Steg MDSP6 Review: Listed as 6-Channel, but How Many Are Amplified?
The Steg MDSP6 is a DSP amplifier that our listing describes as 6-channel, with an Indian MRP of ₹42,990, the lowest of the four Steg DSP amplifiers we list. The listing gives no power rating, input types or software, and we found no MDSP6 manual. So this review is about what to settle before you buy: how many of the six channels are amplified, what it accepts from a factory head unit, and how it is tuned. It suits a buyer who will confirm those points first. See it on our Steg MDSP6 product page.

Quick summary
Listed as a 6-channel DSP amplifier: a car amplifier with a built-in digital signal processor. The listing does not say how many channels are amplified or what power they deliver.
Input types, tuning software, supply voltage, fuse, size and weight are not listed either.
The Morel, Zapco and Alpine 6-channel DSP amps we list each amplify four channels at 23 to 25 W RMS, at MRPs from ₹19,990 to ₹21,999.
We found no owner reviews. The related MDSP10 manual documents DSP tools, but only for that model.
Steg MDSP6 specifications

All figures come from our store listing, which takes the channel count from the Indian distributor's price list. We could not open Steg's own website from our research session, so nothing here has been checked against a manufacturer page.
What does 6-channel mean on a DSP amplifier?
On a DSP amplifier the channel count can describe the processor rather than the amplifier. In the Morel, Zapco and Alpine 6-channel DSP amps below, four of the six channels are amplified:
Model | Channels as labelled | Amplified channels | RMS power at 4 Ω | MRP |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Steg MDSP6 | 6 (distributor price list) | Not listed | Not listed | ₹42,990 |
Morel MDSP 6/4A | 6 | 4 | 25 W x 4 | ₹19,990 |
Zapco HB 46 II 4A | 6 | 4 | 23 W x 4 | ₹21,990 |
Alpine PXE-640E-EL | 6 | 4 | 25 W x 4 | ₹21,999 |
Details are on our Morel MDSP 6/4A, Zapco HB 46 II 4A and Alpine PXE-640E-EL reviews. Each brand states power under its own conditions, and Alpine's manual quotes its 25 W at 10% THD, so read the figures as a guide, not a strict ranking.
Steg's own MDSP10 manual shows how the numbers can diverge: its panel diagram labels line outputs CH1 to CH10 but speaker outputs 1 to 8. Whether the MDSP6's six are line outputs, amplified outputs or a mix is not stated anywhere we looked. The MDSP6's MRP is about twice the three peers', but with no power rating the prices cannot be compared like for like.
What the related MDSP10 manual documents
The one Steg document we found for this family is the MDSP10 manual on ManualsLib. It is OCR text for the MDSP10, a different model, so it shows how Steg documents its DSP amps, not what the MDSP6 offers. Per that manual, the MDSP10 has:
a 32-bit DSP with 24-bit converters and a 31-band equaliser on each output channel, with Q from 1 to 12;
Linkwitz, Bessel and Butterworth crossover filters on each output channel, with slopes up to 48 dB/oct;
phase per channel from 0 to 180 (unit not printed), digital time delay set automatically or manually, and 0 to 40 dB of gain per channel;
eight presets, a PC program over USB with an optional password, and an optional DRC remote.
None of this is confirmed for the MDSP6. Band counts, slopes, delay and software could differ on another model, and we have not seen the MDSP6's own documents.
Inputs, tuning and what to confirm before you order
A factory stereo that has only speaker outputs needs a DSP with high-level inputs, or a separate line-output converter. The MDSP10 manual's panel diagram shows six high-level input pairs, but the MDSP6 listing names no inputs at all. It names no software or app either. The MDSP10 manual describes a PC program, and our Steg MDSP10 II listing names STEG TuneEQ for PC. Our guides explain the need for DSP and how to set it up, and DSP tuning is a service we offer.
Before you order, settle these points with Steg:
how many channels are amplified, and the RMS power per channel at 4 Ω;
which inputs it has, and whether it accepts high-level signals from your head unit;
the tuning software or app, and whether it runs on a PC, a phone or both;
the supply range, fuse rating and current draw;
the dimensions and weight.
What owners and reviewers say about the Steg MDSP6
When we checked in October 2026, we found no owner reviews, forum threads, magazine tests or datasheet for the MDSP6. The MDSP10 manual is the only Steg document we read from the family, and it describes a different model. A dealer page for the MDSP6 could not be opened, so we do not know what it lists. If you run an MDSP6, tell us how it behaves in your car.
MDSP6 vs Steg's other DSP amplifiers
The Steg SDSP4 (₹49,990 MRP) has a listing in the same form as the MDSP6's: 6-channel, with no power or input details. The Steg MDSP10 II (₹74,990) carries MDSP10 figures on its page: 8 x 50 W RMS at 4 Ω, six high-level inputs, an optical input and the TuneEQ software. The Steg SS-DSP12 lists 12 x 80 W RMS at 4 Ω. So the MDSP6 and SDSP4 are the two Steg DSP amplifiers we list without a stated power rating.
Who should buy it, and who shouldn't
Consider the MDSP6 if you want a Steg DSP amplifier at the lowest MRP of the four we list, you will confirm channels, power and inputs before ordering, and you plan to have it tuned.
Look elsewhere if you need documented figures today, because the Morel, Zapco and Alpine amps above publish their amplified channels, RMS power and inputs, or if you must be sure of six amplified channels, which the listing does not confirm.
Installation notes for Indian cars
The listing gives no dimensions or weight, so confirm the size before choosing a spot. Mount the unit on a rigid panel with air around it and out of direct sun: a closed boot in an Indian summer gets hot, and a built-in amplifier adds to it. The MDSP10 manual gives 9 to 16 V DC and 1.5 A at idle for that model and shows a fuse position without printing a rating, so get the MDSP6's own supply range and fuse rating before wiring. VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation and DSP tuning.
Price and where to buy
The Steg MDSP6 has an MRP of ₹42,990. VA3 Car Studio often sells below MRP, so check today's offer on the MDSP6 product page. It is sold as a genuine Steg product.

The bottom line
The MDSP6 is a 6-channel DSP amplifier by its listing, at an MRP of ₹42,990, and little else is documented: no amplified-channel count, power, inputs or software, and no reviews. The Morel, Zapco and Alpine 6-channel DSP amps we list amplify four of six channels at 23 to 25 W RMS each, for ₹19,990 to ₹21,999. Settle the unlisted points before you order.
Steg MDSP6 FAQ
How many channels does the Steg MDSP6 have?
Our listing calls it a 6-channel DSP amplifier, taking the figure from the Indian distributor's price list. It does not say how many channels are amplified or what power they deliver.
Does the MDSP6 take high-level inputs from a factory stereo?
The listing does not say. The MDSP10 manual shows six high-level input pairs on that model, but nothing we found confirms the MDSP6's inputs. Confirm them before you order.
What software tunes the MDSP6?
The listing names none. The MDSP10 manual describes a PC program and our MDSP10 II listing names STEG TuneEQ, but neither is confirmed for the MDSP6. DSP tuning is a service we offer.
