AudioControl AC-LGD Review: Specifications, Installation and Comparisons
Quick summary: the buying decision
The AC-LGD is a pair of load generating devices for factory systems with Class D amplifiers. When the factory speakers are removed or bypassed, some factory systems mute outputs, distort or send damaging frequencies to new equipment; the AC-LGD provides load from carefully selected resistors and a Zobel network and stabilises the factory signal.
AudioControl AC-LGD: what it is
The AudioControl AC-LGD is a pair of load generating devices for factory systems with Class D amplifiers, which can mute, distort or send damaging frequencies to new aftermarket equipment when the factory speakers are removed. Carefully selected resistors and a Zobel network generate load and stabilise the factory signal.
VA3 Car Studio stocks three AudioControl versions: the AC-LGD-60 for factory amplified systems, the AC-LGD-20 for non-amplified systems and the AC-LGD with a Zobel network for factory Class D amplifiers. AudioControl names Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep and Maserati systems as typical applications for the AC-LGD-60 and AC-LGD-20.

Key features
Protects aftermarket equipment from muting, distortion and damaging frequencies from factory Class D amplifiers
Carefully selected resistors and a Zobel network
Supplied as a pair with standard wire colours for front and rear connections
Installs between the factory speaker outputs and a line output converter, or the speaker-level inputs of an amplifier or processor
Connects easily to AudioControl factory system upgrade products

When you need a load generator
If an aftermarket amplifier or processor is connected to factory speaker outputs and the factory speakers are disconnected, the factory amplifier's protection circuits may mute some or all outputs. You will usually notice channels cutting out or the system going silent after the upgrade. A load generator gives the factory amplifier the load it expects, so it keeps playing normally.
Installation
The AC-LGD installs between the factory speaker outputs and a line output converter, or the speaker-level inputs of an amplifier or processor. It is supplied as a pair, pre-wired with standard wire colours for front and rear connections, and connects easily to AudioControl factory system upgrade products such as the LC2i PRO and DM-810.
Count the factory channels you are replacing before ordering: a car that needs loads on more channels needs more pairs. Check whether the factory system is amplified, non-amplified or Class D, because that decides which version you need.

How it compares
The AudioControl load generators at VA3 Car Studio:
AudioControl AC-LGD-60: factory premium amplified systems (Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, Maserati), ₹5,940
AudioControl AC-LGD-20: factory non-amplified systems (Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, Maserati), ₹5,940
Price and value in India
At the time of writing (October 2026), VA3 Car Studio lists the AC-LGD at ₹5,940, 15% below the MRP of ₹6,990. It is a low-cost part that can save hours of fault-finding in a factory-system upgrade. Prices can change, so the product page always shows the current price.
Verdict: who should shortlist the AC-LGD
The AC-LGD is a small, inexpensive part that can decide whether a factory-system upgrade works properly. Buy it once you have confirmed the type of factory system in your car.
Real-world reviews and limitations
We have not yet published a VA3 installation report for the AC-LGD. The figures in this review are AudioControl's published specifications, not our own measurements, and real-world results depend on the installation, the wiring and the tune. If you have used one, we would welcome your feedback.
