Quick summary: the buying decision

The EPICFIVE is a compact, high-current Class D amplifier from AudioControl's EPIC series: 4 x 75 W + 1 x 300 W RMS at 4 ohm, 4 x 150 W + 1 x 500 W RMS at 2 ohm and 2 x 300 W bridged at 4 ohm, with 700 W from the subwoofer channel at 1 ohm. Its inputs are line level (500 mV – 12 V RMS), so with a factory head unit plan a line output converter such as the LC2i PRO.

AudioControl EPICFIVE: what it is

The AudioControl EPICFIVE is a compact, high-current Class D 5-channel amplifier that runs a complete system: 4 x 75 W + 1 x 300 W RMS at 4 ohm or 4 x 150 W + 1 x 500 W RMS at 2 ohm, with the subwoofer channel delivering 700 W RMS at 1 ohm. An ACR-E remote bass knob is included.

EPIC amplifiers are built for high output from a small chassis, with smart auto-reset protection (over-current, over-voltage, under-voltage, DC offset and over-temperature) and hex-screw direct-wire terminals. The EPICFIVE is a complete-system amplifier with a dedicated subwoofer channel, EPIC Boost bass EQ, a subsonic filter, an included ACR-E remote and an Epicenter Link harness.

Specifications explained

Rated power at 14.4 V is 4 x 75 W + 1 x 300 W at 4 ohm and 4 x 150 W + 1 x 500 W at 2 ohm, with 2 x 300 W bridged at 4 ohm. AudioControl quotes a frequency response of 10 Hz – 24 kHz (channels 1–4); 12 Hz – 181 Hz (channel 5) and a signal-to-noise ratio of 92.1 dBA (ref. 75 W at 4 ohm).

It has a high-pass filter (12 dB/octave Linkwitz-Riley, off or 50 – 500 Hz), a low-pass filter (12 dB/octave Linkwitz-Riley, 40 – 180 Hz), a subsonic filter (12 dB/octave, off to 50 Hz) and EPIC Boost (45 Hz centre frequency, 0 to 12 dB).

Inputs and system planning

The EPICFIVE takes line-level inputs (500 mV – 12 V RMS). With an aftermarket head unit, connect its RCA preamp outputs. With a factory head unit, a line output converter such as the LC2i PRO or LC7i PRO converts the speaker-level signal first. Being 2-ohm stable, it can drive pairs of 4-ohm speakers in parallel, or bridged pairs at 4 ohm.

Filters and bass control

Use the high-pass filters to keep deep bass out of door speakers and let them play louder with less strain. The subwoofer channel has its own low-pass and subsonic filters plus EPIC Boost (0 to 12 dB centred at 45 Hz); use boost sparingly, because 12 dB of boost asks for much more amplifier power. The included ACR-E remote and Epicenter Link harness complete the bass controls.

Wiring and fusing

AudioControl specifies 4 AWG power and ground wire, 8 AWG speaker wire at the terminals and a 150 A fuse. Fit the main fuse close to the battery, keep the ground short and on bare metal, and set gains with a test tone or oscilloscope. The amplifier measures 6.1 x 13.35 x 2.01 in (W x L x H).

How it compares

Other multi-channel options at VA3 Car Studio:

The Altitude amplifiers add speaker-level inputs, Valet Mode and start-stop compliance; the EPIC models give more power for the money when you already have preamp outputs.

Price and value in India

At the time of writing (October 2026), VA3 Car Studio lists the EPICFIVE at ₹42,490, 15% below the MRP of ₹49,990. The EPIC range gives a lot of power for the money, provided your system already has preamp outputs. Prices can change, so the product page always shows the current price.

Verdict: who should shortlist the EPICFIVE

Shortlist the EPICFIVE for a loud, compact system fed from an aftermarket head unit or a processor. If you are keeping the factory head unit, add a line output converter or consider an amplifier with speaker-level inputs.

Real-world reviews and limitations

We have not yet published a VA3 installation report for the EPICFIVE. The figures in this review are AudioControl's published specifications, not our own measurements, and real-world results depend on the installation, the wiring and the tune. If you have used one, we would welcome your feedback.

Frequently asked questions

How much power does the EPICFIVE deliver?

4 x 75 W + 1 x 300 W RMS at 4 ohm, 4 x 150 W + 1 x 500 W RMS at 2 ohm and 2 x 300 W bridged at 4 ohm (14.4 V); the subwoofer channel gives 700 W at 1 ohm.
