The Alpine R2-W10 is a 10-inch (25 cm) subwoofer from the R2 generation of Alpine's R-Series, rated at 750 W RMS (2,250 W peak), with a Kevlar-reinforced pulp cone, double-stacked magnets and 20 mm of linear excursion. Our listing covers both versions, the R2-W10D4 with dual 4-ohm voice coils and the R2-W10D2 with dual 2-ohm coils, at an Indian MRP of ₹41,999, the same as the 12-inch R2-W12 and about half the price of the shallow RS-W10. It suits owners who want a high-power 10-inch for either a compact sealed box or a larger ported one. See today's price on our R2-W10 product page.

Alpine R2-W10 10-inch R-Series subwoofer

Key takeaways

  • 750 W RMS and a 26–200 Hz response from a 10-inch frame about 150 mm deep, with a 65.5 mm (2.6-inch) voice coil.

  • Choose the D4 for one sub at 2 ohms or a pair at 1 ohm; choose the D2 for one sub at 4 ohms or a pair at 2 ohms.

  • Alpine's technical sheet recommends a 14-litre sealed box or a 35-litre ported box tuned to 37 Hz.

  • Owners praise clean, hard-hitting bass, though the feedback is limited and partly incentivised.

What changed for the R2 subwoofers

Alpine's sheet, which is promotional in tone, lists three changes over the previous R-Series subs. Larger, double-stacked magnets add motor force for deeper, tighter bass control. An oversized hybrid poly-ceramic dust cap adds rigidity while damping vibration. And Alpine's HAMR surround lets the cone travel far while staying cool and accurate. The magnet alone weighs 123 oz, about 3.5 kg, on this 10-inch.

A total Q around 0.48 suits both sealed and ported boxes, and 20 mm of linear excursion gives the cone plenty of clean travel.

Sealed or ported: Alpine's box recommendations

Alpine gives a design for each:

  • Sealed: a net range of about 11 to 24 litres (0.4 to 0.85 cubic feet). The recommended box is about 305 x 305 x 267 mm outside (12 x 12 x 10.5 in) with about 14 litres (0.50 cubic feet) net, and Alpine quotes an F3 of 42 Hz for the D4 and 44 Hz for the D2.

  • Ported: a net range of about 21 to 37 litres (0.75 to 1.3 cubic feet), tuned between 35 and 39 Hz. The recommended box is about 330 x 292 x 641 mm outside (13 x 11.5 x 25.25 in), about 35 litres (1.25 cubic feet) net, with a 254 x 38 mm slot vent about 495 mm long, tuned to 37 Hz for an F3 of 29 Hz.

So the ported box reaches noticeably deeper on Alpine's figures, but it is about two and a half times the size. In a small boot, the sealed box keeps space for luggage; in an SUV with room to spare, the ported design gives more low-end output.

D4 or D2: wiring choices for the R2-W10

Both versions have two voice coils; which to buy depends on how many subs you want and your amplifier. Amplifier ratings are from our listings.

  • One R2-W10D4: coils in parallel give 2 Ω, where the R2-A75M makes 750 W RMS, an exact match. The S2-A60M (600 W at 2 Ω) also sits inside Alpine's range.

  • One R2-W10D2: coils in series give 4 Ω. The R2-A150M makes 700 W there, and the S2-A120M 600 W. Wiring its coils in parallel gives 1 Ω, where the R2-A150M's 1,500 W is double the sub's rating.

  • Two R2-W10D4s: each sub's coils in parallel, then the two subs in parallel, gives 1 Ω, where the R2-A150M's 1,500 W works out to 750 W per sub.

  • Two R2-W10D2s: each sub in series, then the pair in parallel, gives 2 Ω, where the R2-A150M or S2-A120M (both 1,200 W at 2 Ω) supplies about 600 W per sub.

What owners and reviewers say about the Alpine R2-W10

Feedback is modest and all from the US. This is what we found when we checked in October 2026.

Best Buy lists three five-star reviews of the R2-W10D4, all posted about two years ago. One owner, running it from an S2-A60M at 600 W into 2 ohms, says it hits harder than many 12-inch subs; another replaced an S-Series 10 and says their wife loves the additional bass and improved sound quality; a third calls it a favourite on a 2,000 W amplifier, which we wouldn't copy given Alpine's 750 W RMS rating. Two of the three reviewers are Best Buy employees, and all carry the promo considerations or sweepstakes label.

For the D2 version, which our listing also covers, four reviews on OnlineCarStereo from May 2023 to September 2025 praise its power and sound quality, clean output with strong impact, and tight bass without muddiness or distortion. One owner bought two; another found it a big step up from a previous 10-inch sub. OnlineCarStereo moderates reviews. We found no complaints, but also no independent test or Indian owner reports.

R2-W10 vs other Alpine subs

The R2-W12 costs the same ₹41,999, with the same 750 W rating and a deeper quoted 24 Hz, but is about 13 mm deeper at 163 mm and needs bigger boxes, about 21 litres sealed against 14. Choose the 10-inch when box size matters. The shallow RS-W10 (₹82,999) needs only 81 mm of depth but handles 600 W RMS, and the S2-W10 (₹24,999, 600 W RMS) is the budget option.

Who should buy it, and who shouldn't

Buy the R2-W10 if you want a powerful 10-inch with clear published box designs, plan to drive it with 600 to 750 W, and have room for a compact sealed box or a larger ported one.

Look elsewhere if depth behind the mounting surface is tight, where the RS-W10 is the answer, or if you want maximum low-end output and have room, where the R2-W12 at the same price may suit better.

Installation notes for Indian cars

Measure the boot before choosing a box: the recommended ported design is about 641 mm long, which some smaller boots can't spare, while the sealed box is a compact cube. Build from 19 mm MDF, brace large panels, seal every joint and bolt the box down so speed breakers and rough roads can't shift it.

Run power cable and fuses as your amplifier's manual specifies, keep the amplifier ventilated in a hot boot, set the low-pass near 80 Hz and set the gain with a test tone. Price and where to buy

The R2-W10 carries an MRP of ₹41,999 in our current Indian price list; the listing covers both the D4 and D2 versions, so tell us which you need. We often sell below MRP, so check the current offer on the R2-W10 product page. Every unit we sell is a genuine Alpine product.

The bottom line

The R2-W10 is a strong, well-documented 10-inch: 750 W RMS, a heavy double-stacked motor, and Alpine's own sealed and ported designs. Owner feedback is positive, if thin. Pick the D4 or D2 to suit your amplifier and the number of subs, build one of Alpine's boxes, and it makes a capable heart for an amplified system.

Alpine R2-W10 FAQ

Should I choose the D4 or D2 version of the Alpine R2-W10?

For one sub, the D4 wired to 2 ohms pairs with a 2-ohm amplifier such as the R2-A75M, while the D2 wired to 4 ohms suits amplifiers rated at 4 ohms. For two subs, D4s wire to 1 ohm and D2s to 2 ohms.

Sealed or ported box for the R2-W10?

Alpine's sealed design is about 14 litres net and compact; its ported design is about 35 litres net, tuned to 37 Hz, and reaches lower, with an F3 of 29 Hz against 42 to 44 Hz sealed. Choose by the space you can give it.

Which amplifier suits the R2-W10?

Alpine's recommended power range is 300 to 750 W RMS. A single R2-W10D4 at 2 ohms matches the R2-A75M's 750 W rating in our listing; a single R2-W10D2 at 4 ohms suits the R2-A150M, rated at 700 W into 4 ohms.
