Hertz MP 250 Review: Mille Pro 10-Inch DVC Sub for a 17-Litre Box, in D4.3 and D2.3
Updated: Oct 7
The Hertz MP 250 is the 10-inch (250 mm) dual-voice-coil subwoofer in Hertz's Mille Pro range, sold as the MP 250 D4.3 with two 4-ohm coils and the MP 250 D2.3 with two 2-ohm coils. Hertz rates both at 600 W continuous and 1,200 W peak with 83.5 dB sensitivity, and its recommended sealed box holds just 17 litres. Either version lists at ₹39,990 in India, the same as the 12-inch MP 300 and far below the Mille Legend ML 2500.3. It suits owners who want deep, controlled bass from a slim box that leaves the boot usable. Prices are on our MP 250 D4.3 page and MP 250 D2.3 page.

Key points
One price, two coil options: the D4.3 wires to 2 or 8 ohms and the D2.3 to 1 or 4 ohms.
Hertz's sealed box is 17 litres and only 190 mm deep; its ported box is 24.5 litres.
At 83.5 dB it needs real amplifier power, which its 600 W continuous rating is built to take.
The MG 250.3 grille is made for it, and the little owner feedback we found is positive.

Choosing between the D4.3 and D2.3
The two versions share the cone, voice-coil size and power rating, with slightly different magnets; the key difference is each coil's impedance, and therefore the loads you can build. Connect both coils every time, either joined together or each on its own amplifier channel.
Version | Coils in series | Coils in parallel | Two subs combined |
|---|---|---|---|
MP 250 D4.3 | 8 Ω | 2 Ω | 4 Ω or 1 Ω |
MP 250 D2.3 | 4 Ω | 1 Ω | 2 Ω or 8 Ω |
A single D4.3 with its coils in parallel gives the 2-ohm load many mono amplifiers are rated for. A single D2.3 suits an amplifier that is stable at 1 ohm (coils in parallel) or one rated only at 4 ohms (coils in series). For two subs, a pair of D2.3s lands at 2 ohms, while a pair of D4.3s gives 4 ohms or, for a 1-ohm-stable amplifier, 1 ohm. Check your amplifier's minimum load before you choose.
Box options from Hertz
Hertz's sealed box is 17 litres, built 450 x 350 x 190 mm in 19 mm board with a 236 mm mounting hole. It gives a system resonance of 47 Hz and a Qtc of 0.82 with the D4.3, or 50 Hz and 0.85 with the D2.3, so the two behave almost alike there. Hertz suggests a 15 Hz subsonic filter and a 70 to 80 Hz low-pass, both at 24 dB/octave.
For more output, the ported design is 24.5 litres tuned to 38 Hz, measuring 568 x 330 x 276 mm with a 292 x 50 mm port 670 mm long; Hertz pairs it with a 20 Hz subsonic and a 60 to 70 Hz low-pass. Our listing adds that the sub can sit right on the box wall on its supplied damping rubber disk, and that the push terminals take cable up to 8 AWG.
Powering a low-sensitivity 10-inch
At 83.5 dB, the MP 250 is 2.5 dB less sensitive than the MP 300, so on paper it needs nearly twice the power for the same loudness. Budget for a mono amplifier that can deliver up to about 600 W RMS at the load you wire; Hertz's DP 1.500 is a mono Class D amplifier we stock, so compare its rated output at your chosen impedance. Run heavy-gauge power cable with a fuse near the battery, and remember that voltage sags at idle with the AC on, which an amplifier this size will notice. What owners and reviewers say about the Hertz MP 250
We found no professional review of this generation, and owner comments are brief. This is what we found when we checked in October 2026.
UK retailer Four Car Audio lists four reviews of the MP 250 D4.3, dated 2017 to 2025 and all at the top of its scale; the only one with text says the buyer was surprised by just how good it is. Its single review of the MP 250 D2.3, from 2019, says it adds a lot of depth to music. Neither page says how its reviews were collected or verified, and none mentions the box, amplifier or car used. Crutchfield has a review page for the D2.3 that didn't load for us. Positive, but too thin for a verdict.
MP 250 vs MP 300 and other Hertz 10-inch subs
The 12-inch MP 300 costs the same and is rated more sensitive (86 dB), but wants a 28-litre sealed box and 164 mm of depth. Above both, the Mille Legend ML 2500.3 (₹99,990) is a 4-ohm 10-inch with a neodymium motor, 700 W continuous, 88 dB and a recommended sealed box of 17 to 25 litres.
The Cento CS 250 (₹19,990) is a cheaper single-coil 10-inch rated at 300 W continuous, with an 84 dB rating, a 16-litre sealed box and 115 mm of depth. For very tight spaces, Mille Pro also offers the shallow MPS 250 (₹49,990) and the MPBX 250 S2 enclosure (₹59,990).
The MG 250.3 grille
No grille comes in the box. Hertz designed the MG 250.3 for the MP 250 D2.3 and D4.3 and the ML 2500.3: a solid cast aluminium ring with black steel mesh, a diamond-cut logo and hidden M5 screws, with the bit driver included. We sell it through our MG 250.3 / MG 300.3 listing; choose the 250 mm size. Our MP 300 review covers that listing in more detail.
Who should buy it, and who shouldn't
Buy the MP 250 if your boot can only spare a slim box, you have or plan a mono amplifier with power to spare, and you want to match its load exactly. Look elsewhere if your amplifier is modest (the more sensitive MP 300 makes more of it, space permitting) or you need a very shallow driver.
Installation notes for Indian cars
The sealed box's 190 mm depth lets it stand against the rear seat backrest and keep most of the boot floor free, which helps in cars where a CNG cylinder already takes space. Bolt or strap it down for broken roads, keep the bottom-plate vents clear in summer heat, and use the grille if luggage shares the boot. VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation.
Price and where to buy
The MP 250 D4.3 and MP 250 D2.3 each carry an MRP of ₹39,990, and the MG grille listing is ₹4,990. VA3 Car Studio often sells below MRP, so check the current offers on the D4.3 (4 + 4 ohm) listing and the D2.3 (2 + 2 ohm) listing.

The bottom line
The Hertz MP 250 gives you a 65 mm four-layer voice coil and 600 W continuous handling in a 10-inch that works in a 17-litre sealed box. It needs a capable amplifier, owner feedback is limited but positive, and the two coil options make matching that amplifier straightforward.
Hertz MP 250 FAQ
Is the Hertz MP 250 D4.3 or D2.3 better for my amplifier?
It depends on the load your amplifier is rated for. One D4.3 wires to 2 or 8 ohms; one D2.3 wires to 1 or 4 ohms. For a pair, D2.3s give 2 ohms and D4.3s give 4 or 1 ohm. Never go below the amplifier's minimum rated load.
What size box does the MP 250 need?
Hertz recommends a 17-litre sealed box (450 x 350 x 190 mm in 19 mm board, with a 236 mm mounting hole) or a 24.5-litre ported box tuned to 38 Hz with a 292 x 50 mm port 670 mm long.
Is the MP 250 louder than the MP 300?
Not on paper. Both are rated at 600 W continuous, but the MP 250 is listed at 83.5 dB against the MP 300's 86 dB. The MP 250's advantage is size: a 17-litre sealed box and 141 mm of depth against 28 litres and 164 mm.
