Deaf Bonce MLA-800 Review: An Entry Mono Amp for Budget Bass Builds
Updated: Oct 6
The Deaf Bonce MLA-800 is a mono Class D subwoofer amplifier from the Machete MLA range, rated at 790 W RMS into 1 Ω, 540 W into 2 Ω and 340 W into 4 Ω at 14.4 V. With an MRP of ₹22,990 it is the least expensive Deaf Bonce monoblock we sell, and the natural partner for a first subwoofer or a pair of budget 12-inch drivers. Its manual lists a remote control in the box and a REMOTE input for a bass remote, plus a phase control and an RCA output for a second amplifier. Current pricing is on our MLA-800 product page.

Quick summary
790 W at 1 Ω, 540 W at 2 Ω or 340 W at 4 Ω, so the wiring of your subwoofer decides how much power you get.
Low-pass filter from 32 to 300 Hz, subsonic filter from 10 to 50 Hz, and a bass boost centred on 45 Hz.
The manual lists a remote control in the box and a bass remote input, plus a phase control and a low-level RCA output.
At 325 x 216 x 50 mm it is a boot-mounted amplifier, and it needs proper wiring for its power.

Matching budget subwoofers to the MLA-800
A monoblock's rating only means something once you know the load, so here is how the MLA-800 lines up with Deaf Bonce subwoofers we sell. These pairings are our own arithmetic from published ratings, not Deaf Bonce recommendations.
One MF-10S in its dual 2 Ω version, coils in parallel, presents 1 Ω and is rated at 800 W RMS: the 790 W output is almost a perfect fit.
One MF-08S in its dual 4 Ω version, coils in parallel, presents 2 Ω and receives up to 540 W against its 600 W RMS rating, a safe margin.
Two ML-12S 12-inch drivers, each wired in series to 4 Ω and then paralleled, present 2 Ω. That is 540 W shared, about 270 W each against their 300 W RMS ratings.
Avoid putting a 500 W subwoofer such as the ML-12R on the 1 Ω output; 790 W is well beyond its rating. Wired to 2 Ω in its dual 4 Ω version, it would see 540 W, so set the gain with care.
Controls that matter in a real car
The subsonic filter is easy to overlook. Set it just below a ported box's tuning and it stops the cone flapping uselessly at frequencies the box can't support, which protects the subwoofer when the bass boost is in use. The low-pass filter's 32 to 300 Hz range covers any normal crossover point.
The phase control, 0 to 180 degrees according to the manual, helps when a boot-mounted subwoofer seems to lag behind the front speakers; listen from the driver's seat and adjust it until the bass sounds fullest. The remote control the manual lists in the box goes with the REMOTE input, which the manual describes as the connection for a bass remote, so bass level should sit at your fingertips. The RCA output passes the signal on to a second amplifier, which makes future expansion simpler.
What owners and reviewers say about the Deaf Bonce MLA-800
When we checked in October 2026, there were no owner reviews, forum reports or independent tests of the MLA-800 that we could find and verify. Deaf Bonce publishes specifications and a manual only. The listing at Alphard Audio, the US dealer store named on Deaf Bonce's website, shows no customer reviews, and the large marketplaces and car forums we tried were blocked or silent on this model.
That leaves us with facts rather than opinions: published figures that match across Deaf Bonce's site and our listing, and a manual that is clear about wiring and limits. If you have an MLA-800 in your car, tell us how it has performed; real owner feedback would help the next buyer more than anything we can add.
What 790 W asks of your electrics
A Class D monoblock is efficient, but 790 W of output still means a heavy current draw on bass notes, all of it through the power cable. The manual places the fuse holder within 40 cm of the battery's positive terminal, and the 4 AWG terminal accepts a substantial cable. Our advice is to use a genuine copper cable of that gauge and a short, clean ground to bare metal.
Ratings are quoted at 14.4 V, which assumes the engine is running and the battery healthy. At idle in traffic with the AC on, voltage dips and so does output; the amplifier operates down to 10 V. If your headlights dim on bass notes, look at the battery and the main charging cables before blaming the amplifier.
MLA-800 vs MLA-1000, AAP-800.1D and MFA-1.800
For ₹3,000 more, the MLA-1000 (₹25,990 MRP) raises output to 990 W at 1 Ω and 680 W at 2 Ω with the same controls. The Apocalypse AAP-800.1D (₹23,990 MRP) matches the 790 W rating at 1 Ω in a far smaller 160 x 135 x 64 mm case, though it makes less at 2 Ω (480 W) and 4 Ω (270 W).
The Machete MFA-1.800 (₹28,990 MRP) quotes 800 W at 1 Ω and 570 W at 2 Ω, with a steeper 24 dB/oct low-pass filter in a 192 x 152 x 55 mm chassis, for ₹6,000 more.
Who should buy it, and who shouldn't
Buy the MLA-800 if you want a budget subwoofer amplifier for one MF-10S, an MF-08S or a pair of 300 W subs, and you have room in the boot. The remote listed in the box and the RCA output are useful extras at this price.
Look elsewhere if you need to hide the amplifier, in which case the compact AAP-800.1D or the MLA-500.1XS fit better, or if you plan to upgrade to 1,000 W-class subwoofers soon. Buying the MLA-1000 or MLA-1500 now would save a second purchase.
Installation notes for Indian cars
The MLA-800's footprint suits a boot floor or the back of the rear seat. The manual asks for an installation spot that stays between 0 °C and 55 °C and warns the amplifier can reach 80 °C while working, so leave air around it rather than boxing it in under the boot carpet, especially for summer use.
Keep the power cable and RCA leads on opposite sides of the car, set the gain with a test tone rather than by ear, and check terminal tightness after the first few weeks of Indian roads. VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation and can build a custom subwoofer box.
Price and where to buy

The bottom line
The MLA-800 is a no-frills way into proper subwoofer power: 790 W at 1 Ω, sensible filters, a phase control and a remote listed in the box, at the lowest MRP of any Deaf Bonce monoblock we sell. It is big for its output, and like any amplifier of this power it needs good wiring. Match the subwoofer's impedance to the power you want, and it does exactly what a budget bass build needs.
Deaf Bonce MLA-800 FAQ
Which subwoofer suits the Deaf Bonce MLA-800?
On our own arithmetic from published ratings, an 800 W RMS Machete MF-10S in its dual 2 Ω version, coils in parallel for 1 Ω, matches the 790 W rating almost exactly. A dual 4 Ω MF-08S at 2 Ω, or two ML-12S subwoofers wired to 2 Ω, are lower-power alternatives. These are our calculations, not Deaf Bonce recommendations.
Does the MLA-800 come with a bass remote?
According to Deaf Bonce's owner's manual, yes: its box-contents list includes a remote control, and the amplifier has a REMOTE input for the bass remote control. The manual is shared with the MLA-1000 and MLA-1500, and our listing does not mention the remote, so ask us to confirm what is in the box before you order.
Can the Deaf Bonce MLA-800 run at 1 ohm?
Yes. Its minimum load is 1 Ω, where it makes 790 W at 14.4 V. The manual warns against going lower, so check the final impedance of your subwoofer wiring with a multimeter before connecting it.
