AudioControl DM-810 Review: Specifications, Installation and Comparisons
Quick summary: the buying decision
Shortlist the DM-810 if you want to keep a factory head unit, or add serious processing to an aftermarket system, and need full control over crossovers, equalisation and time alignment across up to ten output channels. It has no amplifier inside, so amplifier channels are a separate budget line; if you would rather have DSP and amplification in one chassis, compare it with AudioControl's D-series DSP amplifiers.
AudioControl DM-810: what it is
The AudioControl DM-810 is an 8-input, 10-output matrix digital signal processor for getting the best from a factory or aftermarket car audio system. It accepts speaker-level, line-level and digital (optical and coaxial) inputs and is set up with AudioControl's free DM Smart DSP app.
The DM-810 is AudioControl's standalone matrix processor. The same style of matrix DSP, tuned in the same free DM Smart DSP app, is built into the D-series DSP amplifiers, so the choice is mainly about whether you already have (or want separate) amplifiers. Any input can be routed to any output, which is what makes it useful for factory systems whose speaker signals arrive already filtered.

Key features
Route any input to any output, with signal summing, gain, delay and polarity control for every channel
30-band equaliser and 12 or 24 dB/octave Linkwitz-Riley high-pass, low-pass and band-pass crossovers on every output
Input and output RTAs (real-time analysers) to identify and sum factory speaker signals during OEM integration
AudioControl AccuBASS, GTO signal sensing and MILC clip detection
Option Port for future hi-res streaming and add-ons; works with the optional ACR-3 remote and AC-BT24 Bluetooth streamer/programmer
Specifications explained
It accepts eight channels of preamp input (input impedance 20 kohm preamp / 7 kohm speaker-level), so it can take either a factory speaker-level feed or an aftermarket head unit's RCA outputs, plus optical (Toslink) and coaxial digital inputs. Ten preamp outputs (up to 10 V RMS, 150 ohm output impedance) are enough for an active front 3-way set, rear speakers and a subwoofer.
AudioControl quotes 0.01% total harmonic distortion and a 20 Hz – 24 kHz frequency response. Every output has variable 12 or 24 dB/octave Linkwitz-Riley crossovers and a 30-band equaliser.

Factory integration: inputs, summing and turn-on
In a factory system, the input and output RTAs (real-time analysers) help you identify which factory channels carry which frequencies. Filtered factory signals, such as a tweeter-only or bass-only feed, can then be summed back into a full-range signal before you apply your own crossovers. AccuBASS compensates for the bass roll-off that many factory systems apply, and GTO signal sensing can switch the processor on from the audio signal when there is no remote wire. There is also a 12 V remote input and a 12 V remote output that is active when the unit is on.
Tuning workflow with the DM Smart DSP app
Set-up is done in AudioControl's free DM Smart DSP app. A sensible order of work is: confirm and sum the input signals, set crossovers to protect each driver, set levels and time alignment for the listening position, then equalise from measurements rather than by ear alone. The optional AC-BT24 adds wireless tuning from a phone or tablet and Bluetooth streaming, and the optional ACR-3 remote adds level control and preset recall.
For repeatable measurements, AudioControl's DM-RTA analyser with a CM-20 microphone gives you an RTA, SPL meter, polarity checker and oscilloscope in one tool.
Power, wiring and mounting
The DM-810 draws about 1 A and AudioControl recommends a 3 A fuse. It measures 10.5 x 5.7 x 1.6 in (W x D x H) and weighs 1.2 kg (2.6 lb). Mount it somewhere dry and ventilated, keep signal cables away from power cables, and use the remote output to switch the amplifiers so the whole system turns on and off together.

How it compares
Inside AudioControl's range, the closest alternatives are the D-series DSP amplifiers, which add amplifier channels to the same style of matrix DSP:
AudioControl D-6.1200: 6 x 125 W RMS at 4 ohm, 8 speaker-level inputs, app-tuned DSP, ₹1,74,240
AudioControl D-5.1300: 4 x 100 W + 1 x 300 W RMS at 4 ohm, 8 speaker-level inputs, app-tuned DSP, ₹1,74,240
AudioControl D-4.800: 4 x 125 W RMS at 4 ohm, 6 speaker-level inputs, app-tuned DSP, ₹89,240
If you already own good amplifiers, the DM-810 keeps them in the system; if you are starting from scratch, a D-series amplifier saves space and wiring.
Price and value in India
At the time of writing (October 2026), VA3 Car Studio lists the DM-810 at ₹89,240, 15% below the MRP of ₹1,04,990. The value comes from avoiding a head-unit replacement in cars where the factory screen and controls must stay, and from the tuning control it gives a good installer. Prices can change, so the product page always shows the current price.
Verdict: who should shortlist the DM-810
The DM-810 makes the most sense in a car where the factory head unit stays and the factory signals need to be identified, summed and re-filtered, or in an aftermarket build that needs more than six processed channels. It only delivers its potential with a measurement-based tune, so budget for installation and tuning time as well as the hardware.
Real-world reviews and limitations
We have not yet published a VA3 installation report for the DM-810. The figures in this review are AudioControl's published specifications, not our own measurements, and real-world results depend on the installation, the wiring and the tune. If you have used one, we would welcome your feedback.
Frequently asked questions
Does the DM-810 have a built-in amplifier?
No. It is a processor with 10 preamp outputs, so you need separate amplifiers, or you can choose a D-series DSP amplifier instead.
Can the DM-810 work with a factory head unit?
Yes. It accepts speaker-level inputs and has input RTAs and signal summing to rebuild a full-range signal from factory outputs.
How is the DM-810 tuned?
With AudioControl's free DM Smart DSP app. The optional AC-BT24 adds wireless tuning from iOS or Android and Bluetooth streaming.
What fuse does the DM-810 need?
AudioControl recommends a 3 A fuse; the unit draws about 1 A.
