Revolutionizing Car Audio: Focal Polyglass 165 Speakers - A review
Updated: 2 days ago
The Focal Polyglass 165 kit covered here is the PS 165 V1, a 6.5-inch (16.5 cm) two-way component speaker kit from Focal's Polyglass range. Focal's website now lists the PS 165 V1 Last Edition as no longer available. This page covers what Focal publishes about it and the Focal 6.5-inch kits we sell today.
How we wrote this: the figures below come from Focal's product pages (links at the end). We have not tested these speakers ourselves.

What is Polyglass?
Polyglass is Focal's cone material. Focal applies fine glass microbeads to a cellulose (paper) pulp cone. Focal says this combines the damping of paper with the rigidity of glass, and that it increases definition in the midrange.

Choosing a 6.5-inch kit for your car
Size and depth: check that your door takes a 16.5 cm (6.5-inch) speaker and has room for the mounting depth listed above.
Component or coaxial: a component kit needs a separate place for the tweeter, such as the door or A-pillar. A coaxial pair usually fits in the existing speaker position.
Power: compare the RMS rating with the output of your head unit or amplifier.
