Morel MPS HL Review: The 50-Ohm Speaker-to-RCA Adaptor for Morel Amplifiers

Oct 7
5 min read

The Morel MPS HL is a speaker-to-RCA adaptor, or high-to-low level adaptor, with a built-in 50-ohm resistor. It lets you feed a Morel MPS amplifier from a factory head unit's speaker outputs, and Morel's MPD manual names the same adaptor for high-level input on MPD amplifiers too. Its Indian MRP is ₹4,990, and US retailers list it as a 2-channel part. It suits anyone adding a Morel amplifier while keeping the factory touchscreen. You'll find it on our Morel MPS HL product page.

Morel MPS HL speaker-to-RCA high-level adaptor with built-in 50-ohm resistor

Quick summary

  • Connects factory speaker wires to the RCA inputs of a Morel amplifier, with a built-in 50-ohm resistor.

  • Our listing says it is made for all Morel MPS amplifiers; Morel's MPD manual also names the MPS-HL for MPD high-level inputs.

  • US retailers list it as 2-channel, so separate front and rear feeds into a four-channel amplifier would take two.

  • We found no owner reviews when we checked in October 2026.

How it works with Morel's amplifiers

In the Morel manuals we read, the amplifier's own RCA inputs accept speaker-level signals once you select the right input range, and the adaptor is the physical link between factory speaker wiring and those RCA sockets. Morel's MPD manual puts it plainly: high-level inputs require the MPS-HL line level adaptor, sold separately, to convert amplified speaker outputs from factory audio systems to RCA style connections.

The input settings differ by model. On the MPS 1.1100 Limited, the manual says to select High for levels up to 20 V from an amplified factory system, and Low for up to 4 V from an aftermarket radio, DSP or line level converter. On the MPD 4.100 and 1.500, the equivalent positions are SPK IN for up to 7 V and PRE IN for up to 3.5 V.

Why the 50-ohm resistor matters

Some factory head units and amplifiers check that a speaker is connected, and can mute or shut down a channel when they don't see a load. Morel's MPD datasheet describes its high-low adaptor as having built-in load resistors to keep an impedance-checking factory source active, and OnlineCarStereo's MPD 4.70 listing describes the MPS-HL's 50-ohm resistor as maintaining load-sensing factory amplifiers. In other words, the head unit sees something connected while the amplifier takes the signal.

It isn't a fix for every factory system. Head units that add heavy equalisation or limit bass at low volume still pass that shaping through the adaptor, and correcting it is a job for a DSP.

Which amplifiers it suits

Our listing describes it as made for all Morel MPS amplifiers. That covers the MPS 1.550, MPS 4.400 and MPS 5.950, which we've covered before, and the MPS Limited models. Morel's MPS Limited manual shows an optional MPS-HL line level adaptor on the MPS 2.150 Limited's high-level input diagram. On the MPS 1.1100 Limited page, the same manual calls the required adaptor the MPS-LC, so if you're buying for that amplifier, confirm the part with us.

US retailers list the MPS HL as a 2-channel adaptor. A mono amplifier needs only one, but feeding front and rear separately into a four- or five-channel amplifier would take two.

MPS HL or MPD HL?

We also sell the Morel MPD HL in 2-channel and 4-channel versions, which our listing describes as line output converters in Morel's MPD range. Despite the names, Morel's MPD owner's manual specifies the MPS-HL for high-level input on MPD amplifiers, and our MPD HL listing doesn't mention load resistors. If your car's factory system checks for a speaker load, the MPS HL is the part whose resistor is documented.

What owners and reviewers say about the Morel MPS HL

We found no owner or professional reviews when we checked in October 2026. OnlineCarStereo's listing shows no reviews, and Crutchfield's page showed none in what we could load. If you've used one with a factory head unit, we'd like to hear how it worked.

Who should buy it, and who shouldn't

Buy it if you're keeping a factory head unit and feeding a Morel MPS amplifier, or an MPD amplifier, from its speaker outputs, particularly in a car whose factory system checks for a speaker load.

Skip it if your head unit has RCA pre-outs, since the amplifier's low-level input is the simpler path, or if a DSP sits between head unit and amplifier and already provides an RCA signal.

Installation notes for Indian cars

Tap full-range speaker outputs, usually behind the head unit or at the speaker harness, and keep polarity consistent. Then set the amplifier's input switch to its high-level position, as the manuals describe, before setting gains with a test tone. Route the signal wiring away from the amplifier's power cable to reduce the risk of picking up noise. VA3 Car Studio in Ghaziabad offers professional installation, including the wiring behind factory dashboards.

Price and where to buy

The Morel MPS HL has an MRP of ₹4,990. VA3 Car Studio often sells below MRP, so check today's price on the MPS HL product page. Everything we sell is a genuine Morel product.

The bottom line

The Morel MPS HL is the adaptor that Morel's MPD manual and MPS 2.150 Limited wiring diagram name for feeding those amplifiers from factory speaker wiring, with a 50-ohm resistor for factory systems that check for a load. Check the channel count against your amplifier, and confirm the part with us if you own an MPS 1.1100 Limited.

Morel MPS HL FAQ

Which amplifiers does the Morel MPS HL work with?

Our listing says it is made for all Morel MPS amplifiers. Morel's MPS Limited manual shows it as an optional adaptor for the MPS 2.150 Limited, and Morel's MPD manual names the MPS-HL for high-level input on MPD amplifiers.

Why does the MPS HL have a 50-ohm resistor?

Some factory head units and amplifiers check for a connected speaker load. Morel's MPD datasheet says its high-low adaptor's built-in load resistors keep such an impedance-checking factory source active.

How many do I need for a four-channel amplifier?

US retailers list the MPS HL as a 2-channel adaptor, so separate front and rear feeds into a four-channel amplifier would take two. Our listing doesn't state a channel count, so confirm with us before ordering.

Which input setting should the amplifier use?

Use the amplifier's high-level setting where it has one. Morel's MPS Limited manual says to select High for up to 20 V from an amplified factory system on the MPS 1.1100 Limited, and its MPD manual gives SPK IN for up to 7 V on the MPD 4.100 and 1.500.
