Audison APK 130 Review: 130 mm Component Set With a Tweeter Level Switch

7 min read

The Audison APK 130 is a 130 mm (5 in) two-way component system from Audison's Prima range. The set is a pair of AP 5 woofers, AP 1 tweeters with a 26 mm diaphragm and APCX TW crossovers, and Audison rates it at 75 W continuous and 225 W peak into 4 ohm. The Indian MRP is ₹19,990, which is ₹10,000 above the Audison APX 5 coaxial of the same woofer size. It suits buyers with 130 mm openings who want the tweeters mounted separately, and grilles are in the box. You can see the set on our Audison APK 130 product page.

Figures come from Audison's APK 130 page, its datasheet and our listing. Audison calls the mounting depth reduced and gives no number. The US retailer ABT lists a 1.9 in depth and a 4.68 in cutout. Those values are not on Audison's pages, and the same two figures, 48 mm and 119 mm, appear in the dimension table of the APX 5 datasheet, so treat ABT's numbers as unconfirmed for this set.

The APCX TW crossover and its +2 / 0 dB switch

The crossover is a tweeter high-pass at 3.5 kHz and 6 dB per octave, with OEM-compliant fast-on connectors. The interesting part is the two-position level selector. Audison pairs +2 dB with a tweeter sitting behind the OEM grille and 0 dB with an A-pillar installation without a grille, so it describes two mounting cases and gives a setting for each.

That 6 dB slope is gentle, so some energy below 3.5 kHz still reaches the tweeter. The AP 1 itself has a 26 mm diaphragm with a wide-roll surround, and Audison says its acoustic lens covers the 10 to 13 kHz band. We have not measured any of this, so treat it as Audison's description.

The AP 5 woofer and its 90 Hz resonance

Audison lists a 32 mm pure copper voice coil, a water-repellent treated paper cone, a TPU surround with the Triple Wave profile and a reduced mounting depth. Resonance is 90 Hz, Qts is 0.68 and Xmax is ±2 mm. The coil, magnet, Xmax and resonance figures match those of the Audison APX 5 coaxial, but the datasheets list a different moving mass, 9 g here against 8.2 g, so we would not call them the same driver. With a short stroke and a 90 Hz resonance this is not a bass driver, and a subwoofer should carry the low end.

Powering the Audison APK 130

A 75 W continuous rating is more than most head units supply cleanly, and a clipped signal is a common way to damage a small tweeter. A compact four-channel amplifier that delivers somewhere near 75 W continuous per channel at 4 ohm matches the rating, and a smaller one will still sound cleaner than a head unit alone. The 225 W peak figure describes short bursts, so do not size an amplifier by it. Audison names no recommended amplifier for this set.

The 93 dB figure is a woofer SPL with no test conditions, so do not set it against a datasheet that quotes 1 W at 1 m. With a 90 Hz resonance, a high-pass of roughly 80 to 100 Hz is a common starting point, with a subwoofer taking what is below. Set the gains with a test tone.

What owners and reviewers say about the Audison APK 130

We found no owner reviews of the APK 130, and we are not going to invent a consensus. This is what we checked in October 2026.

The OnlineCarStereo page shows zero reviews and a prompt to write one. The ABT page has a reviews heading with nothing under it, and Elettromedia's own store page shows no reviews either. Audison's pages are promotional, so we use them for specifications and feature descriptions only. We found no report from an Indian owner, and reviews of other Prima sets say little about a 130 mm kit, so we have not borrowed them. If you have fitted an APK 130, tell us which car it went into and which level setting you chose.

Audison APK 130 vs APX 5, Hertz DSK 130.3 and larger Prima sets

The Audison APX 5 is the coaxial with the same woofer size, at ₹9,990 MRP. It is rated 50 W continuous and 150 W peak against the APK 130's 75 W and 225 W, has a 24 mm tweeter over the cone, and its grilles are a separate accessory. Our listing gives the APX 5 a 48 mm mounting depth, while the APK 130 has no confirmed number. If you do not need to place the tweeter separately, the APX 5 costs ₹10,000 less.

Hertz is Audison's sister brand, and the Hertz DSK 130.3 is the 5-inch component set from it that we have covered. It is ₹10,990 MRP, which is ₹9,000 below the APK 130, and is rated 60 W continuous and 120 W peak with a 24 mm tweeter. Its tweeter high-pass is also at 3.5 kHz, but at 12 dB per octave against Audison's 6, so the tweeters get different filtering. The Hertz woofer lists a 25 mm voice coil against Audison's 32 mm, and both list 2 mm of Xmax.

If your car takes a larger size, the 6.5-inch Audison APK 165P is ₹27,990 MRP and the 6 x 9 Audison APK 690 is ₹29,990 MRP.

Who should buy the Audison APK 130, and who shouldn't

Buy it if your car takes 130 mm speakers, you want the tweeters in their own positions and you can power the set with an amplifier that delivers something near 75 W continuous per channel. The grilles are in the box.

Look elsewhere if price is the main limit, since the Hertz DSK 130.3 and the Audison APX 5 list for less, or if you need a published cutout, a mounting depth or a record of owner reports before you commit.

Installation notes for Indian cars

Measure the opening, the clearance behind it and the spot for each tweeter, because ABT's depth and cutout are unconfirmed. In a door, allow for the window glass travel. The crossover setting depends on where each tweeter ends up, so settle the tweeter positions first.

VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation. We also build speaker pods and door baffles, which is one way to give a 26 mm tweeter an A-pillar position or to adapt a woofer opening, and we do DSP tuning for cars that have a DSP or a DSP amplifier. Keep the crossovers dry and away from the hottest panels, and tie the wiring down so it cannot rattle on rough roads. Damp the door first; our guide to applying sound damping in a car shows how.

If not, the APX 5 coaxial is ₹10,000 less.

Audison APK 130 FAQ

Is the Audison APK 130 a 5-inch or 5.25-inch set?

Audison sizes the woofer at 130 mm (5 in) and gives no cutout. Our listing title says 5.25 inch, so go by the opening you measure and not by the size label.

How much power does the Audison APK 130 handle?

Audison rates the set at 75 W continuous and 225 W peak into 4 ohm. Choose an amplifier by the continuous figure and set the gains with a test tone. Audison names no recommended amplifier.

Which level setting should the Audison APK 130 crossover use?

Audison pairs +2 dB with a tweeter behind the OEM grille and 0 dB with an A-pillar mount without a grille. If your position is neither, listen at moderate volume and choose the setting that sounds balanced.

Does the Audison APK 130 come with grilles?

Yes. Audison's datasheet and our listing both mark the grille as included, and our box contents say grilles included. Ask us if you want to confirm what comes in the box.
