Audison APBMW S8 Review: 8-Inch BMW Under-Seat Sub, 4 Ohm or 2 Ohm
The Audison APBMW S8 is a 200 mm (8 in) subwoofer driver from Audison's Prima range, rated at 150 W continuous and 300 W peak, and sold in two versions: the 4 ohm APBMW S8-4.2 and the 2 ohm APBMW S8-2.2. Audison describes it as a direct replacement for the factory speakers under the front seats of BMW-Mini cars. Both versions carry an Indian MRP of ₹49,990. Below we cover what separates the two, what Audison leaves out and what to confirm with us.

Key takeaways
Audison calls the S8 a direct replacement for the OEM speakers under the front seats, working with the factory acoustic load. Two 5 mm gaskets are included for OEM placements.
The 4 ohm and 2 ohm versions share their power ratings and 40-500 Hz range. Sensitivity is 88 dB for the S8-4.2 and 91 dB for the S8-2.2.
Audison's pages name no car models and do not say whether one driver or a pair is supplied. Our listing's box contents say a pair, so ask us to check fitment and pack quantity.
We found no customer reviews for either version when we checked in October 2026.

Figures come from Audison's S8-4.2 page, its S8-2.2 page and our listings. Audison's feature text gives a 38 mm voice coil while its tables, and our listings, give 50 mm; we use the tables. The 4 ohm page also repeats a line about a 2-ohm configuration for use with the AP 8.9 bit, which does not fit its 4 ohm rating. Audison's drawing carries seven dimensions with no definitions, so we cannot give a confirmed mounting depth.
What Audison says the APBMW S8 does
Audison presents the S8 as a direct replacement for the OEM speakers under the front seats, designed to make use of the factory acoustic load for deep, crisp low frequencies. The motor is a neodymium group with an inverted acoustic structure and an internal cone, which Audison says limits bulk and weight and keeps the installation depth unchanged.
Audison describes the driver as working with the enclosure the car already has, so the result depends on that enclosure. The pages we read give no recommended box volume, only a driver displacement of 1.2 l.
4 ohm or 2 ohm: Audison APBMW S8-4.2 vs S8-2.2
The published ratings, frequency range, magnet, cone and weight are the same. The electro-acoustic figures differ: the S8-2.2 is 3 dB more sensitive (91 dB against 88 dB), has a lower DC resistance (2.2 ohm against 3.8 ohm) and a lower Qts (0.5 against 0.65), and its Vas is 22.3 l against 21 l.
Which one to choose depends on what drives it. A 2 ohm load draws more current from the same voltage, so check your amplifier's rated output at 2 ohm first. Audison's feature line says the 2-ohm configuration gives maximum output with the AP 8.9 bit in active multi-amplification. A sponsored 2021 BestCarAudio piece, which names the S8-4 and S8-2 rather than the S8-4.2 and S8-2.2, says the 4 ohm model is slightly less sensitive and can match the 2 ohm model's loudness when bridged on a Prima amplifier; we treat that as promotional. Audison's pages do not say which version suits which car, so tell us your car and amplifier.
Pair or single driver: what to confirm before you order
Audison's pages are titled Subwoofer Driver and give no package contents or quantity. Our listing's box contents say under-seat woofers (pair). Retailers abroad differ: ABT sells the S8-4.2 as each, and OnlineCarStereo lists one driver on its S8-4.2 page but two on its S8-2.2 page. If the quantity matters to you, ask us to confirm the pack.
Fitment needs the same care. Audison's pages write only BMW-Mini, with no series, models or years, and our listings say for BMW. We make no claim for any specific car here; send us your car's make, model and year and ask us to check fitment.
What owners and reviewers say about the Audison APBMW S8
We found no customer reviews for either version when we checked in October 2026. The OnlineCarStereo pages for the S8-4.2 and S8-2.2, the S8-4.2 page at ABT and the one at Frankie's Auto Electrics all show none. OnlineCarStereo's listing for an S8-4, a differently named model that we treat only as related, and a UK retailer's Mini under-seat pair, which names no model number, also show none.
The one write-up we found is a BestCarAudio spotlight from September 2021 on the whole APBMW range. It is labelled as a sponsored post, so we treat it as promotional, and it has no measured data. It says the S8-2 and S8-4 include polyurethane gaskets to seal the factory enclosure and a fabric cover over the cone. If you own an S8, we would like to hear how it behaves in your car.
Audison APBMW S8 vs other subwoofer options
Morel sells an 8-inch direct-fit under-seat subwoofer for BMW, covered in our older post on the Morel IP-BMWSUB82, and Recoil's RBMW-8W under-seat pair is in our store. We have not compared their figures here, so check each listing.
Inside Audison's range, the APBX 8 AS2 is an active sealed box with its own 250 W RMS amplifier, and the APS 10 is a 10-inch driver with published enclosure volumes. Both are separate-enclosure products with higher published ratings than the S8, not factory-position replacements.
Who should buy the Audison APBMW S8, and who shouldn't
Buy it if you want to keep the factory under-seat position and enclosure, you have confirmed fitment and pack quantity with us, and you know whether your amplifier suits a 4 ohm or 2 ohm load.
Look elsewhere if you want output beyond what a factory-sized enclosure can give, or your car has no factory under-seat speakers to replace. The other APBMW speakers we list are 4-inch models: see the X4M coaxial and K4M component kit posts.
Installation notes for Indian cars
Under-seat positions collect dust, grit and spilled drinks, and floors get wet in the monsoon. Audison's general APBMW manual says to keep speakers away from water, excess humidity, dust and dirt, and to check for cables or structural elements before drilling or cutting into the chassis. VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation.
The S8 is described for the factory enclosure and Audison gives no recommended box volume. If you want a custom box instead, ask us, since we build custom subwoofer boxes; the APS 10, by contrast, comes with published enclosure volumes. Our guide to whether you need an amplifier covers the power side, and sound damping helps with panel rattles near the seats.
Audison APBMW S8 price and where to buy
The 4 ohm Audison APBMW S8-4.2 and the 2 ohm Audison APBMW S8-2.2 each carry an MRP of ₹49,990. VA3 Car Studio often sells below MRP, so check the current offer on each listing.

The bottom line
The Audison APBMW S8 is, in Audison's words, a direct replacement for the factory under-seat speaker, in 4 ohm and 2 ohm versions with the same ratings. What is missing is owner feedback, a stated pack quantity and any car models named on Audison's pages, so confirm those with us before ordering. Choose the impedance to suit your amplifier, not the other way round.
Audison APBMW S8 FAQ
What is the difference between the Audison APBMW S8-4.2 and S8-2.2?
Mainly impedance and sensitivity. The S8-4.2 is 4 ohm and 88 dB; the S8-2.2 is 2 ohm and 91 dB. Both are rated 150 W continuous and 300 W peak, and both have an MRP of ₹49,990.
Is the Audison APBMW S8 sold as a pair?
Audison's pages do not say. Our listing's box contents say a pair, but retailers abroad sell it differently, so ask us to confirm the pack quantity before you order.
Will the Audison APBMW S8 fit my BMW or Mini?
Audison's pages name only BMW-Mini and list no models or years, so we cannot promise fitment from the page alone. Send us your car's make, model and year and ask us to check fitment.
