Steg SDSP4 Review: Four, Six or Eight Channels? What Is Documented
The Steg SDSP4 is a DSP amplifier that our listing describes as 6-channel, with an Indian MRP of ₹49,990, which is ₹7,000 above the Steg MDSP6. Its channel count is the puzzle: the name says 4, the listing says 6, and a manual page titled SDSP 4 describes 8 output channels. The listing gives no power rating, input types or software. This review sets out which numbers are documented, which belong to a related model and what to settle before you buy. It suits a buyer who will confirm the details first. See it on our Steg SDSP4 product page.

Quick summary
Listed as a 6-channel DSP amplifier: a car amplifier with a built-in digital signal processor. The listing gives no amplified-channel count, power, inputs or software, and does not explain the 4 in the name.
The manual page titled SDSP 4 is generic text with no readable power rating. The only power figures we found are in the SDSP 6 guide, and they belong to that model.
The Onkyo R-MS69 has the same MRP and lists eight amplified outputs, though only as a maximum-power rating.
We found no owner reviews.

All figures come from our store listing, which takes the channel count from the Indian distributor's price list. We could not open Steg's own website from our research session, so nothing here has been checked against a manufacturer page.
Four, six or eight channels? What each document says
The documents describe the channels in different ways, and none explains the 4 in the name:
Source | Describes | Channels | Power |
|---|---|---|---|
Our SDSP4 listing | SDSP4 | 6 (distributor price list) | Not listed |
manuals.plus page titled SDSP 4 | Generic DSP text | 8 output channels | No rating in the readable text |
ManualMachine SDSP 6 users guide | SDSP 6 | 6 speaker outputs, 2 RCA outputs | 65 W at 4 Ω, 90 W at 2 Ω (garbled table) |
The manuals.plus page carries a title about power amplifiers, but the text we read does not describe built-in amplification, and its technical specifications are in an image we could not read. The SDSP 6 users guide is the only one of the two manuals with a readable power table, and it does not mention the SDSP 4. So the SDSP4's own amplified-channel count and power are undocumented in anything we found.
What the related SDSP 6 guide documents
The guide is OCR text with some garbled table cells, and it covers the SDSP 6. Read it as a sign of how Steg documents this family, not as SDSP4 specifications. It gives:
six speaker outputs and two RCA outputs, with 65 W per channel at 4 Ω and 90 W at 2 Ω below 1% THD+N (the pairing of values is inferred from a garbled table);
six high-level inputs, two RCA/AUX inputs, optical, coaxial and USB, plus a slot for a plug-in Bluetooth control module;
a 32-bit DSP, a 31-band equaliser per output channel (Q 1 to 12), crossover filters up to 48 dB/oct, 0 to 40 dB of gain per channel, digital time delay and eight presets;
a PC program on CD for Windows XP, Vista and 7, a phone app that selects inputs, volume, subwoofer volume and presets over the Bluetooth module (platform not stated), and an optional DRC remote;
a 9 to 15 V supply, a suggested external T30A time-delay fuse and 250 x 210 x 57.5 mm.
None of this is confirmed for the SDSP4. The software list is a reminder to ask which versions and operating systems the SDSP4 supports.
What owners and reviewers say about the Steg SDSP4
When we checked in October 2026, we found no owner reviews, forum threads or magazine tests of the SDSP4. The two manual pages above are the only Steg documents we read, and neither is a review. Dealer pages for the SDSP 6 either could not be opened or no longer carry it. If you run an SDSP4, tell us how it behaves in your car.
SDSP4 vs DSP amplifiers at a similar or higher MRP
With no power rating to set against, the useful comparison is what other DSP amps list at or above ₹49,990. Each brand sets its own test conditions: Alpine's manual quotes 10% THD, and Onkyo publishes only a maximum figure.
Model | Amplified channels | Power at 4 Ω | MRP |
|---|---|---|---|
Steg SDSP4 | Not listed | Not listed | ₹49,990 |
Onkyo R-MS69 | 8 | 6 x 100 W + 2 x 200 W (maximum, load not stated) | ₹49,990 |
Zapco HB 810 II 8AD | 8 | 4 x 35 W + 4 x 100 W RMS | ₹54,990 |
Morel MDSP 8/4A | 4 | 80 W x 4 RMS | ₹59,990 |
Alpine PXE-R80-8 | 8 | 35 W x 8 RMS | ₹68,999 |
Morel MDSP 8/6A | 6 | 80 W x 2 + 160 W x 4 RMS | ₹79,990 |
Our reviews cover the Onkyo R-MS69, Zapco HB 810 II 8AD, Morel MDSP 8/4A, Alpine PXE-R80-8 and Morel MDSP 8/6A. Within Steg's range, the SDSP4 sits ₹25,000 below the Steg MDSP10 II, whose page carries MDSP10 figures of 8 x 50 W RMS at 4 Ω.
Who should buy it, and who shouldn't
Consider the SDSP4 if you want a Steg DSP amplifier, will confirm the amplified channels, power and inputs before ordering, and plan to have it tuned.
Look elsewhere if you need published amplified channels and RMS power at a similar or higher MRP. The Zapco, Morel and Alpine amps above state them, and the Onkyo states a maximum rating.
Installation notes for Indian cars
The SDSP4 listing gives no size, weight, supply range or fuse. The SDSP 6 guide gives 250 x 210 x 57.5 mm, 9 to 15 V and a suggested T30A fuse for that model, so confirm the SDSP4's own figures before cutting a panel or buying a fuse. Mount the unit on a rigid panel with air around it and out of direct sun, because a closed boot in an Indian summer gets hot. For what DSP does and how to set it up, see our guides on the need for DSP and setting up DSP. VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation and DSP tuning.

The bottom line
The SDSP4 is a 6-channel DSP amplifier by its listing, at an MRP of ₹49,990, with a 4 in its name that nothing explains and a manual page that cites 8 outputs. The only power figures we found belong to the SDSP 6. Settle the amplified channels, power, inputs and software before you order.
Steg SDSP4 FAQ
Is the Steg SDSP4 a 4-channel or 6-channel amplifier?
Our listing calls it 6-channel, taking the figure from the Indian distributor's price list. Nothing we read explains the 4 in the name, and a manual page titled SDSP 4 describes 8 output channels.
What power does the SDSP4 deliver?
Our listing gives no power rating. The SDSP 6 guide appears to give 65 W per channel at 4 ohm and 90 W at 2 ohm for that model, from a garbled table, but nothing confirms those figures for the SDSP4.
Does the SDSP4 come with tuning software?
The listing names none. The SDSP 6 guide describes a PC program on CD for Windows XP, Vista and 7 and a phone app over a plug-in Bluetooth module, but neither is confirmed for the SDSP4. DSP tuning is a service we offer.
