AudioControl EPICFOUR Review: Specifications, Installation and Comparisons

Quick summary: the buying decision

The EPICFOUR is a compact, high-current Class D amplifier from AudioControl's EPIC series: 4 x 100 W RMS at 4 ohm, 4 x 200 W RMS at 2 ohm and 2 x 400 W bridged at 4 ohm. Its inputs are line level (500 mV – 12 V RMS), so with a factory head unit plan a line output converter such as the LC2i PRO.

AudioControl EPICFOUR: what it is

The AudioControl EPICFOUR is a compact, high-current Class D 4-channel amplifier from the EPIC series. It is 2-ohm stable and delivers 4 x 100 W RMS at 4 ohm, 4 x 200 W RMS at 2 ohm or 2 x 400 W RMS bridged at 4 ohm.

EPIC amplifiers are built for high output from a small chassis, with smart auto-reset protection (over-current, over-voltage, under-voltage, DC offset and over-temperature) and hex-screw direct-wire terminals. The EPICFOUR is a compact 4-channel for front and rear speakers, with high-pass filters only.

Key features

  • 12 dB/octave Linkwitz-Riley variable high-pass filters (off or 50 Hz to 500 Hz)

  • Line-level inputs from 500 mV to 12 V RMS

  • Smart auto-reset protection: over-current, over-voltage, under-voltage, DC-offset and over-temperature

  • 4-gauge power and 8-gauge speaker terminals with hex-screw direct-wire connections

  • Thermally efficient, space-saving design with low idle current draw

Specifications explained

Rated power at 14.4 V is 4 x 100 W at 4 ohm and 4 x 200 W at 2 ohm, with 2 x 400 W bridged at 4 ohm. AudioControl quotes a frequency response of 10 Hz – 22 kHz and a signal-to-noise ratio of 90.1 dBA (ref. 100 W at 4 ohm).

It has a high-pass filter (12 dB/octave Linkwitz-Riley, off or 50 – 500 Hz).

Inputs and system planning

The EPICFOUR takes line-level inputs (500 mV – 12 V RMS). With an aftermarket head unit, connect its RCA preamp outputs. With a factory head unit, a line output converter such as the LC2i PRO or LC7i PRO converts the speaker-level signal first. Being 2-ohm stable, it can drive pairs of 4-ohm speakers in parallel, or bridged pairs at 4 ohm.

Filters and bass control

Use the high-pass filters to keep deep bass out of door speakers and let them play louder with less strain. There is no low-pass filter, so a subwoofer needs its own amplifier or a bridged pair fed with a low-passed signal from a processor.

Wiring and fusing

AudioControl specifies 4 AWG power and ground wire, 8 AWG speaker wire at the terminals and an 80 A fuse. Fit the main fuse close to the battery, keep the ground short and on bare metal, and set gains with a test tone or oscilloscope. The amplifier measures 6.1 x 9.41 x 2.01 in (W x L x H).

How it compares

Other multi-channel options at VA3 Car Studio:

The Altitude amplifiers add speaker-level inputs, Valet Mode and start-stop compliance; the EPIC models give more power for the money when you already have preamp outputs.

Price and value in India

At the time of writing (October 2026), VA3 Car Studio lists the EPICFOUR at ₹31,440, 15% below the MRP of ₹36,990. The EPIC range gives a lot of power for the money, provided your system already has preamp outputs. Prices can change, so the product page always shows the current price.

Verdict: who should shortlist the EPICFOUR

Shortlist the EPICFOUR for a loud, compact system fed from an aftermarket head unit or a processor. If you are keeping the factory head unit, add a line output converter or consider an amplifier with speaker-level inputs.

Real-world reviews and limitations

We have not yet published a VA3 installation report for the EPICFOUR. The figures in this review are AudioControl's published specifications, not our own measurements, and real-world results depend on the installation, the wiring and the tune. If you have used one, we would welcome your feedback.

Frequently asked questions

How much power does the EPICFOUR deliver?

4 x 100 W RMS at 4 ohm, 4 x 200 W RMS at 2 ohm and 2 x 400 W bridged at 4 ohm (14.4 V).

Can the EPICFOUR connect to a factory head unit?

Its inputs are line level (500 mV – 12 V RMS). With a factory head unit, use a line output converter such as the AudioControl LC2i PRO.
