Morel MPS 2.150 Limited Review: Class AB Two-Channel With Switchable Power Modes
The Morel MPS 2.150 Limited is a two-channel Class AB amplifier with two selectable power modes: 150 W RMS x 2 into 4 Ω in High Power mode, or 150 W x 2 into 2 Ω and 300 W bridged in High Current mode. Morel quotes 0.02% THD+N, a 111 dB signal-to-noise ratio and a 10 Hz – 80 kHz response. Its Indian MRP is ₹99,990, and it shares its 51 x 170 x 322 mm chassis with the MPS 1.1100 Limited monoblock. It suits a sound-quality front stage driven through passive crossovers or a DSP, because it has no crossover of its own. See it on our MPS 2.150 Limited product page.

Quick summary
Two power modes, chosen by where you fit the fuses: 150 W x 2 into 4 Ω, or 150 W x 2 into 2 Ω and 300 W bridged.
Class AB, with Morel quoting 0.02% THD+N and a 111 dB signal-to-noise ratio at rated power.
No built-in crossover, subsonic filter or bass boost, so plan on passive crossovers or a DSP.
Needs a 40 A fuse, 8-gauge or heavier power cable and 50 mm of clearance; we found no owner reviews yet.

High Power or High Current: choosing the mode
Morel calls this a selectable voltage rail design, and explains it on its product page as a way to manage heat, since Class AB amplifiers run hotter than Class D. You choose the mode by moving the fuses. In the outer two receptacles, the default High Power mode gives 150 W per channel into 4 Ω speakers. In the inner two, High Current mode is meant for 2 Ω speakers in stereo or a 4 Ω load bridged.
The trade-off is easy to miss. High Current mode gives only 100 W per channel into 4 Ω, so for a typical 4 Ω component set, leave the amp in High Power mode. Switch only if your speakers are 2 Ω or you want the bridged 300 W into a single 4 Ω driver. Bridged into a subwoofer, remember there's no low-pass filter on board, so the crossover has to come from elsewhere.
No crossover on board: what to pair it with
Morel lists the crossover, subsonic filter, bass boost, remote level control and pass-through output as not applicable on this model. It is a purely full-range amplifier for two kinds of system: a passive component set, whose own crossovers split woofer and tweeter, or an active system where a DSP does the filtering, time alignment and EQ. The four RCA line outputs on the Morel MDSP 8/4A are one way to feed it, and our guide to setting up a DSP in your car covers the tuning steps.
The inputs take 0.2–4 V in the low range, which suits head-unit and DSP pre-outs, and 0.4–8 V in the high range. Per the manual, speaker-level signals need a separately sold adaptor: it names the MPS-LC and also lists the MPS-HL high-to-low adaptor, which we sell as the Morel MPS HL.
Heat, fusing and mounting in Indian summers
Class AB turns more of its power into heat than Class D, so give this amplifier more breathing room than a compact Class D unit. Morel's manual asks for at least 50 mm of clearance around the chassis, mounting with the fins facing up, and keeping it out of direct sunlight. Built-in protection watches for over-current, abnormal supply voltage, short circuits and overheating, and a thermal shutdown clears by itself once the heatsink has cooled to about 70°C. Keep it where air can circulate, especially through an Indian summer.
On the electrical side, Morel specifies a 40 A fuse and at least 8-gauge oxygen-free copper for both power and ground. The specified operating range of 8.1 to 16.5 V covers normal dips at idle with the AC running.
What owners and reviewers say about the Morel MPS 2.150 Limited
We looked for owner feedback in October 2026 and came up empty: the OnlineCarStereo page for the 2.150 has no reviews yet, and nor do the UK listings at Celsus ICE and Thomas Performance. The only editorial coverage we found was an August 2024 feature on Japan's Response.jp, which describes the MPS range but offers no listening impressions.
Morel and its retailers highlight Burr-Brown op-amps, quality capacitors and gold-plated terminals; those descriptions are promotional, and one UK listing even contradicts Morel's manual. If you own a 2.150, we'd like to hear how it sounds in your car.
Morel MPS 2.150 Limited vs Zapco Z-150.2 AP and REF 250.2
The Zapco Z-150.2 AP (₹1,10,990 MRP) is another Class AB two-channel with no electronic crossover and the same 2 x 150 W into 4 Ω. It goes further into low loads, with 2 x 275 W into 2 Ω and 550 W bridged, against the Morel's 150 W and 300 W. Zapco quotes THD under 0.1% and a signal-to-noise ratio above 110 dB, so the Morel claims lower distortion with essentially equal noise, and a wider quoted bandwidth (80 kHz against 30 kHz). The Morel costs ₹11,000 less.
The Zapco REF 250.2 (₹1,59,990 MRP) is a bigger step: 2 x 250 W into 4 Ω, 2 x 350 W into 2 Ω and 800 W bridged, with quoted THD under 0.02% (Morel: 0.02%), a signal-to-noise ratio above 104 dB (Morel: 111 dB) and a 416 x 210 mm footprint. It suits buyers who need more power and have the space; the Morel is the compact option. If you need four channels, Morel's MPS 4.400 is a four-channel model in its standard MPS series.
Who should buy it, and who shouldn't
Buy it if you're building a sound-quality front stage, prefer Class AB, will use passive crossovers or a DSP, and like the idea of a stacked pair with the MPS 1.1100 Limited on Morel's optional MPS-STKP plates.
Look elsewhere if you want crossovers and bass controls built in, more power into 2 Ω, or a simple hook-up to a factory head unit. For a whole system from one compact chassis, the Morel MPD 5.550 is simpler.
Installation notes for Indian cars
A boot side wall or the back of the rear seat usually gives the clearance this amp needs; avoid closed compartments and spots in direct sun through the rear glass. Check the fuse position before first power-up, because the mode depends on it.
Low-distortion amplification is wasted on a rattling door: VA3 Car Studio builds door baffles and speaker pods for component sets, offers DSP tuning when a processor feeds the amp, and provides professional installation in Ghaziabad.
Price and where to buy
The MPS 2.150 Limited has an MRP of ₹99,990. Check the current price and stock on our Morel MPS 2.150 Limited listing. Per Morel's published terms, the warranty runs four years if an authorised Morel retailer sells and installs the amp, or one year for over-the-counter and online purchases; check the India terms with us before you buy.

The bottom line
This is a specialist's amplifier: a filter-free Class AB two-channel with low quoted distortion and noise, a compact chassis and two power modes that must be set correctly. It has no owner track record yet and no built-in crossovers or bass boost. With good component speakers and a DSP or passive crossovers, its specification fits a careful sound-quality build.
Morel MPS 2.150 Limited FAQ
Does the Morel MPS 2.150 Limited have a built-in crossover?
No. Morel lists the crossover, subsonic filter and bass boost as not applicable on this model, so you need passive crossovers or a DSP to split the signal between drivers.
Should I use High Power or High Current mode?
Use the default High Power mode, with the fuses in the outer receptacles, for 4 Ω speakers in stereo; it gives 150 W per channel. Move the fuses to the inner receptacles for High Current mode with 2 Ω speakers or a 4 Ω bridged load.
What fuse and cable does the MPS 2.150 Limited need?
Morel's manual calls for a 40 A fuse and 8-gauge or thicker oxygen-free copper power cable, plus a ground cable of matching gauge. Mount the fuse holder near the battery.
