Dynaudio Esotar2 430 Review: Specifications, Fitment and Comparisons
Quick summary: the buying decision
The Esotar² 430 is a 4-inch midrange driver (Esotar² reference series), rated at 150 W long-term (IEC) and 1,000 W transient (10 ms) at 4 ohm, with a recommended range of 200 – 7,000 Hz. A dedicated midrange takes the vocal band away from the woofer and tweeter, which is what makes a 3-way system sound clearer and more focused when it is filtered and placed properly.
Dynaudio Esotar² 430: what it is
The Dynaudio Esotar² 430 is the midrange driver from Dynaudio's flagship Esotar² reference car audio series, with a stiff, light and internally damped MSP (Magnesium Silicate Polymer) cone, an aluminium voice coil on an aluminium former and a rigid die-cast aluminium frame.
Esotar² is Dynaudio's flagship car audio range: the 110 tweeter, the 430 midrange, the 650 mid/woofer and the 1200 subwoofer, designed for active (DSP) systems. The cone drivers use MSP (Magnesium Silicate Polymer) cones in die-cast aluminium frames, and the tweeter sits in a CNC-machined metal housing.

Key features
MSP (Magnesium Silicate Polymer) cone: stiff, light and internally damped
Aluminium voice coil on an aluminium former for low moving mass and high power handling
Die-cast aluminium frame with aerodynamically shaped ribs to reduce resonance
150 W long-term power (IEC) and 1,000 W transient (10 ms)

Fitment: will it fit your car?
Measure the factory opening and the depth available behind it, including clearance to the window glass and its channel at full travel. Small drivers are usually mounted in the dash, A-pillars or custom pods; a rigid, sealed mounting keeps them clean at volume.
Crossover, filtering and placement
Dynaudio gives a recommended range of 200 to 7,000 Hz for the 430; set the active filters inside that band.
Mount midranges high in the dash or A-pillars where possible, close to the tweeters, so the vocal range and treble arrive from the same area.
Amplification
The 430 is designed for active use: give each midrange its own amplifier channel and DSP filter. A front 3-way Esotar² set needs six channels, which AudioControl's D-6.1200 provides with its built-in DSP.
