Morel Maximo Ultra MKII Tweeter Review: Specs, Crossover Needs and Placement
The Morel Maximo Ultra MKII Tweeter is a pair of 1-inch soft dome tweeters from Morel's Maximo Ultra MKII range, sold on their own. Our listing rates them at 90 W RMS (180 W peak) with 90.5 dB sensitivity and a 1.8 kHz to 20 kHz response. The India MRP is ₹5,990 for the pair, a fraction of what a complete Maximo Ultra component set costs. They suit owners adding tweeters to a car that has only door speakers, replacing tweeters in an existing front stage, or building an actively filtered system. You can check today's price on our Morel Maximo Ultra MKII Tweeter product page.

What to know first
A tweeter needs a high-pass filter. Our listing doesn't mention a crossover, and none of the retailer listings we read confirms one in the box, so budget for one.
Its listed range starts at 1.8 kHz, so filter it no lower than that.
Retailer figures disagree: one European listing gives 80 W RMS, 90 dB and 2 kHz to 20 kHz, and two UK listings call the pair 1.1-inch.
We found no reviews of the standalone pair; tweeters supplied in the Maximo Ultra sets draw praise for clear, non-harsh highs.

These figures come from our store listing. Morel's own page wasn't reachable when we checked in October 2026, and other retailers list different numbers: Noor Tehnik in Estonia gives 80 W RMS (250 W peak), 90 dB, 2 kHz to 20 kHz, 4 ohms and a neodymium magnet for its Maximo Ultra MKII tweeter pair. Treat the power and sensitivity figures as approximate until Morel's data is confirmed.
Why the crossover matters more than the tweeter
A tweeter's moving parts are tiny. Feed it bass and lower midrange and it can distort, then fail, before the volume seems high. That's why every tweeter in a car needs a high-pass filter in front of it. In a passive component set that job falls to the crossover box. With a standalone pair, you have three options. You can fit a passive crossover or high-pass network, use the high-pass filter on an amplifier channel dedicated to the tweeters, or run the system actively through a DSP that filters each driver.
Whichever you choose, the crossover point matters. Our listing's 1.8 kHz lower limit is the floor, not a target, and filtering a little higher gives the dome breathing room at volume. For reference, Crutchfield lists a 3.5 kHz crossover point for the tweeter in the Maximo Ultra 502 MKII set. If you go active, VA3 Car Studio does DSP tuning, and our guide to why a car needs a DSP explains what time alignment adds.
Placement: where these tweeters work best
Tweeters are directional, so position makes a bigger difference than with woofers. Mounted high on the A-pillar or sail panel and angled toward the opposite seat, they lift the soundstage to dashboard height. Mounted low in the door, they beam at your legs. If your car has factory dash or pillar tweeter locations, check their size and depth before ordering.
The mounting hardware in the box isn't detailed on our listing. For their Maximo Ultra tweeter pair, the UK retailer Thomas Performance lists four mounting options (surface, flush, angled surface and angled flush) and calls it compatible with Maximo Ultra crossover networks, while Celsus ICE gives a 20 mm mounting depth with grilles included. Both title it 1.1-inch (28 mm), though, so it may be a different generation from ours. Where there's no suitable location, VA3 Car Studio can build A-pillar pods aimed at the listening position.
What owners and reviewers say about the Morel Maximo Ultra MKII Tweeter
When we checked in October 2026, we found no owner or press reviews of the standalone tweeter pair. None of the retailer listings we read carried any. The feedback that exists concerns the tweeters supplied inside Maximo Ultra component sets, which may not be identical to this pair, so read it as background.
In issue 1/2026, the German magazine CAR&HIFI tested the Maximo Ultra 602 MKII set. It noted that the set's fabric tweeters behave benignly and almost free of distortion, as good fabric tweeters should, and that they can be used with a housing. An Indian owner's Team-BHP write-up of the same set in a VW Polo found the highs sharp but not harsh, and not fatiguing. The owner mounted the tweeters in the supplied surface pods, which angle them toward the listener. On Crutchfield's Canadian store, the one visible review of the Ultra 502 MKII set praises very clear highs.
Standalone tweeters vs a complete set
Before buying tweeters on their own, price the alternative. The Maximo Ultra 502 MKII (₹24,990) includes woofers, tweeters and its own MXR crossovers. The Maximo 6 MKIII (₹12,490) gives you a full 6.5-inch component set. If your door speakers are tired too, a complete set saves you designing a crossover.
The standalone pair makes more sense when your woofers are good and you only need high frequencies, or in a three-way active build. There, the tweeter can sit alongside a midrange such as the Morel CCWR 254, whose listed range runs from 300 Hz to 19 kHz.
Who should buy it, and who shouldn't
Buy it if you're adding tweeters above decent door speakers, replacing a tweeter pair, or building an active system with a DSP, and you're prepared to filter the tweeters properly.
Look elsewhere if you want a plug-and-play upgrade with the crossover already sorted. A complete component set does that for you, and confirmed published data on this pair is also thinner than we'd like.
Installation notes for Indian cars
A-pillar trims in many cars carry curtain airbags, so never block or modify an airbag's path when fitting pods. Run tweeter wires along existing harness routes, and keep any passive crossover in a dry spot under the dash rather than inside the door. Heat builds up behind a windscreen in summer, so use a firm mechanical fixing or quality adhesive rather than double-sided tape alone. VA3 Car Studio offers professional installation in Ghaziabad.
Price and where to buy
The Morel Maximo Ultra MKII Tweeter carries an MRP of ₹5,990 for the pair. We often sell below MRP, so see the current price on the Maximo Ultra MKII tweeter store listing. Every pair we sell is a genuine Morel product.

The bottom line
As a component, this tweeter pair is straightforward: a 1-inch soft dome from a range whose set tweeters earn praise for clean, non-harsh highs. The work lies around it, in the filter, the placement and the mounting. Get those right and it can lift a tired front stage; skip the filter and you'll be replacing domes.
Morel Maximo Ultra MKII Tweeter FAQ
Does the Morel Maximo Ultra MKII Tweeter come with a crossover?
Our listing doesn't mention one, and none of the retailer listings we read confirms that a crossover is included. Plan to use a passive crossover, an amplifier high-pass filter or a DSP.
Can I connect these tweeters straight to my head unit?
Not without a high-pass filter. A full-range signal can quickly damage a tweeter. Put a crossover or high-pass network in line, filtering no lower than the 1.8 kHz bottom of its listed range.
Where should I mount them?
High up, on the A-pillars, sail panels or dash corners, angled toward the cabin. Pods can be made where no factory location exists, keeping clear of any airbag in the pillar trim.
