Audison APK 690 Review: 6x9 Component Set With a Separate 26 mm Tweeter
The Audison APK 690 is a two-way component system for 6 x 9 in openings, from Audison's Prima range. The set is a pair of AP 690 woofers, a pair of AP 1 tweeters with a 26 mm diaphragm and a pair of APCX TW 690 crossovers, and Audison rates it at 100 W continuous and 300 W peak into 4 ohm. The Indian MRP is ₹29,990, which is ₹10,000 above the one-piece Audison APX 690 coaxial of the same size. It suits buyers who want the tweeters mounted apart from the woofers. You can see the set on our Audison APK 690 product page.

Key takeaways
A 6 x 9 woofer with a 25 mm pure copper voice coil and ±4 mm of Xmax, plus a 26 mm tweeter with an acoustic lens.
Audison rates the set at 100 W continuous and 300 W peak at 4 ohm. Choose the amplifier by the continuous figure.
The filter Audison lists is a 3.3 kHz tweeter high-pass at 6 dB per octave with a 0 / +3 dB switch. Audison says the woofer can run without a filter.
Audison publishes no mounting depth, cutout or recommended amplifier, and the one customer review we found is mostly a complaint about a seller.

Figures come from Audison's APK 690 page, its datasheet and our listing. Audison calls the mounting depth reduced and gives no number. The US retailer ABT lists 3.19 in, but it shows the same figure for the APX 690 coaxial, so we do not rely on it.
The AP 690 woofer and its 55 Hz resonance
Here the woofer is a driver on its own, with nothing mounted over the cone. Audison lists a pure copper voice coil, a water-repellent treated paper cone, a Triple Wave surround and a compact, abrasion-resistant basket. The bass-driver numbers are a 55 Hz resonance, a Qts of 0.6 and ±4 mm of Xmax. The Audison APX 690 coaxial lists 3.5 mm of Xmax and a 60 Hz resonance on the same 25 mm coil, but the two datasheets may not state Xmax the same way, so we would not call that a performance gap.
The AP 1 tweeter and the APCX TW 690 crossover
The AP 1 tweeter has a 26 mm diaphragm with a wide-roll surround, and Audison says its acoustic lens compensates for in-car response in the 10 to 13 kHz range. That is Audison's description, and we have not measured it.
The listing calls the APCX TW 690 crossover ultra-compact, with fast-on connectors and a level switch. The filter Audison lists is a tweeter high-pass at 3.3 kHz and 6 dB per octave, with 0 dB and +3 dB positions. That slope is gentle, so some energy below 3.3 kHz still reaches the tweeter. Audison also says the woofer cone and dust cap give a mechanical cut-off, so the woofer can be used without a filter for maximum efficiency. As a general rule, start on 0 dB and try +3 dB only if the tweeter sits far from you or points away.
Powering the Audison APK 690
Few head units can drive a 100 W continuous speaker anywhere near its limit, and a common cause of a damaged tweeter is a clipped signal from an amplifier that has run out of headroom. A four-channel amplifier that delivers something near 100 W continuous per channel at 4 ohm uses the rating in full, and a smaller one will still sound cleaner than a head unit alone. The 300 W peak figure describes short bursts, so do not size an amplifier by it. Audison names no recommended amplifier.
The 95 dB woofer and 93 dB tweeter figures come without test conditions, so do not read them against datasheets that quote 1 W at 1 m. With a 55 Hz resonance, set a high-pass above it, roughly 60 to 80 Hz as a starting point, and let a subwoofer take the lowest octaves.
What owners and reviewers say about the Audison APK 690
Owner feedback on the APK 690 is very thin. This is what we found when we checked in October 2026.
The OnlineCarStereo page carries one customer review, dated January 7, 2024, with no star rating shown. It calls the speakers great but says nothing about how they sound or fit, and most of it is a complaint about the seller: the wrong item was sent and took a long time to sort out. That tells you about that retailer, not about the APK 690.
The ABT page has a reviews heading with no reviews under it, the Cartoys page shows 0 reviews and the eBay Germany catalogue page shows no product reviews or ratings. Elettromedia's own store page has none either. Audison's pages are promotional, so we use them for specifications only. We found no report from an Indian owner. If you have fitted this set, tell us which car it went into and where you put the tweeters.
Audison APK 690 vs APX 690, APK 165 and other 6 x 9 options
The one-piece alternative is the Audison APX 690 (₹19,990 MRP), which carries the same 100 W continuous and 300 W peak rating in a three-way coaxial with a 40 mm horn-loaded tweeter and a 15 mm supertweeter. The APK 690 costs ₹10,000 more and gives you a separate 26 mm tweeter, an outboard crossover with a level switch and a free choice of where the tweeter goes. If the tweeter would end up beside the woofer anyway, the coaxial is the simpler fit.
Cone size matters more than the ratings here. Audison's APK 165 page gives the 6.5-inch APK 165 the same 100 W continuous and 300 W peak rating, and we cover that set in our separate Audison APK 165 review. The 6.5-inch Audison APK 165P is rated 115 W continuous and 345 W peak at ₹27,990 MRP, which is ₹2,000 less than the APK 690. The 5.25-inch Audison APK 130 is ₹19,990 MRP, and the three-way Audison APK 163 is ₹49,990 MRP.
The Hertz and JL Audio 6 x 9 speakers we have covered are all coaxials, so none of them lets you place the tweeter separately. The three-way Hertz DCX 690.3, from Audison's sister brand, is ₹10,990 MRP and rated 90 W continuous and 180 W peak, which is ₹19,000 below the APK 690. The three-way JL Audio C2-690tx is ₹33,990 MRP, and JL states 70 W RMS. That RMS figure and Audison's continuous figure may not be measured the same way, so compare layout, price and fit before the numbers.
Who should buy the Audison APK 690, and who shouldn't
Buy it if your car takes 6 x 9 speakers, you have a sensible spot for two small tweeters and you can power the set with an amplifier that delivers something near 100 W continuous per channel.
Look elsewhere if you have nowhere to mount a separate tweeter, or if price is the main limit, since the Hertz DCX 690.3 and the Audison APX 690 list for less. Skip it too if you need a published cutout, a mounting depth or a record of owner reports before you commit.
Installation notes for Indian cars
Audison gives no mounting depth or cutout, so measure the woofer opening, the clearance behind it and the spot for each tweeter before you order. Our box contents list woofers, tweeters and crossovers and do not mention grilles or tweeter mounting hardware, so ask us what comes in the box.
VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation. We also build speaker pods and door baffles, which is one way to put a 26 mm tweeter on an A-pillar or high on a door, and we do DSP tuning for cars that have a DSP or a DSP amplifier. Mount the crossovers somewhere dry and away from the hottest panels, and tie the wiring down so it cannot rattle on rough roads. Damp the door first; our guide to applying sound damping in a car shows how.
Audison APK 690 price and where to buy
The Audison APK 690 carries an MRP of ₹29,990 in India. Check the current price and stock on the Audison APK 690 product page. The listing marks it as a genuine Audison product. Warranty is per Audison's published terms; confirm India terms with us before you buy.

The bottom line
The Audison APK 690 is a two-way 6 x 9 component set rated 100 W continuous and 300 W peak, with a separate 26 mm tweeter, a 3.3 kHz tweeter high-pass and a woofer that Audison says can run without a filter. Its case rests on the hardware Audison documents, since the one customer review we found is mostly about a seller. If you have the opening and a place for two tweeters, ask us to check the fit. If you do not, the APX 690 coaxial is ₹10,000 less.
