Dynaudio Esotar2 110 Review: Specifications, Fitment and Comparisons
Quick summary: the buying decision
The Esotar² 110 is a 28 mm soft dome tweeter (Esotar² reference series), rated at 150 W long-term (IEC) and 1,000 W transient (10 ms) at 6 ohm, with a recommended range of 2,000 – 30,000 Hz. It must be fed through a high-pass filter, and where you place and aim it has a bigger effect on the stereo image than almost any other choice in the system.
Dynaudio Esotar² 110: what it is
The Dynaudio Esotar² 110 is the tweeter from Dynaudio's flagship Esotar² reference car audio series. Its hand-coated 28 mm fabric soft dome is driven by an ultra-light aluminium voice coil and a neodymium magnet, in a CNC-machined metal housing with a damped rear chamber and ferrofluid cooling.
Esotar² is Dynaudio's flagship car audio range: the 110 tweeter, the 430 midrange, the 650 mid/woofer and the 1200 subwoofer, designed for active (DSP) systems. The cone drivers use MSP (Magnesium Silicate Polymer) cones in die-cast aluminium frames, and the tweeter sits in a CNC-machined metal housing.

Fitment: will it fit your car?
Measure the factory opening and the depth available behind it, including clearance to the window glass and its channel at full travel. The Esotar² 110 needs 27 mm of mounting depth and a ø86 mm cut-out. Small drivers are usually mounted in the dash, A-pillars or custom pods; a rigid, sealed mounting keeps them clean at volume.
Crossover, filtering and placement
Dynaudio recommends a high-pass at 2,000 Hz in an active system, within a recommended range of 2,000 to 30,000 Hz.
A-pillar or dash mounting usually gives the best stereo image; aim towards the opposite seat as a starting point and adjust by listening and measurement.
Amplification
Dynaudio recommends active use with a high-pass at 2,000 Hz, so each tweeter needs its own amplifier channel behind a DSP. A front 3-way Esotar² set (110, 430 and 650 on each side) needs six channels, which AudioControl's D-6.1200 provides with its built-in DSP.
