Recoil PW OFC Power Wire Review: 0, 4 and 8 AWG Oxygen-Free Copper Spools
The Recoil PW OFC Power Wire is three bulk spools of oxygen-free copper (OFC) power wire: the PW4-80, 4 AWG on 80 ft (24.4 m) at ₹48,000 MRP, the PW8-150, 8 AWG on 150 ft (45.7 m) at ₹35,000, and the PW0-50, 0 AWG on 50 ft (15.2 m) at ₹70,000. Recoil's US pages give 0.12 mm strands for all three but no current rating. They suit fitters who want copper power cable by the foot and who will match the gauge and the fuse themselves.

Key takeaways
All three spools are OFC with 0.12 mm strands per Recoil's US pages: 1,862 strands (4 AWG), 735 (8 AWG) and 4,704 (0 AWG).
Our arithmetic puts each strand total at 99.3% to 99.4% of its gauge's nominal copper area; with 0.12 mm quoted to two figures, that is close to the labels, not proof of them.
Recoil publishes no current rating, so size the run from the fuse and confirm with Recoil or the distributor.
At MRP the spools cost ₹600, about ₹233 and ₹1,400 per foot, roughly ₹26 to ₹28 per foot per mm² of nominal area.

Figures follow our listings and Recoil's US pages for the PW4-80, PW8-150 and PW0-50, plus Recoil's main-site PW4-80 page. Purity is the main conflict: the titles for the 4 and 8 AWG spools say 99.9% and their descriptions 99.99%, the PW0-50 page says 99.99%, and our listings give no percentage, so we quote none. Our addresses say Echo Pro, while our Series line and Recoil's titles say Premium True Spec.
Do the strand counts add up to the gauge?
Each 0.12 mm strand is about 0.01131 mm² of copper. Multiplying by the strand count and comparing with the nominal area in the American wire gauge table:
Spool | Strands | Strand total | Gauge area | Share |
|---|---|---|---|---|
PW4-80, 4 AWG | 1,862 | 21.06 mm² | 21.2 mm² | 99.3% |
PW8-150, 8 AWG | 735 | 8.31 mm² | 8.37 mm² | 99.3% |
PW0-50, 0 AWG | 4,704 | 53.20 mm² | 53.5 mm² | 99.4% |
All three land within 1% of their gauge, but 0.12 mm is quoted to two figures and area scales with the square of the diameter, so rounding in that figure could move each total by several percent. Treat this as a rough check on Recoil's strand data, not proof that the gauge is exact. This is our arithmetic, not a Recoil statement, and it says nothing about purity or current rating. The same article notes that a stranded wire's gauge is set by the cross-section of the equivalent solid conductor, with gaps between strands not counted.
What copper loses over 5 m
For solid copper at 20 °C, one 5 m cable loses the following at example currents, which are not ratings:
Gauge | Resistance per metre | Lost at 50 A | Lost at 100 A |
|---|---|---|---|
0 AWG | 0.3224 milliohm | 0.081 V | 0.161 V |
4 AWG | 0.8152 milliohm | 0.204 V | 0.408 V |
8 AWG | 2.061 milliohm | 0.515 V | 1.03 V |
Each four-gauge step cuts copper's resistance to about 40%, so 0 AWG loses about 40% as much as 4 AWG, which loses about 40% as much as 8 AWG. Stranded OFC will sit a little above these best-case figures, the ground path adds its own drop, and heating is a separate limit for which Recoil gives no figure.
Matching a spool to your amplifier's fuse
As general practice, the wire's rating should sit at or above the fuse that protects it, and the fuse goes within about 45 cm (18 in) of the battery. Recoil gives no current rating for the PW spools, so we cannot say which fuse each takes. Recoil's pages list fuse ratings of 90 A for the Recoil RL1200.4, 300 A for the Recoil SPL4200.4, 350 A for the Recoil DII5000.1 and 400 A for the Recoil SPL6500.1. The SPL4200.4 page also lists dual 1/0 AWG power and ground connections, the same size as 0 AWG in the gauge table.
Recoil's US pages say the PW0-50's 50 ft allows battery-to-amplifier runs without mid-run splices and the PW8-150's 150 ft supports multi-run or full-vehicle installs, but these claims are promotional and give no rating. Per our listing, the PCK8 kit (₹12,000 MRP) pairs 20 ft of 8 AWG OFC power and ground wire with an 80 A Mini-ANL fuse. The same 20 ft from the PW8-150 would cost about ₹4,667 at MRP, so for one car the kit may be simpler. Confirm any wire and fuse pairing with Recoil or the distributor.
Price per foot, and against the CCA spools
At MRP the PW4-80 is ₹600 per foot, the PW8-150 about ₹233 and the PW0-50 ₹1,400. Divided by each gauge's nominal area, that is about ₹28, ₹28 and ₹26 per foot per mm², so at MRP the step up to 0 AWG does not raise the price per unit of copper. Against the CCA spools in our Recoil Echo CCA Power Wire post, the OFC spools cost about 4.4 times as much at 4 AWG and 4.1 times at 8 AWG. We list no CCA spool at 0 AWG.
What owners and reviewers say about the Recoil PW OFC Power Wire
When we checked in October 2026, Recoil's main-site PW4-80 page showed no reviews, its US pages for the three spools showed none, our three listings have no reviews section, and we found no independent reviews or owner threads. So there is no owner verdict to report, and we will not invent one. Recoil's own claims are promotional: that the copper helps prevent power loss across the system and that many strands increase current flow, with no figures.
Who should buy it, and who shouldn't
Buy the Recoil PW OFC Power Wire if you want copper power cable by the foot in 4, 8 or 0 AWG, can read an amplifier's fuse rating and terminal size, and accept that Recoil publishes strand data but no current rating.
Look elsewhere if you need a documented ampacity, are wiring one small amplifier (a kit may be simpler and cheaper), or want a lower price per foot and accept CCA.
Installation notes for Indian cars
Disconnect the battery negative first, fit the fuse within about 45 cm of the positive terminal, and use a grommet where the wire passes the firewall. All three spools are red, so mark the ground lead at both ends or use black cable for it. Heavy-gauge wire is stiff, so plan the route before cutting, and check that your amplifier's terminals accept the gauge.
Crimp large ring terminals with a proper tool and tug each one, then seal the ends against monsoon damp and car-wash spray with heat-shrink. Keep the run away from the exhaust, engine heat and sharp edges. VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation if you would rather have the wiring done for you.
Price and where to buy
The PW4-80 (4 AWG, 80 ft) carries an MRP of ₹48,000: see the PW4-80 listing. The PW8-150 (8 AWG, 150 ft) carries an MRP of ₹35,000: see the PW8-150 listing. The PW0-50 (0 AWG, 50 ft) carries an MRP of ₹70,000: see the PW0-50 listing. VA3 Car Studio often sells below MRP, so check the current price on each page.
The bottom line
The Recoil PW OFC Power Wire is copper power cable whose published strand data comes close to the gauge's nominal area by our arithmetic, with no published current rating. Choose the gauge from your amplifier's fuse and run length, and confirm the pairing with Recoil or the distributor.
Recoil PW OFC Power Wire FAQ
Is the Recoil PW OFC Power Wire pure copper?
Our listings call all three spools oxygen-free copper (OFC) and give no purity percentage. Recoil's pages say 99.9% in the titles and 99.99% in the descriptions of the 4 and 8 AWG spools, and 99.99% for the 0 AWG spool, so confirm the figure with Recoil or the distributor if it matters to you.
Does Recoil publish a current rating for the PW spools?
No. Recoil's pages give gauge, strand count, strand diameter and length, but none of the pages we read gives an amp rating. Size the run from your amplifier's fuse and confirm the pairing with Recoil or the distributor.
Do the strand counts match the gauge?
By our arithmetic, roughly. With the 0.12 mm strands Recoil's US pages give, the totals come to 99.3% of 4 AWG's nominal area, 99.3% of 8 AWG's and 99.4% of 0 AWG's, but 0.12 mm is a rounded figure, so treat that as a rough check. That is our calculation, not a Recoil statement.
