Onkyo X-GRLW5 Review: 240 W Grille Light Set and What Its Listing Leaves Out
The Onkyo X-GRLW5 is an LED grille projector light set rated at 240 W per set and 6000 lm, with 3000K / 6000K light, IP68 waterproofing and a 9 to 32 V DC supply range. The India MRP is ₹21,990, the highest of the three Onkyo grille lights in our store. We found no page for it on Onkyo's own website, so every figure here comes from our listing. See the X-GRLW5 product page in our store.

Quick summary
An LED grille projector light set: 240 W per set, 6000 lm, 3000K / 6000K, IP68 and 9 to 32 V DC.
We found no Onkyo product page for it on 29 October 2026, so its figures cannot be checked against the manufacturer.
It lists more than double the wattage of the X-GRLS2 and X-GRLS3 but the same 6000 lm, and the listing does not explain the gap.
Our arithmetic gives about 20 A at 12 V, so the wiring needs real care. We found no owner reviews or tests.

A grille light with no Onkyo page
Onkyo's Car Light collection page lists 12 products by name, including two grille lights, the X-GRLS2 and X-GRLS3, but not the X-GRLW5. The collection's product list and sitemap show no entry for it either, and the address a page would take, following Onkyo's pattern, did not load when we checked on 29 October 2026. We cannot say why. The 240 W, 6000 lm, IP68 and voltage figures therefore cannot be cross-checked against a manufacturer page. Our listing describes the set as a genuine Onkyo product and says that all sales are final, so settle your questions before ordering.
240 W against 6000 lm: the unexplained gap
The X-GRLS2 lists 100 W and 6000 lm, and the X-GRLS3 lists 110 W and 6000 lm. The X-GRLW5 lists 240 W and the same 6000 lm. Wattage is the electrical rating and lumens describe total light output, so a bigger wattage figure does not by itself promise more light. The listing does not say what the extra power is for, and we will not guess. None of the three listings gives a beam angle or lux figure, the numbers that would show how much light reaches the road.
Power and wiring: about 20 A at 12 V
Dividing 240 W by 12 V gives 20 A, and by 24 V gives 10 A. This is our arithmetic, not a published rating, and it assumes the full rating is drawn. The 9 to 32 V DC range covers both 12 V and 24 V systems, and the listing gives no lamp count, so the current per lamp is unknown. A load that size deserves its own fused feed and relay, with cable sized for the whole set and the length of the run, not a tap from an existing lighting circuit, and it comes on top of whatever else the car is running.
Much of any LED lamp's electrical input ends up as heat, and the listing does not describe the cooling design. Leave space behind the grille, keep plastic trim and wiring clear of the bodies, and seal every connector, since IP68 covers the light and not your joints.
Beam pattern, aim and local rules
The listing gives no beam pattern, whereas the X-GRLS2 and X-GRLS3 both list a spot beam, so treat aim as a test. Park on level ground facing a wall, mark each light's centre height, and adjust in the dark until the brightest patch sits at or below that mark. Recheck after a few weeks, because speed breakers knock lights out of line. Keep the lights off whenever they could dazzle oncoming traffic. Local rules on additional lamps and lamp colour differ, so read the current ones for your area; the listing makes no approval statement.
What owners and reviewers say about the Onkyo X-GRLW5
We found no owner reviews or independent tests of the Onkyo X-GRLW5 when we checked in October 2026. Our listing has no customer reviews, Onkyo has no page for it, and searches by model number returned nothing relevant. Amazon, Flipkart and YouTube could not be searched with our tools, so reviews may exist there.
The nearest material concerns other products and dates from 2021. On a page of Team-BHP's auto lighting thread, members asked whether a car's stock fog lamp wiring and relay can carry a higher-wattage kit, and one said a suitable relay was hard to source. One member said they had fitted 3-inch projector fog lamps without a relay, and elsewhere on the page a member advised keeping the stock fog lamps because the plastic housing cannot handle a higher-wattage kit. Those are individual views about other products, and none concerns Onkyo or grille lights. If you own an X-GRLW5, tell us how many lamps came in the set, what beam it throws and how you wired it.
X-GRLW5 against the X-GRLS2 and X-GRLS3
Listed figure | X-GRLW5 | X-GRLS3 | X-GRLS2 |
|---|---|---|---|
India MRP | ₹21,990 | ₹12,990 | ₹9,990 |
Power per set | 240 W | 110 W | 100 W |
Light output | 6000 lm | 6000 lm | 6000 lm |
Beam pattern | Not listed | Spot | Spot |
Body | Not listed | 6063 aluminium | 6063 aluminium |
Lifespan | Not listed | 50,000 hours | 50,000 hours |
Onkyo product page | None found | Yes | Yes |
All three list 3000K / 6000K, IP68 and a 9 to 32 V supply. The X-GRLS3 and X-GRLS2 carry fuller figures, backed by Onkyo pages, for less money, and nothing in the X-GRLW5 listing shows what its extra power and price buy.
Who should buy it, and who shouldn't
Buy the X-GRLW5 if you have a specific reason to want this 240 W set, accept that its listing gives no beam pattern, body material, lifespan or working temperature, and will have the roughly 20 A at 12 V wired properly.
Look elsewhere if you want a known spot beam with a body, lifespan and temperature range on record, which the X-GRLS2 and X-GRLS3 list, or a flat cut-off pattern for the road just ahead, which Onkyo's fog projectors such as the X-FLAF21 list, or if your wiring could not comfortably take the extra load.
Installation notes for Indian cars
Look at the grille from the front and behind before you order. You need room for the lights, a fixing that does not block airflow to the radiator, and a protected route for the cable. The listing mentions no brackets, harness or dimensions, so ask us to check fitment. Choose a position where stones and mud will not hit the lenses and speed breakers will not loosen the mounts. VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation, which suits a load of this size.
Onkyo X-GRLW5 price and where to buy
The Onkyo X-GRLW5 has an India MRP of ₹21,990. VA3 Car Studio often sells below MRP, so check today's price on the X-GRLW5 listing, which describes the set as a genuine Onkyo product. Warranty terms and duration are set by Onkyo, so confirm them with us before ordering. Onkyo's X-WL711 and X-WL721 work lights are also in our store.
The bottom line
The X-GRLW5 is the highest-rated and highest-priced of the three Onkyo grille lights in our store, and the least documented: no Onkyo page, no beam pattern and the same 6000 lm as the 100 W X-GRLS2, unexplained. At about 20 A on a 12 V system it needs proper wiring. Weigh it against the X-GRLS2 or X-GRLS3 before paying for the bigger number.
Onkyo X-GRLW5 FAQ
What are the Onkyo X-GRLW5 specifications?
Our listing gives 240 W per set, 6000 lm, 3000K / 6000K, IP68 and 9 to 32 V DC, with an India MRP of ₹21,990. It lists no beam pattern, body material, lifespan or working temperature.
Does the Onkyo X-GRLW5 have an Onkyo product page?
We found none on 29 October 2026. Onkyo's Car Light collection lists only the X-GRLS2 and X-GRLS3 as grille lights, so the X-GRLW5 figures cannot be checked against a manufacturer page.
How much current does the Onkyo X-GRLW5 draw?
No current figure is published. Dividing 240 W by 12 V gives 20 A, and by 24 V gives 10 A, which is our arithmetic. Size the fuse, relay and cable for the whole set.
Is the Onkyo X-GRLW5 brighter than the X-GRLS3?
The listings do not show it. The X-GRLW5 lists 240 W against 110 W, yet both list 6000 lm, and no beam angle or lux figure is published for either.
