Recoil ATC500.1 Review: Box-Mount Mono Amp and Its Three Power Figures
The Recoil ATC500.1 is a Class D mono-block subwoofer amplifier from Recoil's Echo Series, listed at RMS 520 W at 2 ohm and RMS 300 W at 4 ohm, with a separate 1,000 W maximum figure. Our listing and Recoil's own page label the first two RMS and the third maximum, and neither gives a test voltage. The Indian MRP is ₹25,000. It is designed to mount directly in a subwoofer enclosure, so the box matters as much as the amplifier. The full listing is on our product page for the ATC500.1.

Key takeaways
The RMS figures are 520 W x 1 at 2 ohm and 300 W x 1 at 4 ohm. The 1,000 W is a maximum with no load or voltage given, so size subwoofers against the RMS rows.
The minimum load is 2 ohm, and no 1 ohm rating is listed.
Controls are bass EQ, gain, a low-pass filter and a subsonic filter, with a remote bass control included. Neither page gives filter frequencies.
Recoil's page lists 2.29 lb and 9.5 x 5.4 x 5.4 in but no cutout size, fuse rating or supply voltage. We found no owner or reviewer write-ups.

The power figures and controls come from our store listing and agree with Recoil's own ATC500.1 page, which is promotional copy. Weight and size appear only on Recoil's page, and it does not say whether they describe the amplifier or its packaging.
Reading the three power figures
Recoil's page titles the amplifier MAX 1,000 Watts, then gives RMS 520 Watts x 1 at 2 ohm and RMS 300 Watts x 1 at 4 ohm. Our listing repeats the same figures with the same labels. The 500 in the model name and in our listing title matches no figure in either spec list. The closest is the 520 W RMS at 2 ohm.
Recoil gives no impedance or voltage for the 1,000 W maximum, and no supply voltage for either RMS figure. Our listings for most of Recoil's L3 amplifiers state 14.4 V, but this one states no voltage at all. Treat 1,000 W as a headline and plan the system from the 520 W and 300 W RMS rows at the load you wire.
Designed to mount in the subwoofer box
Recoil's page says the amplifier is designed to fit into a subwoofer box directly, and our listing says it is designed to be mounted directly in a subwoofer enclosure. Neither gives a cutout size, mounting dimensions or cooling guidance. Get the cutout and mounting details from Recoil's documentation before anyone cuts the box. VA3 Car Studio builds custom subwoofer enclosures.
A box-mounted amplifier shares the enclosure with the subwoofer's vibration, and a car boot in an Indian summer gets very hot. With no cooling guidance given, think about airflow around the amplifier before you decide where it sits. Boot panels can rattle when a subwoofer plays, and our guide to applying sound damping in a car covers damping vibration, including in the boot.
Controls and the remote
The control panel has bass EQ, gain, a low-pass filter and a subsonic filter, and a remote bass control comes with it. Neither page gives the filter frequencies, or the range of the bass EQ, so confirm them in Recoil's documentation. For comparison, our listing for the Recoil RL680.1 gives a 50 to 300 Hz low-pass filter, a 10 to 35 Hz subsonic filter and 0 to 12 dB of bass boost.
Pairing it with a subwoofer
A dual 4 ohm subwoofer with its coils wired in parallel presents 2 ohm, where the amplifier is listed at RMS 520 W. Our listing for the Recoil RW12D4 gives 300 W RMS and 600 W peak, and the Recoil RW10D4 gives 250 W RMS and 500 W peak. At 2 ohm the amplifier can supply well over either rating, so set the gain with the subwoofer's RMS figure in mind.
Wired in series, the same coils present 8 ohm, a load for which the ATC500.1 gives no figure. A subwoofer with a single 4 ohm coil presents 4 ohm, where the amplifier is listed at RMS 300 W. Check the subwoofer's RMS rating against the load you wire, never against the 1,000 W.
What owners and reviewers say about the Recoil ATC500.1
When we checked in October 2026, we found no owner or reviewer write-ups we could read for the ATC500.1. Recoil's page says there are no reviews yet, and the model is not on Recoil's US store, so the only descriptions we have are Recoil's and ours.
Compared with the RL680.1 and RL1600.1
The RL680.1 (₹18,000 MRP) lists 500 W at 2 ohm and 260 W at 4 ohm with no label on our listing or Recoil's main site, so the ATC500.1's labelled RMS rows are 20 W and 40 W higher on paper, for ₹7,000 more at MRP. The RL680.1 lists a 1 ohm output, filter ranges, a 0 to 12 dB bass boost, a 40 A fuse rating and a 9 to 16 V operating range, which the ATC500.1 pages leave out or leave unspecified. The ATC500.1 offers the box-mount design and a separate maximum figure.
The Recoil RL1600.1 (₹27,000 MRP) has only a 1500 W at 1 ohm figure in its title. At ₹2,000 less, the ATC500.1 states more: two RMS ratings, a maximum and a minimum load.
Who should buy it, and who shouldn't
Buy the ATC500.1 if you are building a subwoofer enclosure around the amplifier, want RMS stated at 2 ohm and 4 ohm with the maximum labelled as such, and are happy to take the cutout and filter details from Recoil's documentation. Our guide to the need for an amplifier in car sound systems covers the basics.
Look elsewhere if you need a rated 1 ohm load, which the RL680.1 lists, or a published supply voltage and fuse rating before you buy.
Installation notes for Indian cars
Recoil's page gives no fuse rating or supply voltage, so take the fuse size and cable gauge from Recoil's documentation rather than guessing. Mount the remote bass control where the driver can reach it, and keep its cable away from the power cable. VA3 Car Studio offers professional installation in Ghaziabad.
Recoil ATC500.1 price in India and where to buy
The ATC500.1 carries an MRP of ₹25,000. VA3 Car Studio often sells below MRP, so check the current offer on the ATC500.1 product page. Our listing describes it as a genuine Recoil product and says Recoil's manufacturer warranty applies where Recoil offers one. Recoil's warranty page is a general statement, headed as a speaker warranty, so confirm the India terms with the maker before you order.
The bottom line
The ATC500.1 is a mono amplifier built for a subwoofer box, with RMS stated at 2 ohm and 4 ohm and the 1,000 W maximum labelled as a maximum. Its gaps are the supply voltage, fuse rating, cutout size and filter frequencies. Plan from the 520 W and 300 W RMS rows, and get the box details from Recoil before you cut anything.
Recoil ATC500.1 FAQ
What power does the Recoil ATC500.1 deliver?
Our listing and Recoil's page give RMS 520 W at 2 ohm and RMS 300 W at 4 ohm, plus a separate 1,000 W maximum with no load or voltage stated.
Is the Recoil ATC500.1 really 1,000 W?
The 1,000 W is a maximum figure, not RMS. Size your subwoofers against the RMS rows of 520 W at 2 ohm and 300 W at 4 ohm.
Can the ATC500.1 run a 1 ohm load?
No 1 ohm rating is listed. Our listing gives a minimum load of 2 ohm, so do not wire it lower.
Does the ATC500.1 come with a bass remote?
Yes. Our listing and Recoil's page both say a remote bass control is included.
