Morel MDSP 6/4A Review: Compact DSP Amp With Built-In Bluetooth

Oct 7
6 min read

The Morel MDSP 6/4A is a compact DSP amplifier: a six-channel processor, four Class AB amplified channels rated at 25 W RMS into 4 Ω, two RCA line outputs and Bluetooth built in, all in a 116 x 90 x 35 mm box. Its Indian MRP is ₹19,990, the lowest of the four MDSP models we sell, and it is the smallest unit in Morel's MDSP datasheet. It suits a driver who keeps the factory head unit but wants cleaner power and proper tuning for the four door speakers, with a spare output pair for a subwoofer amplifier later. See it on our MDSP 6/4A product page.

Figures come from Morel's MDSP datasheet (hosted by a UK retailer), the MDSP installation manual and the MDSP app manual.

Six DSP channels, four amplified

The name describes the layout: six processed outputs, four of them amplified. The four amplified channels drive front and rear door speakers, or a front component set run actively with separate woofer and tweeter channels. The two RCA outputs can feed an external amplifier, typically a monoblock for a subwoofer such as the Morel MPS 1.1100 Limited.

Be realistic about power. 25 W per channel is a clear step up from most factory head units and suits reasonably efficient speakers, but it won't drive demanding component sets hard. Morel lists no 2 Ω or bridged rating for this model. Its quoted THD+N of under 0.2% is also higher than the under 0.03% Morel quotes for the Class D MDSP 8/4A, which gives 80 W x 4.

Inputs and factory head unit integration

Morel's datasheet lists four channels of speaker-level input and dashes for RCA, optical and USB audio inputs on this model. That suits a factory touchscreen, which many Indian buyers keep: you tap the head unit's speaker outputs with the supplied high-level harness and let the DSP correct the signal. Bluetooth is built in, so you don't need the MDSP BT module that the full-size models use.

Morel's manual describes its SLAM load circuitry and the TuneLink two-amp tuning link for the three full-size models, not the 6/4A, and our MDSP TL listing likewise excludes it. The optional DRC controller does work with it, giving you volume, subwoofer level, source and preset control from the driver's seat.

Tuning with the Morel MDSP App

Morel's app manual covers the 6/4A, so the documented route is the Morel MDSP App on iOS or Android, connected over the built-in Bluetooth. It offers input, output and global EQ with a range of plus or minus 12 dB, a delay and gain screen for time alignment, a mixer for routing and summing inputs, presets and a turn-off delay of up to 255 seconds. The installation manual lists crossovers in full, high-pass, low-pass and band-pass forms, with Bessel, Butterworth or Linkwitz-Riley alignment and slopes from 6 to 48 dB. Our listing also mentions Morel's PC software, and a USB cable comes in the box, though the software manual we read names the full-size models.

Input EQ matters with factory head units, which often shape the signal before it reaches the amplifier. Our guide on setting up a DSP in your car covers the tuning process, and VA3 Car Studio offers DSP tuning if you'd rather have it done.

What owners and reviewers say about the Morel MDSP 6/4A

When we checked in October 2026, we found no owner reviews, forum threads or independent tests. Morel's launch press release for the MDSP series, dated 7 March 2026, is promotional and covers the range rather than this model. The UK listing at Celsus ICE carries no customer reviews, and our searches turned up only retailer pages.

A product this new simply hasn't built a track record. If you run a 6/4A in your car, we'd like to hear how it went.

Morel MDSP 6/4A vs Alpine PXE-640E-EL and Zapco HB 46 II 4A

The Alpine PXE-640E-EL (₹21,999 MRP) has the same layout: 25 W x 4, four high-level inputs, high-resolution Bluetooth and two RCA outputs. Alpine's manual rates that 25 W at 10% THD, so the figures aren't directly comparable. Alpine processes at 48 kHz against Morel's 96 kHz, and its box is far larger at 160 x 140 mm. Alpine does publish a 15-band EQ and a delay range of up to 7.354 ms, figures we couldn't confirm in Morel's documents.

The Zapco HB 46 II 4A (₹21,990 MRP) is another six-channel DSP with a four-channel Class AB amplifier, at 4 x 23 W into 4 Ω and 4 x 35 W into 2 Ω. It adds RCA inputs, six RCA outputs, a USB music player and a published 31-band EQ, in a 160 x 126 mm chassis. If you need RCA inputs or more outputs, the Zapco is more flexible; if space is the priority, the Morel is easier to hide.

Who should buy it, and who shouldn't

Buy the MDSP 6/4A if you're keeping the factory head unit, want phone-app tuning and Bluetooth without extra modules, and have efficient speakers or plan to add a separate sub amp.

Look elsewhere if you need RCA or optical inputs, more than 25 W per channel, or a link to a second amplifier for tuning. The MDSP 8/4A covers all three.

Installation notes for Indian cars

At 35 mm tall, the 6/4A may fit behind a glovebox, under a seat or beside the factory head unit, but keep it away from heater ducts and give it some air; Class AB turns more of its power into heat than Class D, and dashboards bake in summer. Tap the factory speaker wires at the head unit with the supplied harness rather than cutting into door wiring.

With only 25 W per channel, a solid, well-sealed speaker mounting makes a real difference, and VA3 Car Studio builds door baffles and speaker pods. Our Ghaziabad team also offers professional installation.

Price and where to buy

Morel MDSP 6/4A - another view

The bottom line

This is the most compact way into Morel's MDSP range: speaker-level in, Bluetooth built in, app tuning and four channels of modest Class AB power in a box small enough to hide almost anywhere. It has no RCA inputs and no track record yet, and serious speakers will want more power. As a tidy factory-system upgrade, it fits the brief.

Morel MDSP 6/4A FAQ

Does the Morel MDSP 6/4A need the MDSP BT module?

No. Morel's manual says the MDSP 6/4A has Bluetooth built in. The MDSP BT module is for the full-size MDSP 8/4A, 8/6A and 10/8A, which use an external Bluetooth dongle.

Can the MDSP 6/4A take RCA inputs from an aftermarket head unit?

Morel's datasheet lists four channels of speaker-level input and no RCA, optical or USB audio input for this model. An aftermarket head unit's speaker outputs can still feed it; for RCA or optical inputs, look at the MDSP 8/4A.

How do you tune the MDSP 6/4A?

Morel's app manual covers it: you pair a phone with the built-in Bluetooth and use the Morel MDSP App on iOS or Android for EQ, crossovers, delay, mixing and presets.
