Recoil RW10D4 Review: A 10-Inch Echo Sub Rated at 250 W RMS and 500 W Peak

6 min read

The Recoil RW10D4 is a 10-inch dual 4-ohm subwoofer from Recoil's Echo Series, rated by Recoil at 250 W RMS and 500 W peak. The India MRP is ₹10,000, and our listing gives a 121 mm mounting depth. The Recoil Audio USA page says it is built for daily use where efficiency and long-term reliability matter. It suits a buyer with an amplifier in the 250 W RMS class, and the listing is on our Recoil RW10D4 product page.

Recoil RW10D4 10-inch dual 4-ohm subwoofer

Key takeaways

  • Recoil prints 250 W as RMS and 500 W as peak. The 500W in our product name is the peak figure, so size the amplifier from 250 W RMS.

  • The Recoil Audio USA page says the dual 4-ohm coils wire to a 2-ohm or 8-ohm final load, so read an amplifier's RMS rating at that load, not at 4 ohm.

  • Our listing gives a 121 mm mounting depth and a 136 mm overall depth. The Recoil pages we read give no cutout, sensitivity or Thiele-Small figures.

  • Recoil's pages disagree on the voice coil and cone materials, and we found no independent owner reviews in October 2026.

Figures come from Recoil's RW10D4 page, the Recoil Audio USA page and our store listing. The USA page prints the power as 250W RMS / 500W peak, while its title says only 500 Watts Power.

Where Recoil's pages disagree on the build

Our listing agrees with recoilaudio.com, and the USA page differs on two materials. The table leaves them out for that reason.

  • Voice coil: 4-layer black aluminium on recoilaudio.com and in our listing, copper in the USA bullets, although the USA title says black-coated 4-layer.

  • Cone: pressed paper on recoilaudio.com, in our listing and in the USA title, pressed pulp with cotton fibres in the USA bullets.

  • Surround: NBR rubber on recoilaudio.com and in our listing. The USA page does not mention one.

We cannot tell from the pages which version is right, so ask Recoil or its distributor to confirm any material that matters to you. Both sites describe a cooling structure that promotes airflow, and neither gives temperature test data.

Dual 4-ohm wiring and the amplifier

The USA page says the coils wire to a 2-ohm or 8-ohm final impedance for flexible amplifier matching. By ordinary arithmetic that is parallel for 2 ohm and series for 8 ohm. Read the amplifier's RMS rating at the load you wire.

Recoil's DII700.4 shows how a figure can mislead. Its Recoil page prints 2 x 300 W RMS bridged at 4 ohm, 50 W above this sub's rating. The sub's final load is 2 ohm or 8 ohm, though, and the page prints no bridged rating at either. Its other RMS lines are per channel, 4 x 95 W at 4 ohm and 4 x 150 W at 2 ohm. Its ₹32,000 MRP is more than three times the sub's. Our guide to figuring out the need for an amplifier covers the basics.

Depth and enclosure

Our listing gives a 121 mm (4.76 in) mounting depth and a 136 mm overall depth, and mentions a custom Recoil mounting gasket for air-tight mounting. The USA page claims wide enclosure compatibility but names no enclosure type or volume. With no cutout published on the pages we read, a ready-made box is a gamble, so measure the driver itself. VA3 Car Studio builds custom subwoofer enclosures if you want a box made for the space you have.

What owners and reviewers say about the Recoil RW10D4

When we checked in October 2026 we found no independent owner reviews or test results for the RW10D4. Recoil's own page says there are no reviews yet, and the USA page shows none. The USA page says the unit is rated for extended play at peak levels without thermal failure. That is Recoil's claim, with no test conditions given. If you own one, tell us in the comments which amplifier, wiring and box you use it with.

RW10D4 vs RW12D4, LW8S4 and SW10D2

The Recoil RW12D4 is the 12-inch sibling, rated 300 W RMS and 600 W peak at ₹12,000 MRP, which is ₹2,000 more. The Recoil pages we read give it a 278 mm cutout and Thiele-Small figures, which they do not give the RW10D4. The USA pages list 34 Hz to 400 Hz for the RW10D4 and 35 Hz to 300 Hz for the RW12D4.

The Recoil LW8S4 is an 8-inch single 4-ohm driver rated 80 W RMS and 160 W peak at ₹6,500 MRP. The RW10D4 costs ₹3,500 more and has 170 W more RMS rating, plus a wiring choice that a single coil lacks.

The Recoil SW10D2 is a 10-inch dual 2-ohm driver rated 1,000 W RMS and 2,000 W peak, four times the RW10D4's RMS rating, at ₹40,000 MRP, which is ₹30,000 more. Our listing gives it a 170 mm mounting depth, 49 mm more than the RW10D4's 121 mm.

Who should buy it, and who shouldn't

Buy the RW10D4 if you want a 10-inch driver with a listed mounting depth, you are happy to wire dual coils to 2 or 8 ohm, and you accept missing cutout data, differing material descriptions and no independent test that we found.

Look elsewhere if you want a rating well above 250 W RMS, or you need a published cutout and Thiele-Small figures to plan a precise box. Skip it too if you need owner reviews first.

Installation notes for Indian cars

Wire both coils with matching leads and check polarity before you power up. Fuse the power cable close to the battery, follow the amplifier's manual for cable gauge and ground point, and leave air around the amplifier through an Indian summer. Bolt the box down against speed breakers, and read our guide to applying sound damping against boot-panel rattles. VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation.

Price and where to buy

The RW10D4 has an India MRP of ₹10,000. VA3 Car Studio often sells below MRP, so check the current offer on the RW10D4 product page. Our listing describes it as a genuine Recoil product.

Recoil's published warranty terms give one year to the original purchaser and say a blown or burned voice coil is not a manufacturing defect. They say nothing about coverage outside the USA, so confirm India terms with Recoil or its distributor before you buy.

The bottom line

The RW10D4 is a 10-inch dual 4-ohm driver with a stated 250 W RMS rating at ₹10,000 MRP. Its gaps are the missing cutout, the conflicting material details and the lack of independent tests. Choose the wiring and amplifier together, remembering the load will be 2 ohm or 8 ohm, then measure the driver before you build or buy a box.

Recoil RW10D4 FAQ

Is the Recoil RW10D4 a 250 W or a 500 W subwoofer?

Recoil rates it at 250 W RMS and 500 W peak. The 500W in our product name is the peak figure, so size the amplifier from 250 W RMS.

What impedance is the RW10D4 when wired?

The USA page says the dual 4-ohm coils wire to a 2-ohm or 8-ohm final load. By ordinary arithmetic that is parallel for 2 ohm and series for 8 ohm. Check the amplifier's RMS rating at that load.

How deep is the RW10D4?

Our listing gives a 121 mm mounting depth and a 136 mm overall depth. The Recoil pages we read give no cutout diameter, so measure the driver before cutting a baffle.

Is the RW10D4 voice coil copper or aluminium?

Recoil's pages disagree. The recoilaudio.com page and our listing say 4-layer black aluminium, while the USA bullets say copper. Ask Recoil or its distributor to confirm before you buy.
