Deaf Bonce SA2508 Review: Apocalypse Power in an 8-Inch Subwoofer

Updated: Oct 6

The Deaf Bonce SA2508 is the smallest subwoofer in Deaf Bonce's Apocalypse family that we sell: an 8-inch (203 mm) driver rated at 800 W RMS and 1,600 W peak, with a 2.5-inch voice coil, 14 mm of Xmax and a choice of dual 1 ohm (D1) or dual 2 ohm (D2) coils. Its India MRP is ₹37,990, the lowest of the Apocalypse subs we list, a range that tops out with the 18-inch 4518R at 4,500 W RMS. It suits buyers who want serious power handling from a small cone because nothing bigger will fit. Our store lists it as the DB-SA2508; pick the coil version and check today's price on our Deaf Bonce SA2508 product page.

Deaf Bonce SA2508 Apocalypse 8-inch subwoofer driver

Quick summary

  • 800 W RMS, a 2.5-inch coil and 14 mm of Xmax in an 8-inch driver: a lot of power handling for the size.

  • Two coil options. The D1 wires to 0.5 or 2 ohms and the D2 to 1 or 4 ohms, so buy the version that suits your amplifier.

  • Deaf Bonce's product page lists no box volume, so plan the enclosure from the Thiele/Small figures in our listing.

  • At ₹37,990 MRP it costs only ₹2,000 less than the 12-inch SA252, so choose it for space or class rules, not to save money.

These figures come from our store listing. Deaf Bonce's official SA2508 page names the D1 and D2 versions, but its spec table was empty when we checked in October 2026, so ask us to confirm the cut-out before you build a baffle around it.

Planning the box: what's published and what isn't

Deaf Bonce doesn't print a recommended enclosure volume on the product page, and we won't invent one. What you do get is enough for box-modelling software: an Fs of 35.0 Hz (D1) or 35.9 Hz (D2), a Qts of 0.55 or 0.56, a Vas of 19.0 or 19.7 litres and 14 mm of Xmax.

Vas is not a box size; it expresses the suspension's stiffness as an equivalent volume of air. A Qts in the mid-0.5 range is noticeably higher than the 12-inch SA252's 0.36, and rule-of-thumb guides usually steer such drivers towards sealed boxes. A ported box is possible, but model it rather than copying a design meant for another driver. Either way, brace the box well and allow 132.7 mm of depth behind the baffle plus clearance at the back wall.

D1 or D2: wiring the SA2508

Both versions have two voice coils, and how you join them sets the load your amplifier sees. The D1 gives 2 ohms with the coils in series or 0.5 ohms in parallel. The D2 gives 4 ohms in series or 1 ohm in parallel. Use both coils, keep them in phase, and never go below your amplifier's minimum rated load; 0.5 ohms is only for amplifiers rated for it.

For two subs, two D2s each wired in parallel and then joined in series present 2 ohms, and two D1s each wired in series and then joined in parallel present 1 ohm.

Amplifier pairing and the electrical side

For one SA2508, look for roughly 800 W RMS at the load you've wired to. Deaf Bonce rates the AAP-800.1D Atom Plus at 790 W into 1 ohm at 14.4 V, which suits a single D2 with its coils in parallel; a D1 in series (2 ohms) would get only 480 W from it. For a pair, two D1s wired to 1 ohm match the Atom 1600.1 PRO, rated at 1,600 W into 1 ohm. None of the Atom amplifiers we list is rated below 1 ohm, so the D1's 0.5-ohm option is off the table with them.

Electrically, this is the least demanding of the Apocalypse subs we sell. Even so, at 14.4 V, 800 W of output already corresponds to more than 50 A, and the amplifier's own losses add to that. It needs a properly sized power cable, a fuse close to the battery and a clean earth to bare metal. Set the gain with a test tone, not by ear; a clipped signal is a common way to overheat a voice coil.

What owners and reviewers say about the Deaf Bonce SA2508

When we checked in October 2026, we couldn't find any owner reviews, forum reports or independent tests of the SA2508 we could read. Deaf Bonce's page carries no reviews, and several big retailer and forum sites we tried block automated access, so feedback may exist that we couldn't see. We won't fill that gap with guesswork.

If you run an SA2508, tell us how it behaves in your car, in which box and on which amplifier; we'll add verified owner feedback here.

Deaf Bonce SA2508 vs MF-08S and SA252

The cheaper 8-inch option in our Deaf Bonce range is the Machete MF-08S (₹18,990 MRP): 600 W RMS, a 2-inch coil, 12 mm of Xmax, a steel frame and D2 or D4 coils. On paper the SA2508 adds 200 W of rating, a larger coil, 2 mm more Xmax, an aluminium frame and a lower Fs (35.9 Hz against 48.0 Hz, D2 against D2). It also costs about twice as much, has a far larger Vas (19.7 against 7.5 litres), sits deeper (132.7 mm against 115.8 mm) and needs a 189.0 mm hole rather than 183.0 mm, so it won't drop into an MF-08S baffle.

Then there's its own sibling. The Deaf Bonce SA252 is a 12-inch Apocalypse rated at 1,000 W RMS for ₹39,990. If your car has room for a 12-inch box, that's much more cone for very little extra money.

Who should buy it, and who shouldn't

Buy the SA2508 if space is the hard limit or you're building for an 8-inch class, and you'll give it a proper amplifier and a well-designed box.

Look elsewhere if a 12-inch box fits your boot, because the SA252 costs only slightly more. On a tighter budget, the MF-08S is the simpler upgrade, and on a couple of hundred watts you'd be paying for power handling you can't use.

Installation notes for Indian cars

Measure the boot opening as well as the floor; a box that fits the floor but won't pass the lid is a common surprise. Fix the enclosure to solid mounting points, because a loose box is dangerous under hard braking and soon rattles on broken roads.

Bass at this level finds every loose panel, usually the number plate, boot lid trim and parcel shelf; our guide to applying sound damping in a car explains how to quieten them. Run the power cable through a grommet and keep the amplifier where it gets airflow, not under luggage in a hot boot. VA3 Car Studio offers professional installation in Ghaziabad and can build a custom box to the volume you settle on.

Price and where to buy

The Deaf Bonce SA2508 carries an MRP of ₹37,990, and you choose the D1 or D2 version on the same listing. VA3 Car Studio often sells below MRP, so check the current offer on our DB-SA2508 store listing.

Deaf Bonce SA2508 - another view

The bottom line

The SA2508 makes sense when an 8-inch is what fits and you still want serious power handling. Its weak points are practical: no box recommendation on the product page, no owner track record we could find, and a price within ₹2,000 of a 12-inch Apocalypse. Choose it deliberately, model the box, and match the amplifier to the load you wire.

Deaf Bonce SA2508 FAQ

Should I choose the Deaf Bonce SA2508 D1 or D2?

Choose by your amplifier. The D1 gives 2 ohms in series or 0.5 ohms in parallel, while the D2 gives 4 ohms in series or 1 ohm in parallel. Pick the version that lands on a load your amplifier is rated for, and only use 0.5 ohms with an amplifier built for it.

What size box does the SA2508 need?

Deaf Bonce publishes no box volume on its product page. Model one from the listed figures: Fs of about 35 Hz, Qts of 0.55 to 0.56 and Vas of 19.0 to 19.7 litres. Allow 132.7 mm of mounting depth and a 189.0 mm cut-out.

Which amplifier suits a single SA2508?

Aim for about 800 W RMS at the final load. Deaf Bonce rates the AAP-800.1D at 790 W into 1 ohm, so it suits an SA2508 D2 with its coils in parallel. Into 2 ohms it makes 480 W, which leaves a D1 wired in series well short of its rating.
