Morel MPD HL Review: 2- and 4-Channel Line Output Converters for Factory Head Units
The Morel MPD HL is a line output converter: it takes the speaker-level signal from a factory head unit and turns it into RCA outputs that an aftermarket amplifier can use. We sell it in two versions, a 2-channel model with an MRP of ₹2,990 and a 4-channel model at ₹4,990, and our listing places it in Morel's MPD amplifier range. It suits owners who want to keep the factory touchscreen, with its steering controls and camera, and add an amplifier behind it. See the 2-channel MPD HL and 4-channel MPD HL product pages.

Quick summary
Converts a factory head unit's speaker outputs to RCA, so an amplifier can be added without replacing the head unit.
The 2-channel version handles one stereo pair; the 4-channel version handles front and rear pairs.
Our listing gives no voltage, load-resistor or turn-on details, and Morel's own MPD documents name a different adaptor, so confirm the right part for your amplifier with us.
We found no owner reviews, and no listing under this name outside our store, when we checked in October 2026.

These details come from our store listings. We couldn't find a Morel document that uses the MPD HL name; Morel's MPD amplifier datasheet and owner's manual describe high-level input differently, as explained below.
What a line output converter does
A factory head unit sends amplified, speaker-level signals to the doors. An aftermarket amplifier's RCA inputs are designed for a much smaller line-level signal. A line output converter sits between the two, so the amplifier can take its signal from the factory wiring.
The appeal in a modern car is obvious: the touchscreen, steering controls, reversing camera and dash all stay as they are. The limitation is just as real. A converter passes on whatever the head unit sends, including any equalisation or bass shaping the factory unit applies, so it can't correct a coloured signal. That is a job for a DSP; a DSP amplifier with speaker-level inputs, such as the Morel MDSP 6/4A, takes the factory signal and processes it in one box.
2-channel or 4-channel?
The 2-channel MPD HL handles one stereo pair. That covers a mono subwoofer amplifier fed from the front or rear speaker outputs, or a two-channel amplifier for one pair of speakers.
The 4-channel version takes front and rear pairs separately, which is what a four-channel amplifier for door speakers needs if you want front and rear to stay independent. At MRP the step up costs ₹2,000, so if there's any chance you'll add a four-channel amplifier later, the larger converter saves re-doing the wiring.
How it fits Morel's MPD amplifiers
Morel's MPD datasheet gives each model's input range, and they differ. The MPD 4.70 lists a single range of 0.35 to 3.5 V, without the separate speaker-input figure the others get. The MPD 4.100 and MPD 1.500 list 0.35 to 3.5 V for pre-amp input and 0.7 to 7 V for speaker input. Their manual says to set the input selector to PRE IN when using a line level converter, and to SPK IN for high-level signals from a factory system.
The MPD 5.550 lists 0.2 to 5 V pre-amp and 0.4 to 10 V speaker input, so it accepts speaker-level signals on Morel's figures and may not need a converter at all. Ask us to check before you buy one for it.
MPD HL or MPS HL?
The naming needs care. Our store also sells the Morel MPS HL, which our listing describes as a speaker-to-RCA adaptor with a built-in 50-ohm resistor for Morel MPS amplifiers. Morel's MPD owner's manual, which covers the MPD 4.70, 4.100 and 1.500, says high-level inputs require the MPS-HL line level adaptor, sold separately, and the MPD datasheet mentions an available high-low adaptor with built-in load resistors to keep impedance-checking factory sources active.
Our MPD HL listing says nothing about load resistors. If your factory system is the kind that checks for a speaker load, ask us which of the two suits your car and amplifier before ordering.
What owners and reviewers say about the Morel MPD HL
We found no owner or professional reviews when we checked in October 2026. Searches for the MPD HL name returned only MPS-HL listings, and none of the Morel documents we read uses it. Without independent feedback, we can only report what our listing states. If you've used one with a factory head unit, we'd like to hear how it went.
Who should buy it, and who shouldn't
Buy it if you're keeping your factory head unit and adding an amplifier that takes an RCA signal, such as an MPD four-channel or mono amplifier. Pick two channels for one pair or a subwoofer feed, and four for front and rear.
Skip it if your amplifier accepts speaker-level signals directly and you're happy to use that route, if you're fitting a DSP amplifier with speaker-level inputs, or if you need load resistors that this listing doesn't mention.
Installation notes for Indian cars
Take the signal from full-range speaker outputs, usually behind the head unit or at the speaker harness, and keep polarity consistent on every channel. In cars with factory tweeters on separate feeds, make sure you're tapping the full-range lines. Mount the converter where it stays dry and away from amplifier heat, and plan how the amplifier will switch on, since our listing doesn't mention a turn-on output. Set amplifier gains with a test tone rather than by ear. VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation if you'd rather not open the dash yourself.
Price and where to buy
The Morel MPD HL comes in two versions: the 2-channel at ₹2,990 MRP and the 4-channel at ₹4,990 MRP. VA3 Car Studio often sells below MRP, so check today's prices on the 2-channel product page and the 4-channel product page. Everything we sell is a genuine Morel product.

The bottom line
The Morel MPD HL is a simple way to feed an amplifier from a factory head unit, in two or four channels. What it lacks is published detail: no levels, no load-resistor information and no reviews. Confirm it suits your amplifier and car before you buy, and consider whether your amplifier's own speaker-level input makes it unnecessary.
Morel MPD HL FAQ
Should I buy the 2-channel or the 4-channel Morel MPD HL?
Choose the 2-channel version for one stereo pair, such as a subwoofer amplifier fed from the front speaker outputs. Choose the 4-channel version to feed front and rear pairs separately into a four-channel amplifier.
Does the MPD 5.550 need a line output converter?
Possibly not. Morel's MPD datasheet lists a 0.4 to 10 V speaker input for the MPD 5.550, so it can take speaker-level signals on Morel's figures. Ask us to confirm the best connection for your head unit.
Is the MPD HL the same as the MPS HL?
Our listings describe them as separate products: the MPD HL as a 2- or 4-channel line output converter, and the MPS HL as a speaker-to-RCA adaptor with a built-in 50-ohm resistor. Morel's MPD manual names the MPS-HL for MPD amplifiers, so ask us which suits yours.
