Alpine R2-A75M Review: Compact 750 W Mono Amp for One R-Series Sub
Updated: Oct 6
The Alpine R2-A75M is a compact Class D mono subwoofer amplifier from Alpine's second-generation R-Series, rated at 500 W RMS into 4 Ω and 750 W RMS into 2 Ω, both at 14.4 V. Its Indian MRP is ₹55,999, the same as the S-Series S2-A120M and below the R2-A150M among the Alpine mono amplifiers we sell. It suits a one-subwoofer system, especially alongside the R2-A60F four-channel, whose chassis size it shares. You'll find today's price on our Alpine R2-A75M product page.

Quick summary
Rated at 500 W RMS × 1 into 4 Ω and 750 W RMS × 1 into 2 Ω at 14.4 V; 2 Ω is the lowest load Alpine rates it for.
Tuning covers a 50–400 Hz low-pass filter, an 8–40 Hz subsonic filter, both at 24 dB per octave, and up to 12 dB of bass EQ at 50 Hz.
At 282 × 55 × 165 mm and 3.5 kg it's compact, and Alpine allows 4 AWG power cable runs of up to 8 m.
The S2-A120M costs the same and is rated higher on paper, so this amp's case rests on its size and its R-Series pairing.

What 500 W and 750 W mean in practice
The R2-A75M is rated at two loads only: 500 W RMS into 4 Ω and 750 W RMS into 2 Ω, both at 1.0% THD+N or less. Alpine's manual sets 2 Ω as the minimum total load for two-subwoofer or dual-voice-coil systems, so this isn't a 1 Ω amplifier.
The 2 Ω figure lines up neatly with Alpine's own R2-W10 and R2-W12, each rated at 750 W RMS and sold in dual 4 Ω (D4) and dual 2 Ω (D2) versions. Wire both coils of a D4 version in parallel and the sub presents 2 Ω, where the amp's 750 W meets the sub's 750 W RMS rating. A D2 version wired in series presents 4 Ω and gets 500 W, which stays inside the sub's 750 W RMS rating.
As with any amplifier, the ratings assume 14.4 V. Idling in traffic with the AC on, a car's voltage can be lower, and the amp may then deliver less than its rating. A healthy battery and solid wiring matter more for a subwoofer amp than for anything else in the system.
Filters, bass EQ and inputs
The tuning set is aimed at subwoofer duty. The low-pass filter runs from 50 to 400 Hz at 24 dB per octave, steep enough to keep vocals out of the subwoofer. The subsonic filter, adjustable from 8 to 40 Hz at the same slope, trims energy below what the enclosure can usefully play; in a ported box that protects the driver from over-excursion below the port tuning.
The bass EQ adds up to 12 dB at 50 Hz. Use it sparingly: every 3 dB of boost asks for roughly double the power, so a full 12 dB can push the amp into clipping long before the volume knob suggests it. Alpine's RUX-KNOB.2 remote, sold separately, puts sub level on the dashboard, which is the better way to adjust bass from track to track.
The inputs match the R2-A60F's: LO for an aftermarket head unit's pre-outs, HI for factory speaker-level signals through Alpine's Speaker-RCA conversion cable, and a DC setting that switches the amp on by sensing DC offset, so no remote wire is needed behind a factory touchscreen.
What owners and reviewers say about the Alpine R2-A75M
We found only retailer reviews for this model when we checked in October 2026, and no magazine tests.
On OnlineCarStereo, three reviews dated April 2024 to September 2025 are all positive. One buyer says its output exceeded expectations and recommends pairing it with Alpine's R-Series subwoofers; another praises clean lows and strong power; a third says it stayed cool after hours of use even though its location is a little isolated, and that it sounds cleaner and louder than before, the difference from a cheap amp being easy to hear. OnlineCarStereo moderates reviews to remove unproven negative comments, so read this as a small, favourable sample.
The same retailer's page for the first-generation R-A75M, which covers the predecessor rather than this model, carries five similar reviews from 2020 to 2024 mentioning punchy bass, easy tuning with the subsonic and low-pass filters, and cool running. Alpine's manual and product pages are promotional. If you own one in India, tell us how it copes with summer heat in the boot.
R2-A75M vs S2-A120M, S2-A60M and R2-A150M
The comparison that matters is with the S2-A120M, which shares the ₹55,999 MRP. On paper the S-Series amp is stronger: 600 W into 4 Ω and 1,200 W into 2 Ω, with a quoted signal-to-noise ratio of over 85 dB at 1 W against over 75 dB. In return it's bigger, at 352 mm wide against 282 mm, and its manual limits 4 AWG power cable to 4.5 m where the R2-A75M allows 8 m, which can matter in an SUV with a long run to the boot.
Below both sits the S2-A60M (₹35,999 MRP), rated at 330 W into 4 Ω and 600 W into 2 Ω or 1 Ω. Above sits the R2-A150M (₹61,999 MRP), rated at 700 W into 4 Ω, 1,200 W into 2 Ω and 1,500 W into 1 Ω, which suits two subwoofers wired down to 1 Ω. The R2-A75M's strengths are its compact chassis and its match with the R2-A60F, so the pair can sit side by side.
Who should buy it, and who shouldn't
Buy the R2-A75M if you're running one Alpine R2-W12 or R2-W10, want a compact amp that fits where larger ones don't, or are building a matched R-Series system with the R2-A60F.
Look elsewhere if you want the most rated power for the money, where the S2-A120M is ahead at the same MRP, or you plan two subwoofers at 1 Ω, which needs an amp rated for 1 Ω, such as the S2-A120M or R2-A150M. Installation notes for Indian cars
Alpine's manual says the amplifier produces considerable heat and should be mounted where air can circulate freely, such as the boot. In most cars that means a boot side panel or the back of the rear seat, with space left around the heat sink; don't cover it with carpet or mount it where the sun hits it through the rear glass.
Alpine specifies 4 AWG (21 mm²) power cable for runs of up to 8 m and a main fuse of 80 A or more, against two 40 A fuses on the amp itself; place the main fuse close to the battery. A good ground to bare metal, gain set with a test tone and, in a ported box, the subsonic filter set just below the port tuning will do more for clean bass than the bass EQ. Price and where to buy
The Alpine R2-A75M carries an MRP of ₹55,999 in the Indian price list effective 1 June 2026. VA3 Car Studio often sells below MRP, so check today's offer on the R2-A75M product page. Every unit we sell is a genuine Alpine product.

The bottom line
The R2-A75M is a tidy, well-equipped mono amp for one subwoofer: 750 W into 2 Ω, steep low-pass and subsonic filters, bass EQ and factory-head-unit inputs in a chassis no bigger than Alpine's R-Series four-channel. It isn't the most powerful amp at its price, and the S2-A120M shows that plainly. Choose it for its size, its R-Series pairing and a one-sub system built around an R2-W10 or R2-W12.
Alpine R2-A75M FAQ
Which subwoofer suits the Alpine R2-A75M?
Alpine's R2-W10D4 or R2-W12D4 is the natural match. Wire the two 4 Ω voice coils in parallel and the sub presents 2 Ω, where the amp is rated at 750 W RMS, the same as the subwoofer's RMS rating.
Can the R2-A75M run at 1 ohm?
No. Alpine rates it at 4 Ω and 2 Ω only, and its manual sets 2 Ω as the minimum total load. For a 1 Ω system, the R2-A150M is rated at 1,500 W RMS into 1 Ω.
Does the R2-A75M have a subsonic filter?
Yes. Alpine lists a variable subsonic filter from 8 to 40 Hz at 24 dB per octave, alongside a 50 to 400 Hz low-pass filter and up to 12 dB of bass EQ at 50 Hz.
