6 min read

The DS18 ZR10 is a 10-inch dual voice coil subwoofer sold in two versions: the ZR10.4D with two 4 Ω coils and the ZR10.2D with two 2 Ω coils. DS18 rates both at 700 W RMS and prints a separate 1,400 W figure as maximum power. Both have an India MRP of ₹24,990. They are listed on our ZR10.4D product page and our ZR10.2D product page.

DS18 ZR10 10-inch dual voice coil car subwoofer

Quick summary

  • Match the amplifier to 700 W RMS. The 1,400 W figure is DS18's maximum power, exactly double, and is not a continuous rating.

  • The two versions share the power ratings, sensitivity, response and the ₹24,990 MRP. The coils and Thiele/Small figures differ, so choose by the load your amplifier is rated for.

  • 81 dB sensitivity, 27–200 Hz listed response, a 2.5 in (61.6 mm) coil and a 152.3 mm mounting depth.

  • DS18's web store shows three reviews of the ZR10.4D and two of the ZR10.2D. We have not read any independent reviews.

Figures come from DS18's pages for the ZR10.4D and the ZR10.2D and match our listings. The pages are the maker's own marketing and data, and neither lists an Xmax figure.

700 W RMS or 1,400 W: reading the ZR10 labels

DS18's web addresses for both pages lead with 1400 W, as does the ZR10.4D title tag, while the headings lead with 700 W RMS. The key-features lists give 700 W as RMS power and 1,400 W as MAX power. Only the RMS figure is a continuous rating. DS18's published warranty terms exclude overpowering a subwoofer and clipping from improper tuning, so set the gain with care.

Pairing an amplifier with each version

Wiring a single sub gives these loads:

Version

Coils

Parallel

Series

ZR10.4D

4 + 4 Ω

2 Ω

8 Ω

ZR10.2D

2 + 2 Ω

1 Ω

4 Ω

A ZR10.4D wired in parallel presents 2 Ω. Zapco rates its ST-1000XM III at 700 W into 2 Ω, which matches the sub's 700 W RMS. JL's JD1000/1 is rated 1,000 W at 2 Ω at 14.4 V and 800 W at 12.5 V, and DS18's G3600.1D is rated 900 W at 2 Ω in our listing. Both sit above 700 W, so the gain would need careful setting.

A ZR10.2D wired in series presents 4 Ω. There the ST-1000XM III and the G3600.1D are rated 500 W, and the JD1000/1 is rated 600 W at 14.4 V and 500 W at 12.5 V, so all three fall below the sub's rating. Wired in parallel, the ZR10.2D presents 1 Ω, right at the line DS18's warranty terms draw. The ST-1000XM III is rated 1,000 W into 1 Ω and the G3600.1D 1,200 W, both above 700 W.

Enclosure and fit

DS18 lists no recommended box volume for either version. Its page text says the sub works in sealed and ported boxes, and it publishes Thiele/Small data: Fs 37 Hz, Qts 0.78 and Vas 8.18 L for the ZR10.4D, and Fs 34 Hz, Qts 0.67 and Vas 8.26 L for the ZR10.2D. The figures differ, so a box modelled for one version is not automatically right for the other. DS18's general box chart is organised by driver size, not by model, and says its volumes are net of vent and driver displacement.

Check the 229 mm cutout and the 152.3 mm mounting depth against your space. VA3 Car Studio builds custom subwoofer boxes to the volume you choose.

What owners and reviewers say about the DS18 ZR10

When we checked in October 2026, the only owner feedback we could read was on DS18's own web store. We did not reach an independent test or forum thread, so treat the following as a small sample.

DS18's page for the ZR10.4D shows three undated reviews, all in the top rating tier, one without text. One says the subs performed well for the price. Another calls it a good small sub for an SUV third-row seat, paired with a third-row enclosure, with good low-end extension and decent output, and would buy again. The ZR10.2D page shows two five-star reviews. One reviewer bought a pair and likes them. The other likes the clean look and sound, including the raised logo on the dust cap, and is happy with their first DS18 subs.

ZR10 against the ZR8, GEN-X104D and ZR12

The DS18 ZR8 costs ₹8,000 less, and the DS18 GEN-X104D costs ₹6,000 less. The DS18 ZR12 costs ₹2,000 more.

The GEN-X104D is the other 10-inch here, with higher sensitivity and a lower RMS rating. The ZR12 adds 50 W of RMS rating over the ZR10 and a 12-inch cone.

Who should buy it, and who shouldn't

Buy the ZR10 if you want a 10-inch sub rated 700 W RMS, can supply an amplifier near that rating at the load you wire, and accept that DS18 gives no box volume. DS18's page meta description calls the ZR line entry-level; that is the maker's label, and the ratings above are what to buy against.

Look elsewhere if you want a published Xmax figure, a response listed below 27 Hz or independent reviews. The GEN-X104D lists 25 Hz at a lower MRP, but it is rated 400 W RMS.

Installation notes for Indian cars

Measure the space behind the baffle for the 152.3 mm mounting depth, including SUV third-row areas and boot side pockets where a shallow box helps. An amplifier near 700 W RMS draws real current, so ask us about a power cable and fuse sized to the amplifier you choose, and remember that the JL ratings above fall from 14.4 V to 12.5 V. Our sound-damping guide covers rattles. VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation.

Price and where to buy

The India MRP is ₹24,990 for the ZR10.4D and ₹24,990 for the ZR10.2D. VA3 Car Studio often sells below MRP, so check the current offers on the ZR10.4D listing and the ZR10.2D listing, both described as genuine DS18 products.

DS18 ZR10 - another view

The bottom line

The ZR10 is a 10-inch, 700 W RMS dual-coil sub whose 1,400 W figure is a maximum. Pick the ZR10.4D or the ZR10.2D by the load your amplifier is rated for, since the power ratings and MRP match. DS18 gives no box volume, so budget for a properly built box.

DS18 ZR10 FAQ

Is the DS18 ZR10 a 1,400 W subwoofer?

No. DS18 rates both versions at 700 W RMS and lists 1,400 W as maximum power. Its web addresses lead with 1400 W, so use the RMS line when matching an amplifier.

Which ZR10 version should I buy, the 4 Ω or the 2 Ω?

Choose by the load your amplifier is rated for. The ZR10.4D gives 2 Ω in parallel or 8 Ω in series, and the ZR10.2D gives 1 Ω in parallel or 4 Ω in series. Both have a ₹24,990 MRP.

What box suits the ZR10?

DS18 publishes no recommended volume, only Thiele/Small data such as a Vas of 8.18 L for the ZR10.4D and 8.26 L for the ZR10.2D. DS18 says the sub works sealed or ported, so ask us about a custom box.
