium magnet, rated at 200 W RMS. One per channel puts 220 W on tap, a touch above its rating, so set the gains with a test tone and leave a little in reserve. Its mounting depth is 67.5 mm, so check your door clearance before ordering.

A 180 W mid such as the AP-M61AC also works on a single channel with careful gain setting, though its exact match is the MFA-4.180.

8-inch mid banks at 2 ohm

Wiring two 4-ohm speakers per channel brings the load to 2 ohm and the output to 330 W, about 165 W per speaker. That is a close match for the 8-inch Apocalypse AP-M81SE, rated at 170 W, giving eight 8-inch mids from one 267 mm chassis.

The AP-M81SE's manual recommends a 250–350 Hz high-pass at 12 dB/oct and an 8–12 kHz low-pass. Because the MFA-4.220's 12 dB/oct filters cover 50 Hz to 12 kHz and can work at the same time, the amplifier can apply both. With all four channels driving the same mids, that is a tidy setup without a separate processor.

Bridging into a subwoofer, and the electrics

Bridged, each channel pair gives 660 W into a 4-ohm minimum. A 15-inch Machete MF-15S or 12-inch MF-12S in dual 2-ohm form presents 4 ohm with its coils in series, and both are rated at 800 W, so 660 W stays inside their limits.

Into 2 ohm on all four channels the amplifier can deliver 1,320 W, all through a 4 AWG terminal, so keep the power run short and use full copper. Fuse it close to the battery, sized to the cable, and ground to bare metal. Deaf Bonce gives no 12 V rating; plan on the Big 3 if you'll use it hard at idle with the AC running.

What owners and reviewers say about the Deaf Bonce MFA-4.220

As of October 2026, we found no owner reviews or independent tests. The MFA-4.220 page on Alphard Group's Russian store shows the same specifications and a product video but no customer reviews, and the alphardaudio.us page of the US dealer listed by Deaf Bonce has none.

The Steve Meade Designs forum has Deaf Bonce subwoofer and speaker threads but nothing about the Machete MFA amplifiers. Several review platforms were unreachable for us, so we make no claim either way about reliability. Owners, please share your experience.

MFA-4.220 vs AAB-500.4D and MFA-4.320

The Apocalypse AAB-500.4D costs ₹10,000 more at MRP. Into 4 ohm and 2 ohm the MFA-4.220 slightly out-powers it (220 W against 200 W, 330 W against 320 W), and its filters reach 12 kHz where the AAB's stop at 6 kHz. The AAB earns its price if you need its 1-ohm rating for big mid walls, its 1,000 W bridged output into 2 ohm, or its higher 105 dB signal-to-noise rating.

The MFA-4.320 (₹59,990) adds 100 W per channel at 4 ohm, which is what 300 W mids need, and bridges to 960 W.

Who should buy it, and who shouldn't

Buy the MFA-4.220 if you run 200 W-class 4-ohm mids one per channel, or 8-inch mids two per channel at 2 ohm, and want the amplifier's own filters to handle both ends of their range.

Look elsewhere if you need 1-ohm stability, where the AAB-500.4D is the only Deaf Bonce four-channel we sell that offers it, or 300 W per channel.

Installation notes for Indian cars

Factory touchscreen head units need a line-output converter such as the Machete M6C, since speaker-level inputs are not listed. Eight-inch mids often need kick panels or custom door baffles, so budget for fabrication. Give the amplifier airflow and keep it away from the hottest parts of the boot. VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation and can make door baffles or pods for the mids.

Price and where to buy

The Deaf Bonce MFA-4.220 has an MRP of ₹49,990. VA3 Car Studio often sells below MRP, so check the current price on our Machete MFA-4.220 product page. Every amplifier we sell is a genuine Deaf Bonce product.

The bottom line

The MFA-4.220 suits 200 W-class mids and 2-ohm banks of 8-inch drivers, with filters flexible enough to follow Deaf Bonce's own filter settings for the AP-M81SE. Against the pricier AAB-500.4D it matches or beats the power at 4 and 2 ohm. With no owner reviews yet, choose it on those published figures.

Deaf Bonce MFA-4.220 FAQ

Which midrange speakers suit the Deaf Bonce MFA-4.220?

One 200 W AP-M65AN per channel at 4 ohm, or two 170 W AP-M81SE 8-inch mids per channel at 2 ohm, where each gets about 165 W. Both are 4-ohm Deaf Bonce speakers.

Should I choose the MFA-4.220 or the AAB-500.4D?

For 4-ohm or 2-ohm loads the MFA-4.220 makes slightly more power at a ₹10,000 lower MRP. The AAB-500.4D is the choice for 1-ohm loads, and it lists a higher signal-to-noise rating.

What subwoofer can the MFA-4.220 drive when bridged?

Bridged, it makes 660 W into a 4-ohm minimum, which suits an 800 W sub such as the Machete MF-15S or MF-12S in dual 2-ohm form with the coils wired in series.
