Steg QK200.4 Review: Matching 200 W x 4 to Your Speakers

5 min read

The Steg QK200.4 is a four-channel Class AB amplifier from Steg's QK range, rated 200 W x 4 RMS into 4 Ω, 300 W x 4 into 2 Ω and 600 W x 2 bridged into 4 Ω. Its Indian MRP is ₹1,39,990. That is the most power per channel of the Steg four-channel amps we list, so the practical question is what to connect to it. This review matches the ratings to real speakers and subwoofers, covers the inputs and filters the listing describes and what it leaves out, and compares the QK200.4 with similar amps. See it on our Steg QK200.4 product page.

Steg QK200.4 4-channel Class AB car amplifier

Quick summary

  • Rated 200 W x 4 at 4 Ω, 300 W x 4 at 2 Ω and 600 W x 2 bridged at 4 Ω. The listing gives no test voltage, distortion figure or supply range.

  • One channel's 200 W is more than three times the rated power of any Steg QK speaker in our store, so matching matters.

  • Line inputs and per-pair high-pass, low-pass and crossover settings are listed, without ranges. Speaker-level input, input sensitivity, fuse and current are not.

  • We found no owner reviews of the QK200.4.

Matching 200 W per channel to your speakers

The ratings are ceilings, not targets. What a speaker should receive is set by its own rated power. One 200 W channel is a close fit for the JL Audio 8W3v3-4 subwoofer, rated 250 W RMS at 4 Ω, but several speakers in our store sit far below 200 W:

  • The JL Audio C2-650 is rated 60 W RMS, and JL's recommended amplifier range is 15 to 100 W per channel, so the top of that range is half of what one QK200.4 channel can deliver.

  • The Steg QK range's own speakers are rated 60 W for the QK6 mid-bass woofer, 30 W for the QK3 midrange and 25 W for the QK1 tweeter. None of the listings says the speakers and amplifier are meant to be used together.

  • On the subwoofer side, one bridged pair gives 600 W into 4 Ω. That is above the 500 W RMS rating of the JL Audio 12W3v3-4 and double the 300 W of the 12W0v3-4.

An amplifier is easiest to match to speakers rated near its output, or above it. Lower-rated speakers need careful gain-setting and a suitable high-pass filter, and for a 60 W speaker a lower-powered amplifier is usually the better match.

Inputs, filters and what the listing leaves out

The listing gives line inputs for channels 1/2 and 3/4 and high-pass, low-pass and crossover settings per channel pair, but no filter ranges or slope and no speaker-level input. If your factory stereo has no RCA outputs, you will probably need a line-output converter. Two September 2024 classifieds, linked below, paste a spec list with 12 dB/oct filters, high-pass 20 to 300 Hz or 400 to 6000 Hz, low-pass 30 to 600 Hz or 300 to 6000 Hz, and full, high-pass and low-pass modes. That list is not Steg's page, so treat it as unverified. For crossovers beyond the listed switches, a DSP is the usual route, and DSP tuning is a service we offer.

Supply voltage, current draw, fuse rating, input sensitivity, minimum load, weight and thermal figures are also missing. The ratings stop at 2 Ω per channel and 4 Ω bridged, so treat those as the lowest rated loads. Steg's K4.02 manual gives a fuse and cable size, but those belong to the Steg K4.02 and should not be assumed here.

What owners and reviewers say about the Steg QK200.4

When we checked in October 2026, we found no owner reviews, ratings or magazine tests of the QK200.4. The only pages we found for the exact model are two classifieds by the same seller, on diyAudio and AVsite, with no replies. The seller says the amplifiers were only used at idle in an active 3-way system, so they say nothing about how it sounds or runs. If you run a QK200.4, tell us how it behaves in your car.

QK200.4 vs the K4.02 and other four-channel amps

The Steg K4.02 (₹1,59,990 MRP) lists 115 W x 4 at 4 Ω and a longest side of 560 mm, so the QK200.4 lists more power, a longest side 166 mm shorter and a ₹20,000 lower MRP. The Steg ST402 (₹54,990) lists 120 W x 4. Outside Steg, three amps in our store are the nearest yardsticks:

  • Zapco Z-150.4 II (₹1,19,990 MRP): Class AB, 165, 275 and 550 W (4 Ω, 2 Ω, bridged), 479 x 190 x 62 mm overall, with a full, high-pass and low-pass crossover.

  • Zapco REF 150.4 (₹1,89,990 MRP): Class AB, 150, 230 and 470 W, 416 x 210 x 62 mm overall, with a published 2 x 40 A fuse rating.

  • Deaf Bonce MFA-4.220 (₹49,990 MRP): Class D, 220, 330 and 660 W, filters from 50 Hz to 12 kHz at 12 dB/oct, 267 x 152 x 55 mm.

The QK200.4 lists the most power per channel of the Class AB amps here. The MFA-4.220 lists more at all three loads, at a lower MRP and in a smaller chassis, but it is Class D.

Who should buy it, and who shouldn't

Consider the QK200.4 if your speakers or subwoofers are rated near or above 200 W, you want Class AB, you have room for 394 mm, and you will confirm the unlisted points before you buy.

Look elsewhere if your speakers are rated 60 W or less, you need a speaker-level input or documented filter ranges, or you want published fuse and current figures.

Installation notes for Indian cars

Measure for 394 mm, and allow for cables at both ends. Class AB amplifiers are generally less efficient than Class D, so expect more heat than from a Class D amp of similar output. Mount the amp on a rigid panel with air around it, because a closed boot in an Indian summer gets hot. The listing gives no fuse or cable size, so confirm both with Steg before wiring. VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation.

Price and where to buy

The Steg QK200.4 has an MRP of ₹1,39,990. VA3 Car Studio often sells below MRP, so check today's offer on the QK200.4 product page. It is sold as a genuine Steg product.

The bottom line

The Steg QK200.4 lists clear ratings at three loads and the most power per channel of the Steg four-channel amps in our store. It says nothing about supply voltage, current, fuse, input sensitivity or filter ranges, and no owner reviews exist. Match its 200 W to speakers and subwoofers that can use it, and confirm the missing details before you buy.

Steg QK200.4 FAQ

What power does the Steg QK200.4 deliver?

The listing gives 200 W x 4 RMS at 4 ohm, 300 W x 4 at 2 ohm and 600 W x 2 bridged at 4 ohm. It lists no test voltage, distortion figure or supply range for those ratings.

Is 200 W per channel too much for 60 W speakers?

It can be a poor match. One channel's 200 W is more than three times a 60 W rating, and the JL Audio C2-650's recommended amplifier range tops out at 100 W per channel. A lower-powered amplifier suits those speakers better.

What filter ranges does the QK200.4 have?

The listing gives high-pass, low-pass and crossover settings per channel pair but no ranges or slope. A seller's pasted list quotes 12 dB/oct, but it is not Steg's page, so treat it as unverified.
