Recoil SPL4200.4 Review: 4-Channel Amplifier Rated 1,050 W RMS x 4 at 1 Ohm

5 min read

The Recoil SPL4200.4 is a half-bridge Class D four-channel amplifier that Recoil's table rates at 1,050 W RMS x 4 into 1 Ω, 720 W RMS x 4 into 2 Ω and 420 W RMS x 4 into 4 Ω, with no test voltage stated. Recoil's US page describes it as "built for competition-level output". The Indian MRP is ₹80,000; see our Recoil SPL4200.4 product page.

Recoil SPL4200.4 half-bridge Class D 4-channel car amplifier

Key takeaways

  • Recoil's table labels 1,050, 720 and 420 W x 4 at 1, 2 and 4 Ω as RMS, plus 1,400 W x 2 bridged at 4 Ω. Its US page gives the 1,050 W and 420 W per-channel figures without the word RMS and has no 720 W or 1,400 W figure.

  • Four channels at 1,050 W make the 4200 in the name, and only at 1 Ω.

  • Dual 1/0 AWG connections and a 300 A fuse rating call for heavy cable and a ready electrical system.

  • We found no independent owner review. The competition wording comes from Recoil's US page.

Figures come from Recoil's SPL4200.4 page and our store listing. Filter ranges, the fuse rating and the competition wording come from Recoil's promotional US web store page. Recoil's general warranty page describes US terms and does not name this amplifier.

What the 4200 in the name adds up to

Four channels at 1,050 W make 4,200 W, but only at 1 Ω. At 2 Ω and 4 Ω each channel is rated lower, so the name marks the top rating, not the figure at every load. Recoil's table labels every power row RMS while its US page leaves the word out; we follow the table, which agrees with our listing.

The table states no test voltage, and the US page ties 14.4 V to the 1 Ω figure alone. Recoil does not say what the amplifier delivers from a lower supply, and a car idling in traffic with the AC on may not hold 14.4 V.

Loads, bridging and strapped mode

Every channel is rated into 1 Ω, a load that one dual 2 Ω subwoofer with its coils in parallel presents to a single channel. The bridged rating of 1,400 W x 2 is into 4 Ω. Recoil's table gives bridged ratings only at 4 Ω, so keep bridged pairs there unless the manual says otherwise.

Recoil also describes a strapped mode that joins two units and prints 2,150 W x 2 for it. The US page and our listing set that figure at 2 Ω, but recoilaudio.com prints it against 4 Ω, and neither page gives wiring or impedance advice. Read the manual before you plan a build around strapping.

Filters, bass boost and inputs

Each filter has two selectable ranges. Recoil's pages do not say whether the filters act on all four channels or on channel pairs, so check the manual before planning a layout that mixes full-range and subwoofer channels, or set crossovers in a DSP as our guide to setting up a DSP in your car audio system explains.

The table also lists a 0 – 16 dB bass boost and a 0.2 V – 6 V input range, but it does not say which channels the boost acts on, so check the manual. Recoil's page mentions Tiffany-style RCA connectors. Neither Recoil page nor our listing mentions speaker-level inputs, so if you are keeping a factory radio, ask us whether you need a line-output converter.

Electrical groundwork and fitting

Recoil lists dual 1/0 AWG power and ground connections, a 300 A fuse rating, a 9 V – 16 V operating range and microprocessor-controlled fans. The 300 A figure is a rating, not a fusing recipe, and we found no idle current published, so take fuse values and the cable run from the manual. The case measures 524 x 235 x 67 mm, so plan a boot-floor or custom-rack position with clear air at the fans. VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation, custom subwoofer boxes and DSP tuning.

What owners and reviewers say about the Recoil SPL4200.4

When we checked in October 2026, we found no independent review, owner thread or retailer review page for this amplifier that we could open. Recoil's page shows "Reviews (0)" and its US web store page shows no ratings. Retailer and video sites that block automated reading may hold reviews we missed, so we cannot tell you how owners rate it.

The competition description comes from Recoil's own promotional copy, not from our experience. If you run an SPL4200.4, tell us about your supply, your loads and how the fans behaved.

SPL4200.4 vs SPL6500.1, DII700.4 and RL1200.4

The Recoil SPL6500.1 (₹1,40,000 MRP) is the other Black Myth amplifier we list, a mono model ₹60,000 above the SPL4200.4 and 200 mm longer at 724 mm. Its recoilaudio.com table lists 6,500 W at 1 Ω at 14.4 V with no RMS label.

The Recoil DII700.4 (₹32,000 MRP) is a compact four-channel amplifier rated 95 W RMS x 4 into 4 Ω at 14.4 V, against the SPL4200.4's 420 W RMS x 4, though the SPL4200.4's table states no voltage. We also list the L3-series RL1200.4 (₹30,000 MRP), whose spec list gives 300 W x 4 at 2 Ω (14.4 V) without a rating label.

Who should buy it, and who shouldn't

Buy the SPL4200.4 if you want RMS-labelled four-channel ratings down to 1 Ω, you are ready for 1/0 AWG cable and a proper fusing plan, and you have room for a 524 mm amplifier.

Look elsewhere if you only want to power door speakers, where a smaller amplifier such as the DII700.4 is easier to fit and feed. Our guide on whether you need an amplifier in your car covers the basics first.

Price and where to buy

The SPL4200.4's MRP in India is ₹80,000. We often sell below MRP, so check today's offer on the SPL4200.4 product page. It is a genuine Recoil product; ask us which warranty terms apply in India before you order.

The bottom line

The SPL4200.4 pairs RMS-labelled ratings with heavy electrical demands. Its pages leave out a test voltage, an idle current and any strapping instructions, so confirm those in the manual and plan the supply side before you buy.

Recoil SPL4200.4 FAQ

Is the Recoil SPL4200.4 rated in RMS?

Yes on Recoil's own table: 1,050 W x 4 at 1 Ω, 720 W x 4 at 2 Ω, 420 W x 4 at 4 Ω and 1,400 W x 2 bridged at 4 Ω, with no test voltage stated. Recoil's US web store page gives the 1,050 W and 420 W per-channel figures but never uses the word RMS, and it has no 720 W or 1,400 W figure.

Is the SPL4200.4 stable at 1 ohm?

Recoil calls it a one-ohm stable amplifier and rates every channel at 1,050 W into 1 Ω. Recoil's table gives bridged ratings only at 4 Ω, so keep bridged pairs at 4 Ω unless the manual says otherwise.

What cable does the SPL4200.4 take?

Recoil lists dual 1/0 AWG power and ground connections and a 300 A fuse rating. It does not explain the fusing layout, so take the fuse values and cable run from the manual, or ask us to plan the install.
